As you may know there have been lawsuits agianst Obama over the natural born citizen issue. Many of these lawsuits have all ready been rejected or thrown out by the courts. Some of them even went to the U.S Supreme Court over the last few months, all them have been turn down.

Lightfoot v. Bowen

Berg v. Obama

Second Berg v. Obama

Donofrio v. Wells

Wrotnowski v. Bysiewicz

Schneller v. Cortes

Thow there are still lawsuits active, including Bergs, and a new one looks like to be going foward with Tennessee lawmakers joining the suits to make Obama turn over his birth certificate and other documents.

Obama as said his father was Kenyan not American and that is what a lot of the lawsuits are about, the United States Constitution requires that Presidents (and Vice Presidents) of the United States be natural born citizens.

So do you think the lawsuits have any merit to them or just nonsense?

I think IF Obama is not a natural born citizen, than the Constitution should be enforce, and he should be thrown out of office.

[hide=]Several Tennessee lawmakers have signed onto a legal action intended to force President Barack Obama to turn over his birth certificate and other documents to prove his citizenship, an effort already rejected by the U.S. Supreme Court in another case.

Tennessee Reps. Eric Swafford, Stacey Campfield, Glen Casada and Frank Nicely have all agreed to be plaintiffs in future legal action from a Russian immigrant in California who has challenged whether Obama meets constitutional criteria to be president.

The lawsuit from the Defend Our Freedoms Foundation, which has not yet been filed, will be among several court challenges to Obama's citizenship.

One of the cases reached the U.S. Supreme Court late last year, and the court declined without comment to take it up, a move many interpreted as meaning the issue was dead. The campaign posted a copy of his certificate on a page intended to counter rumors about Obama.

Swaffords letter states I agree to be one of the plaintiffs in a legal action filed by Dr. Orly Taitz, Esquire for a Writ of Mandamus to obtain birth certificate, immigration records, passports and other vital records for Barry Soetoro, aka Barack Hussein Obama.

The letter from the Pikeville Republican is written on the official letterhead of the state House of Representatives.

Niceley, Campfield and Casada, who are also Republicans, confirmed that they too have agreed to be plaintiffs.

Casada said that he believes that Obama does have a U.S. birth certificate, and should just make it widely available.

Lets just put this to bed. Yes, people may say, youre just chasing some conspiracy theory, he said. Its a simple act on his part to just do, and were done move on.

Democratic lawmakers ridiculed the legal action on Thursday morning at a weekly press conference, with one lawmaker asking, Whos Eric Swafford? and another answering, Hes from Mars.

The news of the lawsuit later provoked ribbing around the capitol, with one legislative staffer approaching a lawmaker and demanding to see his birth certificate.

Pretty ridiculous. He already won, they should just let it go instead of trying to get him removed from office. I don't really get that rule anyways, having to be a natural born citizen and all.

He's not going to get thrown out. Think about it:

He's the first black president

He would be thrown out for not being born in the USA.

(I don't support the racism crap, I'm just thinking how the rest of the world would)

Im willing to wager the CIA checked this as soon as he announced his campaign way back when.

To be blunt, there are a lot of racists and such in america screaming hes not an american. If there is any suspician the CIA is going to check it even quicker.

well originally it was to prevent Britain from sending over politicians to recapture the country through politics. I guess it is dated and there is some debate over if it should remain, but since theres nothing "wrong" with it if he wasnt natural born hypothetically he would be kicked out.

His father isn't American, but Barack is. He's the president not his dad. I fail to see the problem here.

I am not being racists.

I dont believe anyone accused you of that though i think it was directed at what I said. Im not saying you are racists for wanting these claims investigated, but you should know that a lot of these were brought up by people trying to keep him out of office by spreading propaganda based off of his atypical appearence.

Alan Keyes is one of the people behind the lawsuits and he is black. Obama is now trying to keep his records from public

[hide=]'Sanctions' sought in eligibility case President's attorneys file motion demanding birth, college records be withheld from public

A high-powered team of Los Angeles attorneys representing President Obama in his effort to keep his birth certificate, college records and passport documents concealed from the public has suggested there should be "monetary sanctions" against a lawyer whose clients have brought a complaint alleging Obama doesn't qualify for the Oval Office under the Constitution's demand for a "natural born" citizen in that post.

