If you plan on conquering nations it might be a good idea to join the EC, but if you are a peaceful nation you can join a defensive pact with Norway, Sweden and Finland. The terms of the pact are that we will all go to war to defend any of the nations that are attacked. However, if one of the group decides to attack another nation Norway at least will automatically sever the alliance ties.

 

 

 

Those are diplomatic agreements, as for economic agreements if you want to join Nopec as an oil producing nation you would be accepted. To sum it up: Nopec is an oil cartel to battle OPEC. OPEC's purpose is to keep oil prices low so people buy more, and are less likely to switch to alternative fuels. Nopec's purpose is to charge higher than market prices (OPEC prices), and steadily increase how much higher we go (currently 2%, increases by 2% every year) in order to sell less oil, at a higher cost. Right now because demand outstrips supply we will not be selling less oil, so we will make more money. However, people will see the need for alternative fuel, so our advantage will peak around 5 years from now. The 5 years after that oil revenue will shrink down to the level it would be at if we all followed OPEC pricing. After that it will shrink more (but there will always be a demand for oil, just not much for energy). So the benefits would be more money in the next 10 years (peaking at 5), plus you will be helping the environment. The cons are potentially less money than you would have got with all oil being OPEC pricing through these 10 years, but only after 10 years.

I'd like to nudge the Iranian nuclear program forwards, so that the first commercial reactor can be completed within the next year.

 

I am also willing to sell surplus Uranium if anybody needs it.

 

 

 

Having a rather large amount of oil and gas reserves ,I would increase the amount being extracted, and would like to set up trade routes for those, if possible.

 

I'd like to join nopec, as well.

 

 

 

Somehow, I don't think I'd be very good at running a country.

well, the united states has been busy working all day and has reviewed 12 pages of this thread.

 

 

 

i've decided to reduce the number of troops waiting in the reserves, as i see no need for them, this will save the military some money that they can use to research better fuel economy for our large ships and airplanes. the research will allow us to have a better fuel economy for our commercial planes and boats as well.

 

 

 

in a bit of a scientific update, we have developed an irrigation system that takes in rainfall, filters it, and stores it for use in case of some sort of an emergency that cuts normal power supplies in our cities. this is particularly advantageous to cities in desert areas, such as las vegas or phoenix.

 

 

 

in an educational update, through aggressive campaigns to teenagers about how important finishing high school is, we have raised our graduation rates by 10%, we expect this number to keep growing.

 

 

 

in a technological update, our technicians in silicon valley have been working to improve SSD (solid state drives) for laptops and mobile electronics. we have shrunken the size of them while still increasing their capacity. this makes portable electronics like ipods and laptops and mobile phones and such more resistant to information damage due to dropping and being clumsy.

 

 

 

in a social update, we have sent party supplies to all major cities for the upcoming new year, which will in turn make more jobs for clean up duty, and increasing the morale of the average citizen, as everyone is invited to the megabash expected to take place.

 

 

 

in an economical update, we have slightly lowered the federal tax rate that was used from worker's paychecks, leaving a small bit more money in the citizen's pockets on payday. the exact numbers depend on what you make and how much you work a week, but we believe that americans will celebrate a bit by maybe buying something they've been trying to save money for, and helping the economy by doing so.

I will use my handful of available airplanes to send you a fair amount of diamonds in coming months, but at the moment alot of them are being sent elsewhere. Expect the shipment within a year and a half. Unless Israel is willing to supply you with my diamonds to speed the process (as they are cutting them and making them more valuable). We shall see.

And to the Argentinians, how do you have aircraft carriers? Each takes atleast a year to build, and Argentina had no aircraft carriers before this game. Also, destroyers have pretty much been declared useless. Almost all modern navies have ditched them. The US currently has no destroyers, for example.

 

In Brazilian news, three of the four planned aircraft carriers have been completed and are now docked off our coast. The fourth, due to it's immense size will not be completed for 6 months atleast. 12 frigates and 6 cruisers have also been completed.

 

Our older aircraft carrier, although slightly modernized will be decommissioned in a few years, though for now it is stationed just of the coast of Angola, where we now have a 20,000 man garrison on our leased land from the government.

 

In other news, the Government HQ is being constructed at an undisclosed location.

 

 

 

In Cultural news, Carnaval will take place in a few weeks, all the hotels in Rio are sold out, and tourism is expected to break records.

 

In technological news, the first Brazilian underwater independent housing unit (UIHU) is being tested in 200 foot deep waters off our coast. If this is successful, we hope to move to deeper waters.
