October 18, 200916 yr I really like the 2010 medals, they capture the essence of Canada nicely and are a lot more unique and creative than other Olympic Medals. The whole idea of splitting a larger piece of First Nation's artwork so that each medal is unique from all the others is really what makes them so special. :) This article gives a little more insight to their design and has some more images so you can really get a close up look at them. Also for the first time, the medals are not flat. Instead, they have an undulating surface intended to represent the West Coast landscape of mountains and waves and drifting snow. That kind of explains why they aren't flat. Besides the design has a smooth kind of flow to it so it's not some bashed up piece of metal. You almost have to live near Vancouver to realize how the medals do reflect the 2010 games and the elements of where the games are taking place. As for the 2012 logo, all I can say is that it wouldn't look too bad if it was a different colour rather than the purple-pink. As has already been said, it's only the athlete's concern how it looks and the athlete's probably shouldn't care anyway. It has a nice background story as well, and incorporates Aboriginal arts into a modern installment of an age old tradition of the olympics. Couldn't have gone better in my opinion.
