Go to http://www.runescape.com , account >account management> E-mailregistration >

And fill in the required information, you will be busy for a few minits but then you do have a little bit more accountsecurety, so to me it seems to be worth the amount of time ;).

 

 

 

I'm amazed Jagex never created a newstopic about how to do this, so that's why I do it here :P.

 

Also because I think that only like 5% of the RS players has done this at max at this moment.

 

 

 

How many % of the persons do you think allready know this?

 

 

 

 

 

Indeed I allready posted this on RSNL, the biggest Dutch RSfanforum there is +-, but I still think all tip.it's should know this to ! ;)

I just secured my account. If you want to secure your account without clicking on his links just do the following. It was very easy to follow a few simple steps and confirm.

 

 

 

1) Go to the RuneScape home page. http://www.runescape.com

 

 

 

2) Go to Account > Then Account Management.

 

 

 

3) Enter your User Name and Password if prompted to do so.

 

 

 

4) Click Email Registration and follow the instructions from there.

I think it's a good idea if you use a seperate password for your email and RS account, if you don't the hackers could just as easily abuse your email. It's also good to retrieve your account I guess :)

 

 

 

Doesn't look like a scam to me. Not sure why they didn't announce this, though...

 

They announced emails for new accounts though I don't specifically remember them annoucing it for existing accounts.

They did announce emails for new, but never for old. Wonder why...

I was thinking that when they first made it so that you had to register email accounts, they'd keep tabs on the total number of accounts you make. That way, they could put a limit to say, three accounts per email address -- This in itself wouldn't be a bad idea, but then again throw-away email accounts could easily be made.

 

 

 

Right now, having an email associated with my RS account, IMHO, is a good thing.

Ow I'm sorry for causing trouble about the link.

 

I was just trying to help you getting there faster by copy pasting the link.

 

Anyway I'm happy some of you guys are actually quite aware of hackers before clicking any URL that has been spread ;).

 

 

 

And for the discussion...

 

A 0% score of those who allready knew this isn't it? It's even another worser then I expected :(.

 

Anyway also I am amazed Jagex more or less hides this ability.

Jagex did announce the inclusion of linking email addresses to runescape accounts a while back

 

they also did say it was being introduced to current accounts as well as newly created accounts (there will be topic in Jagex archives somewhere, probably RSOF)

I made an account a few weeks back, and had the option of linking the account to my E-Mail address, so I did so and checked it out on my main account, however it said that I'd have to wait for a news announcement before I could connect older accounts to e-mails. o_o

Email thing does nothing, it used to be optional years ago when you signed up, it literally means nothing, Jagex used to contact people via emails basically, that's why they used to ask you to have one, but now they don't.
