Played off and on for a couple years and always made my money mining rune. For awhile the ore stabilized around 10-12.5k with high alch prices.

Why has it gone up over 16k?

thanks!

Is it a bad thing?

Is it a bad thing?

not for us runite miners, but has it just been high demand for rune armor? I always figured alch prices and smithers kept a balance.

I haven't mined rune in forever so I'm not sure on the demand or anything. I'm not sure why it's high, and since sacred clay melee armour gives double exp + has almost the same stats as rune you'd think rune would go down. >.>

Rune armor and weapons went back up with the intro of pvp worlds:)

Oh, right. xD

More rune is needed these days for a number of reasons...

The main one being the price manipulators hoarding it :P

the other is... well, you'll just have to wait and watch the Times :)

+1, clans bought out several rune items (scimitars/platelegs/2hs) so the item-chaining principle that when an item is being bought out, buy the items used to make it. (in this case, runite ore, definitely not coal).

Well, not everyone is a member. PvP is a pretty big part of F2P, and with the drop system giving out random drops, you can't always be sure that you will get an item to replace your own if you die. Also, the merchants and manipulators give rune items a decent price range over the course of one of their "investments". This would mean that some smiths could likely smith said items, and sell when the item reaches the peak price in order to cut losses substantially. Just the same, they could be merchanting and manipulating the rune ores and bars from the get-go.

I'd guess because more people are smithing as a result of stealing creation.. thus more need for rune ore/bars

That doesn't mean that Rune smithing is profitable again. Still costs an inordinate amount of cash to make the more desirable Rune things (sets, 2hs, scimitars, etc), and you'd be losing money if you bought/smelted from ore.

Plus why would you go past 80 if you're training for Stealing Creation? 85 is require for anything Runite...

Unless you mean that training to 80 inspired people to go higher or that people are using the hammers...

I'd think people to be training towards 99 at the fastest rate possible (using rune bars with SC hammers). Smithing just isn't a profitable skill anymore. But the cheaper xp really makes it a real strong possibility that people are buying rune ore/bars to level faster. If you go to the anvils in varrock about 80% of the people you'll see there are using the clay hammers.

No, the best money:experience ratio with Smithing still is Iron. The only difference between using the proto-tools with Rune versus using them with Adamant (which, mind you, is FAR cheaper) is about 25xp more with Rune. Iron beats 'em both though, only 50xp a bar though...

With smithing addy bars I'm losing under 2gp / xp

Might it have anything to do with summoning, especially rune minotaurs? People want to make rune minotaurs, thus they buy rune bars, the price of rune bars goes up, quickly followed by the price of rune ores.

"Noob" is an insult. "Noob" is overused. Be polite. Try to say "noob" less than once a day.

Thank you.

^^ i really dont think rune minotaurs have anything to do with it. Maybe a small amount of bars are going to making those pouches but not so many to effect prices much. I think its the pvp worlds and merchants.

more rune items are lost in pvp than gained where as in regular good ol wildy no rune items were lost just switched hands

1100 total achieved 03/02/09 880thousandth to reach it :P

1200 total achieved 29/09/11 1.23millionth to reach it :P

Good lord... not every prise raise is caused by manipulators.

Rune instantly went up as soon as pvp worlds came out. It made smithing profitable for the first time in forever. So of course, people with the smithing level bought the rune ores and used them to make items with which they profited. I believe it is still possible to profit off of it still.

But yeah, basically just pvp worlds is the reason rune is high.

Started free trade with 1.5m cash. 2 weeks later, have hit max cash 2x.

PvP drops: 359 Brawling Gloves, 11 Vesta's Longswords, 41+ Zaros/Ancient Statues

9 Dragon Full Helms, 3 Dragonfire Shields on the old PvP loot system

Brawler guide is being finished!

When pvp worlds were released the price of reunited ores have risen. This is because of the different drop you get and you are not garanteed to get a rune scimitar. Then this means that this rune scimitar is lost from the game which makes people have more demand. In the old wild the rune scimitar would just be won by the other person who would probably sell it back into the market.

I am going to assume the pvp worlds were the result (at least the major reason)...thanks for all your answers.
