indy500fan
My country already runs on 99% hydroelectricity, in the real world. I didn't do that in one year of governing. I've actually tried to do as little as possible because according to some polls Norway is the best run country in the world, and in many specific polls it is in the top 5 or top 10. Best not to screw too much up. I am running out of things to do however though. So a few posts ago you "accidentally" mentioned something about a monster with tentacles I believe, I thought that was going to be announced today? Or is that tomorrow? Norway's health system is horrible. My friend is quite seriously ill but because of the system, she isn't being seen by a doctor other than her GP, who tells her to go to a hospital. I think she's waiting on her test results or something, but she got a letter today saying she "wasn't a priority" - how the hell would that make you feel? 'Tis I, 'tis Vindice, 'tis I! fastortoise
So a few posts ago you "accidentally" mentioned something about a monster with tentacles I believe, I thought that was going to be announced today? Or is that tomorrow? Well since I am urging everyone of the Council to be as realistic as possible, I guess I'd be better off announcing our new experiment some other time. Well there's really no point in playing a game where you can be killed for treading on the wrong toes... I don't know what you're getting at, rocco. I'm letting everyone decide the laws which will govern the new world, they aren't my creation. Once we decide which laws we prefer, people who do not follow them (conquer Europe in a day or lose oil dependency in two) will be punished. I am definitely anti-war, but if we decide that there will be war, I will not employ my DeathRays when a more powerful nation takes over another, as long as it's done realistically. Hopefully that cleared things up. I will need more opinions, especially those posted by Rocco (with his 7 or so new points). All are taken into consideration, do not fret. And Lent, yes. ThurinEthir
TROPICAL FRUIT. Though I'm still importing large amounts of oil (at rather high prices, I must say), I've decided to begin installing hydro-electric plants along the major rivers, and wind farms on the plains. (With all these typhoons, I'm sure these will get a lot of use) However, I'm not generating nearly enough energy to power everyone, so I'm still relying quite a bit on coal and oil. I've restarted the mining of domestic coal (especially with the newly discovered mines), so I should be fine there, but oil... I would love to start a trade agreement with you, but my only concern is the tropical fruit. Taiwan and Finland are quite far away and have a huge climate difference. Assuming the fruit gets all the way to my country, how well will it keep in a subarctic country? I have no doubt my people will enjoy such exotic food, but it will likely be ruined at some point. We could get around this by backing up the trade with cash. As in if the fruit is ruined or anything you would back it up with a similar value in money. I would do the same if something happened to the oil on the way to Taiwan. Tropical fruit for oil? If such a deal were to happen in real life... Would you prefer high-mountain tea? I'm sure that could do fine in subarctic climates. It just has to be cultivated up on my mountains. Uh...Yeah. Let's back our trade up with cash. :uhh: So apparently I was allowed to check my Blackberry or something on my flight, so I've been updated on this meeting. My thoughts: I don't have uranium. :( Though should I gain control of poorer countries in southeast Asia, I would attempt to spread these vaccines. My military is mainly there as a defense force. And I'm only spending 2.2% of my GDP on it. Alliances are important to any country. I'm actually kind of surprised no one has tried setting up a UN-type thing. War between countries with leaders would be rather confusing and complicated. I would say avoid it, though that could get rather boring. Leave room for rebellion though. If a seizing of a region involves battles, it should take multiple days - depending on the countries involved. (If, let's say, the US invaded Mexico, it would take longer than if India invaded Nepal) I would lift the 1-country rule tomorrow. After that, if people want to join in, and want to take an already claimed country, they can fight a resistance war, or something like that. If a human-controlled nation would like to take another nation, they must give plausible reasons and methods for taking it. No "Okay, I'm China right now, I'm also going to take Burundi, Ghana and Romania." Nations with inactive leaders would fall into a state of chaos, perhaps even into civil war. It would be up to other nations to instill peace, if they wish. And can I just say that I don't think this will last very long? Don't expect it to last longer than two weeks. And I'd still say that's a stretch. So perhaps increase the pace? Cenin pân nîd, istan pân nîd, dan nin ú-cenich, nin ú-istach.Ithil luin eria vi menel caran...Tîn dan delu. indy500fan
The only rule I really thought of deals with war, and how to handle that when someone isn't there (work and sleep take up most of the hours of the day) Basically to expand on what rocco said, you can't conquer a nation that someone is controlling without them getting a chance to defend it. After a four day period of no response you can assume they probably aren't going to be responding, so I guess we can figure out some way to handle that. Also when taking control of your nation assume that it has what it has in real life, military, resource and government ect... Then you can spend your time getting it to how you want it. Entire systems of government/economics you can change quickly by just saying a revolution or something. You resources though are pretty much going to be what you have, you can just use them more wisely. Military takes time to build up, and a built up military costs money constantly, not just an initial investment.

OldJoe
How much for the entire reserve? Germany demands that Romania, Austria and Hungary to be kept out from the EC and continue as free countries. My new pipeline from Romania is growing slowly but steady. It will be finished in a couple of years. Wisp
To whichever European country said they'd sell me a few jets like 6 pages back, I accept. You know who you are, and I don't want to re-read everything again. Ok, for fighting, here's my suggestion. Africa is mostly unclaimed. How about that is the main unclaimed part of the world, and thus that's where most fights will take place. If the two Asian factions want to fight, I think that's down to them. I don't think any countries should have protection from magical death rays in space. If they want protection, they should either train a military, or join an alliance. Most people won't be willing to attack any alliances, since it would result in too many casualties for them, so you'd be mostly safe. Also, I'm going to cut most diplomatic ties with anyone outside of the americas. I don't want to have to defend someone half way around the world. I like your suggestion for Africa, while not wanting to discriminate against the continent, I enjoy the idea of a race to control unclaimed land.
