Do you consider this to be against the rules/reportable?

Featured Replies

First of all, i never do this, and i hate to see people doing it. When i ask them why do they do it, they just answer ''because i can''.

Switching protection prayer ON/OFF between hits, avoiding prayer point loss and damage. There is no way that it was meant to be like this, cause they basicly make pray pots useless, and save tons of money for the people who use it.

The only thing I see wrong with prayer flashing is that I suck at it.

I second this notion.

Indeed.

Besides, this takes a good hand-eye coordination, I doubt this is against the rules. Also doing this makes the usage of prayer potions slower, but you end up using them. People do this on easy things, you don't see people pray flicking at GWD do you?

Well tbh, i manage to do it pretty much everywhere(ive tested) but i havent been doing it so far cuz i thought that its against the rules. Maybe ill start doing it from now on if i dont get bored from the clicking

it's not that hard. It's just very tiresome. So I usually don't bother.

When you flash piety people can't even see it, except that you hit 50 with a whip.

Just got to have a good connection to be entirely successful.

I only do it if i have a few monsters left on my task, other than that it's too much trouble doing. I don't see it being against the rules though.

i don't see why you'd think it's against the rules; basically it's just turning your prayer on and off

oh man.

I've come to master the prayer flash.

I can do a task of 180 aberrant specs with 70 prayer points or a task of 56 iron dragons without the need of a prayer potion.

Why would you pray the entire time when you are only being hit *some* of the time?

Save you the prayer, money, and time.

More clicks, why would this be against rules? It's also risky if you get connection lost or something...

exactly risk....

and no its not they did mention it awhile back on rsof.....

instead of being a panzy and putting the shield in fornt of you the whole time you jsust put oit up when ur about to get hit...

and what bug abuse?................prayer isnt glitchd..and if it is its been glitchd for 3 years and imo if a glitch is there longer than 2 weeks its not a glitch...take sara safe spoters....it wasnt a "glitch" at all as the way npc are supose to behave, that is not running through eachother, they changed it to prevent uber safe soloing....flashing has been around forever.....

a prime example of bug abuse would be the dream speel in lunar books when it was released you could cast it as fast as you could click on it....players knew this was not how it was supsoe to be and took total advantage of it..however no one got band because more ore less it was jagex Q&A department that should of caught that

prayer flshing is hard to amster and hard to do a long time u get really tired and you do eventualy run out of prayer points

James_scholl.gif

It's not bug abuse lmao. It's NOT a bug to be able to turn prayer on and off... Never thought something so stupid would come out of my mouth.

Not against the rules. Case solved.

Its a great money saver/efficiency increaser, but it is tiresome, and requires a lot of attention.

With 70 prayer I could do a whole entire task of anything, spectres, waterfiends, irons, etc that needed a protection prayer. I flash piety on every other task. I love it ::'

It's a technique called 'prayer flashing'. Basically you turn your prayers on for that attack turn, evade whatever damage the attacker did to you, turn them off, and continue. Allegedly it conserves prayer, but I find it to not be worth the trouble of just leaving prayer on until the attacker is dead, and turning if off inbetween attacks.

...Alright, the Elf City update lured me back to RS over a year ago.

It's hard for me not to prayer flash as whenever I just leave it on I feel like I'm wasting money.

Zerker_jane.png

It's nothing wrong with it. It's a player technique.

Jagex fixed it once, but then changed back again so you could do it. Why would they do that if it would be against the rules?

Even though with pray flashing you still will need prayer pots.

Because I'm rich and refuse to do an extra THOUSAND or so clicks to save about 40k or so in Prayer Potions.

This, I play this game for fun. Clicking about a thousand times in order to be a little bit more efficient doesn't seem like fun to me.

M_A_R_T.png

This is and should not be reportable/against rules. The advantage you get is something you have to pay alot "mouseclicks" to maintain.

I don't do it though, it's not my style/waste of time for me.

Gives you something to do.

Unless clicking completely tires you out or you have carpal tunnel, I'm sure the "extra clicking" won't kill you (unless you screw it up xD).

Maybe it's just me who gets bored just sitting there with protection pray on.

1337.jpg

Protection prayers let me do other things without worry. I'm not going to click my prayer 20 times on and off while fighting a monster.. that would be boring and tedious.

flashing is not restricted to protection prayers. You can do it with any prayer: piety for instance.

Piety drains really fast. Therefore flashing is sometimes a decent option. If you can be bothered.

spuriousmonk.png

spuriousmonk.png

I hardly ever use piety enough to justify flashing.. the only prayers I regularly use are protection prayers.

ill almost always piety flash if im fighting tds with gs/halberd, but thats about it. i can never get the timing for protection prayers

I'm gonna be walking down an alley in varrock, and walka is going to walk up to me in a trench coat and say "psst.. hey man, wanna buy some sara brew"

walka92- retired with 99 in attack, strength, defence, health, magic, ranged, prayer and herblore and 137 combat. some day i may return to claim 138 combat, but alas, that time has not yet come

I don't think it should be against rules, but I do think it should be nerfed. Is getting carpal tunnel really what combat should be about? I hate the feeling of praying a task without pray flashing since I feel like I'm wasting money, but if I pray flash combat gets boring and my wrist starts to hurt.

In any case I wouldn't consider it a large issue, at all.
