What movie(s) did you last see?

Featured Replies

Grosse Pointe Blank - Pretty good. I like John Cusack, he is one of my favourite actors. It's kind of a comedy, in the subtle way.

25th Hour - Two more of my favourite actors, Edward Norton and Philip Seymour Hoffman. I remembered really liking this movie the first time I watched it. Didn't remember much of the details, so it was almost like watching it for the first time. Great movie.

Sin City - My favourite comic book movie, and one of my favourite movies of all time. Absolutely awesome.

  • I haven't finished it yet, but started watching Forrest Gump...now I understand the line "Run, Forrest, Run!" at least <_<.

  • I watched Ghostbusters last night. Funny movie for those who haven't seen it.

Dr. Strangelove: I can't even describe how much I loved this movie. Great humor, great acting, awesome plot and extremely interesting characters.

I mean, you have the awesomely ridiculous bodly fluids theory, a redneck pilot, and the hilarious president ("You can't fight here! This is the war room!"), not to mention General Buck and Dr. Strangelove himself, who are both awesome.

I really should watch more of those really good movies.

Thirteen Days: I really like this movie. I feel that it's not because of the movie itself, though. The story is where it's at.

Lonely Hearts: I don't think they should've given out the ending in the beginning. I always like to think the criminals will escape to the Caribbean and live a great life spending their money.

Also, boobs are shown. And aren't Salma Hayek's. Disappointment.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005) - I prefer the original, it just seemed to flow better and not focus so much on special effects and Willy Wonka. I also didn't like Charlie's grandpa in this one.

V for Vendetta Bought it so that I can rewatch it and it's still amazing! The 1812 Overture gives me chills because it's such a good song.

A History of Violence This one was ok. It was really good leading up to the climax but then when it did.. not so much power or explosives to give it fake power behind it

The Fifth Element - Awesome SciFi movie, but a little bit different than the norm. If you have watched Leon: The Professional, which is directed and written by the same person as this, then you know what I am talking about. You can definitely tell his style.

Edward Scissorhands - I love Tim Burton movies. Awesome.

The Girl Next Door - I've been watching a lot of teen movies lately, so when I saw this on the shelf I thought what the hell, why not. After watching about 20 minutes of this, two things were running through my mind. 1. Not another teen movie (heh, just like the title of the teen movie genre parody). 2. Elisha Cuthbert is very hot. By the end I didn't mind that it was another generic teen movie, but I think that is going to be the final one for a while.

Deja Vu- well it was ok, the plot was kinda far out there.

It was very entertaining still :D Just watched it now.

Blazing saddles - Mel Brooks parodies a western.

High Anxiety - Mel Brooks parodies Alfred Hitchcock movies.

History of the World: Part I - Mel Brooks parodies, well I guess historical movies.

I just received my Mel Brooks box set, so the next few movies will probably also be Mel Brooks movies. These first three have been hilarious. I think I enjoyed High Anxiety the most, since I love Alfred Hitchcock movies. The Psycho scene had me ROFL, literally.

Apocalypto- Err... This movie isn't that good and there are a lot of flaws to it. Massive use of slowmotion, lack of character developement and a plot with random [wagon] scenes that are suppose to add to the drama going on.. but don't 4/10

Superman Returns - Hadn't seen it yet, and was curious. Came out on DVD this week, so I decided to see it. And it was alright, not too great. Looking forward seeing "Son of Superman".

Miami Vice Colin Farrell should be shot, damn he is annoying. Other than that the movie wasn't very inspiring and pretty boring. Mann's trademark city overlooks were pretty cool, but that doesn't save the movie of course.

Finally got to watch some movies (I don't have any time during the week now with homework, and I work most Friday's and Saturday nights). I got off work at 8, so I watched 2 movies after that (ended up going to bed at 5am ;).

First was Pirates 2...I can't believe this is so popular. The first movie was pretty entertaining; a fun kind of movie. I would say that this movie didn't even near average status, it just wasn't good. I'm not sure what it was...Perhaps a poorly written story with a considerable amount of bad dialogue, annoying characters and the fact that there really was no advancement at all of Bloom and Knightley's characters and relationship. It was 2:30hours long and I have no idea where it went.

The only redeeming features were pretty neat CGI, nice settings and some pretty funny action sequences and physical comedy. Overall I would say that it managed to make the original worse, which is never a good thing.

Second I watched You, Me and Dupree. I would deem this an average comedy, one I couldn't possible recommend, but also one I couldn't tell you NOT to watch given the chance. It's never painfully boring or unfunny, it's just not that entertaining either. Pretty funny ending though.

@Mr. Putter:

I also didn't think PotC II was as entertaining as the first one, it just didn't have that something special to it. The first one I have watched a few times, I'll probably only watch the second one more time, just before the third one comes out. It's not bad, just nothing special.

Robin Hood: Men in Tights - Probably my favourite Mel Brooks film so far. It is also rated the worse out of all that I have seen so far on IMDb. I don't know what that says about myself, but I am OK with it. I think my opinion of this movie may be greatly skewed because of the actors in it. Robin Hood is played by Cary Elwes, who plays Westly in The Princess Bride. And I loved that movie. Then there is also Dave Chappelle, and Isaac Hayes. Last time I watched this movie was so long ago I didn't even know who Isaac Hayes was at the time, or just didn't notice (voice of Chef, on South Park). Even with my biased view of the Robin Hood stories, I still found this movie hilarious.

