Just got back in from making an igloo.

Me and 2 other mates made 2 massive snowballs, 4-5 foot high, and then made one abother foot bigger. We then joined them together and started to hollow out the first. Got dark before we could finish though, so we're up early tomorrow to finish it off.

Is eating snow bad for you? If so I think I might die. It's all I ate all day :ohnoes:

So don't let anyone tell you you're not worth the earth,

These streets are your streets, this turf is your turf,

Don't let anyone tell you that you've got to give in,

Cos you can make a difference, you can change everything,

Just let your dreams be your pilot, your imagination your fuel,

Tear up the book and write your own damn rules,

Use all that heart, hope and soul that you've got,

And the love and the rage that you feel in your gut,

And realise that the other world that you're always looking for,

Lies right here in front of us, just outside this door,

And it's up to you to go out there and paint the canvas,

After all, you were put on the earth to do this,

So shine your light so bright that all can see,

Take pride in being whoever the [bleep] you want to be.

Almost no snow where I live :(, about an inch or two maybe. I'm also doubtful I'll get any time off, my school rarely closes due to bad weather.

Even if it usually doesn't snow in England, how can having only that amount of snow do that? Here it takes at least 25cm to close the schools, and 35 to close my college.

it usually doesnt snow in england???

No, not really. Usually just one or two days each year around the end of January.

We all panic. The transport links turn chaotic, schools close, and it adds an extra couple of hours on a normal journey to work. We like to have what little fun we can with the limited amount of snow we get. :)

Real life example; I got this e-mail from my Uni this evening..

Just to let you know that should it be necessary to close the University as a result of possible heavy snowfall overnight tonight, a message will appear on the main front web page tomorrow at approx 07.30am confirming any decision to close. Whilst we do not expect the situation to be that bad, we do need to take precautions and be prepared should things deteriorate

Many thanks

This was after less than a day of snow, with about an inch of snow slowly melting outside right now.

What annoys me about today is that with just a little snow, the whole country grinds to a halt. Scotland gets a few days like this every winter but yet nobody is ever prepared. We deal with it a bit better than England does but we still struggle, it irritates the hell out of me. I mean people in other countries are able to get by as normal when there is snow, why can't we?

Lol isn't it obvious that the snow affected me today? Bloody train delays. That is a sign that I'm old, I don't like snow anymore.

Missed most of the snow due to work :( the limit of my fun was wheelspinning/skidding around trying to get up the slope to get out of my driveway thismorning

We've had rediculously good weather... Summer ehre though ::'

Usually it rains in summer, but it hasn't rained for so long (actually did for a little this morning), has been 30+ constantly, sometimes 35+, very very unusual for NZ...

I wish it snowed here...When I move we might get some in the winter :)

Our winters just rain, everyday.

The reason the UK grinds to a halt when it snows is because it isn't equipped to deal with much snow at all as it is rare that there is more than a couple of inches. If it was more frequent then we would be better prepared.

My University is closed today because lecturers can't get in because the town I'm in is pretty remote and there's been about 7 or 8 inches just outside. Snow ball fights on the beach are fun ::'

BREAKING NEWS

I have no college until Thursday.

Wow, for snow? That's pretty crazy that they even canceled University classes. The only way the cancel here (Northern MN) is if there is a tornado or 3 feet of snow. We had -50 F temps and we still had to go. Had 10 inches of snow and we still had to go.

Well I don't have college on Wednesdays anyway. My college was closed yesterday and today but will reopen tomorrow unless anything gets worst.

Unfortunately it looks like my school will be back open again tomorrow, had a great couple of days though. Perfect timing with finishing exams on Friday as well. People always bemoan how the country grinds to a halt on days like this, and how much it costs the economy. I find them quite interesting, and a break from the normal routine. Snow, for a few days, is quite fun.

As long as it wasn't yellow, it should be alright. :P

Meh, my area (the Belgian coast) barely got any snow. Probably... 5-10 centimeters. I have no idea what that is in inches. Metric > Imperial anyway.

Grimsby, Lincolnshire.

Snow was pathetic. It snowed all night, but didn't settle and just turned to slush, and ice. College wasn't cancelled but at least half of the students, 1000+ didn't turn up lol. :wall:

I consider myself unlucky, going through all this I'd at least like to see some REAL snow.
