June 17, 200917 yr It seems they did a live update sometime yesterday that changed the chance of the icons and statues dropping. I got a 450k statue with 3% and some more with 0%, later that day with 41% ep and 4 ish more kills I was getting rubbish, and got around 200k total. Maybe that was my luck, but Jagex stopped the gravy train which shouldn't have existed. What do you think will rise first? Coal? Yews? Essence? Slayer drops? Some combination of all of these will have to become my new diversified portfolio; perhaps 2/3 of my cash into items to protect against inflation. Rares in the past have always increased with inflation due to people having nothing to put their money in, however this was before luxury amours such as god swords and spirit shields. I bet it'll be those that rise.
June 17, 200917 yr Even without AFKing, it's still easy to get EP. 4 iteming +mining with brawlers. I get pked every so often, losing the 20k worth of ores I just mined. However I dont care. As I said, the new systems seems like it generates a lot more profit per hour, however it's pure cash, which becomes a problem. Oh ya I do agree with you very much that all that GP coming in isn't a good thing, but I think the massive amount of pure cash coming in is a byproduct of the real problem, which is that EP is WAY to easy to get. If EP% is harder to obtain = Less GP comming in, and thus solves the issue. What you said is very true, and that is also one of the things I think need tweaked as well. You should be getting more EP for killing someone or being killed, rather than skilling. And you should get 0 EP% for standing around doing nothing. I'm sure more things need tweaked, but at least its a start. The whole system is flawed in the first place. EP can't be made harder to get, because for people who actually want to pk(IE, risk millions), they don't want to waste their time standing around gaining EP. Also, If I go on a winning streak, say pking 3-4 people in an hour(banking in between, so it's not like I gained 50% ep from this hour...probably didn't even gain 25%), the more people I kill, the worse drops I get. So by being a better pker, instead of being rewards, you're hindered. In conclusion, making EP harder to get is not the answer.

I don't think they did somehow, I've done some tricking today and I've gotten a lot of statuettes and other decent drops amounting to an obscene amount of cash. As far as I'm aware it is still the same system as when they updated it.
June 17, 200917 yr So, do you still get them even if you don't get a target? Anyway, nice update. Many believe that the 1980 eruption of Mt. Saint Helens was a catostrophic geological event, in reality it was the day that Jimi Hendrix returned to Earth from the next world and actually stood up next to a mountain and chopped it down with the edge of his hand.-Random Youtuber
June 17, 200917 yr So, do you still get them even if you don't get a target? Anyway, nice update. Yes you can get them without a target. I'm not sure whether I like the update or not. It's made me a boatload of money but I'm afraid that so is everyone else and the that economy is being flooded with 100's of billions of coins. Massive inflation + removing of drops will probably cause the prices of those items to skyrocket. I think there should be a lessening of the drop rate, but with the amount of changes already made to pvp I'm not sure Jagex can save face and change the drops again.

Just stay ahead of the game, Jagex will realize the issue(I'm sure they have systems that keep track of the amount of GP in the game, and i'm sure it's [bleep]ing after this update...
June 17, 200917 yr Does being f2p or p2p make a difference on the average price of the artifacts you get as a drop? ~It's Super Effective! June 17, 200917 yr I don't know if everyone's quite as lucky as what's been posted here- with 20 EP and risking well over 75k, my best drop from about seven kills were adamant platelegs. If the CORPORAL beast is this hard, imagine how hard a GENERAL or COLONEL beast would be. a corporal is not even an admirable rank in armies that use that ranking system. Yeah, it is a pking minigame, so any arguments anybody makes will probably be biased. The best way this will end :Everybody just says,"I'm not arguing with you anymore, goodbye."The worst way this will end: I don't really know, psychological warfare? Worldwide thermonuclear war? Pie eating contest?
June 17, 200917 yr I had 92% i did the 26k trick and got 2 saradomin artifacts worth 570k and 1 scim! :) that brought me down to 28%
June 17, 200917 yr wow the rewards are way too good, they really should nerf this it takes 2 hours to get 100% ep. I got it 3 times and 26k'd afterwards. from 100% to 0, I got 4M, 2M, and 7M total in drops. That's just ridiculous. What?

Aren't you supposed to be banned :-) But yet, from what I heard this update is bringing billions of extra money in the game. Sometimes I feel like they never think about the consequences of updates. And N64, I wouldn't be too sure of that actually (that they keep track of the amount of gp). A Guide to Chinning in Ape atoll: up to 325kxp/h!