Silent Movie - I have nothing against silent movies, in fact I have really enjoyed the ones I have seen. While silent can be better for some films (Chaplin), they aren't good for Mel Brooks films. He tried, but IMO didn't pull it off very well. I wouldn't mind seeing a new silent movie by somebody, just to see if modern day directors/writers could pull it off. It would have to be a low budget movie though, no studio would ever back something like that. It might be better that way anyhow.

The Twelve Chairs - Even though I was pretty disappointed with Silent Movie, I was more disappointed with this one. So that makes it my least favourite so far. It wasn't bad, just didn't make me laugh as much as the other ones. Possibly could have been better with a more imaginative ending. It seemed really obvious to me.

I still have two more Mel Brooks movies to go, then I move on to my Billy Wilder collection.

Elf - I know I've reviewed this at least once in this topic, maybe twice. Anyways, I enjoyed it, as always. Will Ferrell was great, and Zooey Deschanel was hot, as always. If you want to watch a Christmas movie with your family, this would be a good choice.

I saw Stranger than Fiction. I should read reviews more often. I thought it was gonna be a comedy :|

To Be or Not to Be - Mel Brooks' WWII NAZI film. IMDb lists it correctly as Drama and War before comedy, of all of them this has been the least like a comedy. Still pretty good.

Young Frankenstein - I didn't even notice this movie was B&W until about 20 minutes into it  . Of all of his that I have seen so far, this one has been ranked the highest. I thought it was pretty good, probably not my favourite though. You gotta love Gene Wilder though.

High School Musical.

Watched it with the family. I couldnt help but laugh during most scenes.

I just find it funny how this is supposed to be a real highschool then BAM! They break out into a perfectly choreographed song and dance routine where you can totally see that teh actors are lip syncing.

Anchorman - Was an ok film, relatively funny. The usual cast, Will Ferell, Vince Vaughn, Steve Carell, nice appearences by Ben Stiller, Jack Black, Tim Robbins and Luke Wilson. No sign of Owen Wilson tho, i guess he was busy? And how could I forget Christina Applegate...? \' mmmmmmmmmm :P

I was feeling in a "I love Ms applegate" mood afterwards so I decided to watch Surviving Christmas which is just awful but shes very pretty in it ^_^

Nothing wrong with the first one, it is a decent kids movie. But there is something wrong if you watch 2-11. They absolutely suck, I don't think even kids like them.

With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.

Avanti! - A little different than a normal romantic comedy, one reason is the length. It is two and a half hours long, but it fills it up quite nicely. I've been pretty happy with the Billy Wilder movies I've seen so far, I still have six new ones to go through though.

"24" season 1 and 2 - Heard a lot of good things about it, so I figured I should check it out. It's pretty good, but parts of it annoy me more than I'd like. For one example is the beginning of season 2, Kim is babysitting a child that is being abused. That storyline plays out, felt like I was watching a made for TV movie on the Family Channel. I don't care for the child abuse story line. It has nothing to do with the main storyline. It was only in there to give a reason for Elisha Cuthbert to have a part in this season. Actually that is a plus, I like Elisha Cuthbert. But she was actually had a reason to be in the first season, and no reason the second. Oh well, I'll continue watching the seasons, I don't see this being a TV show that I keep up with every week. It's probably going to be one that I watch when they come out on DVD.

There are 11 of them now?!

I remember when 5-6 came out(ish) after 3 I never really watched them. 1 is easily the best of all of them, and 2 is alright(I mean, it shows that they don't just live happily ever after once they reach that valley)

Blood Diamond Same old, same old, just another movie on Africa. Sure it's "educating the masses" but the people to see the movie have probably seen Hotel Rwanda or Black Hawk Down. And then at the end.. they're like SH** NOW WE'LL TRY AND MAKE YOU FEEL BAD (insert made-up statistics here)

Arrested Development Season 2 such a good show, I blame the government for cancelling it for all the shots taken at it

I watched World Trade Centre. It was quite mediocre. One thing that was annoying is that it wasn't engaging enough to keep me awake. And it seemed like it new that. So they'd be underground for 10 minutes, then the action would come and some rocks would fall on them and that would wake me up. And that happened bout 3 times it a row. It also really didn't bring up any rememberances of 9/11. None of the people in the movie seemed all that concerned at the time IMO, even the police which really got me confused. It was OK, but United 93 was about 10 times better.

bestsiggycopy5bo.jpg
"24" season 3 - A lot less of the the things I found annoying, the story wasn't quite as interesting though. They actually had a reason for Kim in this episode, so that was good. They didn't need the President's story, so that was bad. So far the first three seasons haven't quite lived up to my expectations. Season 4 I just started, and it isn't looking too good. Pretty much a completely new cast, only two people stayed on.

I watched V for Vendetta at school yesterday  movie. I watched Ocean's 12 after that. I still love it.