The suggestion came in an exchange of e-mails and documents in a case brought by former presidential candidate Alan Keyes and others in California. The case originally sought to have the state's electors ordered to withhold their votes for Obama until his eligibility was established. Since his inauguration, it has been amended to seek a future requirement for a vetting process, in addition to the still-sought unveiling of Obama's records.

In the case, being handled largely by Gary Kreep of the U.S. Justice Foundation, he recently subpoenaed the records documenting the attendance by Obama, or possibly the student when he was known as Barry Soetero, from Occidental College.

The lawyer for the college, Stuart W. Rudnick of Musick, Peeler & Garrett, urgently contacted Fredric D. Woocher of Strumwasser & Woocher.

"This firm is counsel to Occidental College. The College is in receipt of the enclosed subpoena that seeks certain information concerning President-Elect Barack Obama," he wrote via fax. "Inasmuch as the subpoena appears to be valid on its face, the College will have no alternative but to comply with the subpoena absent a court order instructing otherwise."

Within hours, Woocher contacted Kreep regarding the issue, telling him, "It will likely not surprise you to hear that President-elect Obama opposes the production of the requested records.

It wouldn't matter, he's already in office. Sure, they could impeach him, but A LOT of people will NOT be happy if that happens.

The Supreme Court could find anything, deem it 'unconstitutional', and impeach the president if they don't like him.

I mean anything. "Oh he stole a candy bar when he was 5! Unconstitutional!" Luckily nothing like that has ever happened.

If he was in the office "illegally" he would be removed without impeachment I believe. Impeachment occurs when the president is accused of violating his limit of powers.

riku--thats a bit of an overstatement, I guess technically they could but no person qualified for such a valued position would do that. That would be the end of the country if our head court got to that level.

This could have been a problem during the campaign, but now that he's the president I don't see why anybody would be worried. He's the freaking president, you can't touch the man.

The Supreme Court can.

While my example may be a little extreme let me provide one that may actually happen.

Congress comes up with a bill, the entire House is for it, the president doesn't veto, The Supreme Court can find something, anything 'unconstitutional' with this law and instantly shut it down.

And if it isn't unconstitutional they can make it unconstitutional, because they're the ones who decides what's unconstitutional!!! :x

you know, something is determined to be unconstitutional if it violates what is said in the constition. I think you are trying to criticize some rulings that were based off of legislating from the bench, but that cant happen with something like this.

He's a natural born citizen as long as one of his parents is American. The issue is if he was born on American soil (there's a rumor that his mother couldn't make it to America to give birth to him). Either way I think the issue is ridiculous. I doubt if they would throw him out since he is a popular figure, and America is already suffering from a severely collapsing economy. Increasing Proliterian (common citizen) dissention even more is unwise and can lead to a catostrophic event for America; it just isn't worth the risk. He's the president, and if you don't like him being the president, vote against him in 2012.

Yes, but then we would be violating our own constitution. If he really was not born in America, then he has no right to be president. That rule was made for a reason. If we start overlooking parts of the Constitution, and no one seems to care about it, who knows what else may be "overlooked"?

Just as a note, I have no problem with Obama, he is doing a fine job so far.

1) If he did not meet the requirements of Presidency, he never even would have gotten nominated. As long as he is the child of a US citizen, who is a citizen at the time of birth in another nation, then Obama would be a citizen (so we don't have people going on vacation while 8-9 months pregnant in a foreign nation having illegal babies. Also, military kids born off-base?)

2) Guys, look who the OP is. Since when has a topic by this author every created that didn't have some sort of sensationalist news story that always gets knocked down?

The issue is real, legislators joining in the effort that seeks Obama's birth certificate

We know that; it was always an issue since people basically began to realize that he would win the election. Barihawk was just saying that you always make the same type of thread and that you basically need some sort of diversity. (You always make doomsday/anti-government threads.)