But some relativization (sp?) is needed too. Inflation in Runescape isn't nearly as bad as IRL. Runescape has no government who could get major problems, no pension savings people really need, no major companies which could cause huge unemployment, etc. Yes, some people may be able to afford a bit less, but that's not nearly as bad. When everything's been said and done, more has been said than done. All skills 80+

And N64, I wouldn't be too sure of that actually (that they keep track of the amount of gp). They might not, but it couldn't be that hard to implement. I'm sure each account name is kept in a database. It would make sense to store everyones bank information(specifically GP in this instance) in another table in the database and link it all together. A simple SQL script could sum the total amount of GP in banks. The only problem is this would fluctuate daily depending on what was bought/sold. But Networth wouldn't be that hard to implement as well. EDIT:Just thought it out, every item bought through player to player interaction just exchanges hands, therefor the money wouldn't be destroyed. So again, this should be easy to implement.
June 18, 200917 yr Author Well after a day or two playing around with PvP I am impressed with it concerns over inflation aren't really the big concern, there's a fine balance, people get pjed with claws and such regularly and lose out on loot or even AGS etc, I have been pjed for a torso amongst over things. I also think if dfs, ags, whips etc get inflated, people may get back to regular monster hunting for cash, such as; Barrows, Mage Training Arena, Slayer, KQ, Tormented Demons, Dagannoth Kings when Beserker ring goes back up will be worth it once more (not forgetting you actually gain decent Mage XP at Dk's where as sitting on your bum with 75k you don't and you have some fun). At the drop rate here people are more likely to post pictures IF they get a good drop, I've gotten alot of junky statues with this update. Also if people make a Mill or two it isnt a bad thing players always find a way of making money if it isnt at PvP bandos will be even fuller, slayer spots will fill up quicker, and better it be making money without harming anyone, such as for example; Luring, House Luring, Scamming, Hacking, Price Manipulation. If your concern if with Inflation, knock on Merch Clans doors, which do atleast 3 of the above things in my harmful earners
June 18, 200917 yr How about the introduction of another money drain specifically tied up with pvp worlds? I know i would definatly pay a rather hefty price to repair my Vesta.... Rather than just buying another set streight away... Still annoyed at just because i can kill 4 people an hour I have to stand around and fish/mine for a few hours to get my ep back before i can go back to it.... Solo GWD'er Drops: Bandos Hilt x 1/ boots x 1 / Steam staff x 1 / Shards x 9 99 Str/ 99 Att/ 99 HP (More to come...)
June 18, 200917 yr I definitely have to try this out before it gets fixed. Anyone want to 26k with me? I'm level 80 :P

If your concern if with Inflation, knock on Merch Clans doors, which do atleast 3 of the above things in my harmful earners I don't think you grasp the concept of inflation. Someone losing an AGs doesn't counter inflation. That AGS is an item, not coins. The 70M someone payed for them is still in the game. Coins are only leaving the game through skills like construction (planking) and summoning (shards). And there's a difference if people make money here, or at Bandos. If they make money from pvp, they get money by creating money actually. If they get money through Bandos, they get money because someone pays them GP that's already in the game. No money is created here. A Guide to Chinning in Ape atoll: up to 325kxp/h!

Edit: I should have read all posts first -- the post right above mine already made this point.
June 18, 200917 yr No big worry about inflation. If lootshare and godwars didn't forever ruin GP like was predicted then neither will this.

Why is this such a hard concept to understand? :wall: Ya this does bring new money in, but as Jagex has stated before, sometimes their reasoning for updates is unclear to its players because they cannot see the large scale of things. For all we know, they planned it this way for a giant money sink update comming in the future, or maybe some other reason. Either way, I wouldn't get all uptight about it. I guarentee you Jagex have known about the *problem* since day one, and either planned it being that way, or will change it annouced or un-annouced in the near future. Ya, hundreds of millions are comming in each day, but that is a very small percent compared to the hundreds of BILLIONS already in a game. Inflation isnt something that happens overnight, so nothing to be to worried about.

It's a video game, therefor its not a severe issue.(Took me a while to realize this.
June 18, 200917 yr I was just now trying to log into a PvP world when I saw both of them were full (PvP, not BH worlds). I've been in PvP every day the last week but there were always about 750-1250 people in each world. Does anyone have a clue why today has seen such an increase? Could this be some sort of a delayed effect of tuesdays update? I'm just a little annoyed I can't get in.
