Yes, it is pretty damn weird, especially since they were cartoons but it does not warrant legal action to be taken against him. You can call him sick, disgusting, twisted, whatever, it's all fine by me, but he should not get in trouble for just looking at cartoons. As for the people who actually go around molesting children, put them on death row for all I care, but the guy in the article isn't one of them as far as we know.

You're right though, looking at it (in the form in manga, not actual pictures, because it does affect the children then), hell looking at pornography in general doesn't mean they'll become a rapist. If it did, then just about every male on the damn planet is going to end up a rapist.

 

 

 

While I wouldn't consider the ones you listed to myself, I'm not going to go against those who commit them. Actual CP however, I'm against fully for reasons that should be clear. Though we need a better definition, and less double standards. I mean, here we can legally have sex at 16. However, pornography is 18+, including those in the form of photographs. I can understand if we were talking about real CP here because there is exploitation involved. They are real people being recorded and you are just encouraging that type of market by being a consumer of it. Representational things are different though - there are no real people involved. Just like in GTA, you can run around killing and hijacking but it's just representational. No one's being harmed so you shouldn't get in trouble for it.

Manga though, thats a bit insane. They sell some manga at walmart, i'm sure its clean, but it's a baffling arrest considering the sheer amount manga produced. I recently ordered a gundam DVD from a website that shipped me a catalog that had a "Tear out" hentai section in it. I was somewhat offended as I dont want hentai showing up at my doorstep, but damn, I think this ruling is harsh, and I am very much against CP.

This is more than just some hentai and watching it, its about defining the line between illegal or not. Child pornography is only illegal because of two things: sex is illegal for anybody under a certain age, usually 14-18, and that most of the time children don't want to do it and its rape.

 

 

 

But if its not real children? A well-known anti-RuneScape quote reminds me of this, "It's just pixels." It's just pixels, don't waste 10 hours a day on this game. It's just pixels don't waste 10 years of your life on this porn. But ultimately, you cannot force anybody to stop if they're not hurting anybody. The children drawn represent children, yes, but also people in other forms of porn or media are too. Rape pornography, when done either legally through acting or drawn on a piece of paper, just becuase it's showing rape, doesn't mean because I look at it or I decided to beat to it I should be punished for it.
