There are no rules, if you're owning the other person you will get insulted. Thats all it is.

+1 Do what you please, as long as it's in the real Runescape rules. If you get bothered by some 10 year old kid half way across the world telling you "omg rofl noob get lyfe" then you have some re-thinking to do :D

This is a VERY touchy subject and people will start flame wars at the drop of a hat.

To answer the question (this should be in H&A btw) the main ones are: Safing, PJing, no teleports and Protect prayer 1v1. Again, don't feel compelled to follow the rules, they're a formality made towards RuneScape's least deserving.

1. Don't safe ( eat above 2x his max hit maybe? eg 60+hp)

2. Don't prayer protection prayers, unless there is a Dbow Pjer and you are fighting melee foes.

Thats pretty much it if you want to get a decent fight with these 'rules'.

The rules are there to make PKing more fun for everyone.

The big ones are:

1. No safing. Safing is to eat while you're high hp, thus resulting the fight to last forever.

2. No PJing. Perhaps the most annoying of all. People attacking you right after you kill someone and you are low hp. Dragon claw specials, Dark Bow specials and G Maul specials are frequently used for this.

3. No protection prayers. Along the same lines as safing, noone will ever win if you use protection prayers during a fight. And most people will shun you for it.

"There are only two strategies in war. Move forward or change. The victor is the first to realise that when he cannot move forward he must change."

Most modern day pkers safe. (and whine if you do the same, so "no safing" rule doesn't exist unless you fight with/vs friends)

Some of them resort to PJing. (failures)

About protect prayers... It is more fun without them, but noone can prevent you from using them. Still as everyone noted, your opponent will most probably run.

Golden Rule of PvP - Don't die.

Yeah, it may be NH, but do whatever you need to stay alive. There's as much chance that they'll be doing something to stay alive when they have to, you may aswell beat them to it and get the upperhand.

Okay, rules I've seen, with my thoughts on them.

No safing -- I do this with glee and abandon.

No protection prayers -- Again, I do this all the time, especially in SC/CW when I see ancients.

No running/'Stop hiding and die already!' -- I like my pixelly life!

No teleporting -- Again, I like my pixelly life.

No farcasting -- Hehhehheh... isn't that the POINT? Safe spot, mage them to death, and to the victor the spoils?

No attacking before they're ready -- All's fair in love and war... especially war. :D

Then again, I'm a 'n00b' and a coward... but as I said once in Castle Wars, 'cowards live'.

Balance may be power, but chaos is still pretty damn fun.

You must waste a lot of cash.

Anyway, this is a touchy subject that I would have to say I am in the middle of. Do whatever you want, but the more you safe the less KO opportunities you will have. Theres a reason why people run from you when you use protection prayers, because its a waste of time.

Use your common sense, the less you eat the more you can attack, however the less you eat the more chance you have at dying.

Well if you're just running around pking randomly do whatever.

But if you're in varrock or something, and you challenge/get challenged to a fight obviously don't use protection prayers... And if you eat every time you get 20hp below your max hp no one will ever fight you, because there is absolutely no way that they can win, thus making it pointless to fight you. It just causes the fight to last until someone is out of food (at which point you just run)
