If you're thinking about it from his perspective, it would obviously sound logical to him - infect her with HIV and other men won't want her; she'll feel inclined to stay with him because he'd be the only one who would understand what she's going through (being HIV-positive). You obviously don't know how to put yourself in other people's shoes.

If you're going to justify this with logic based on perspective, then you might as well say what Hitler did was fine because in his mind it was the logical thing to do. His 14 years in prison will make him realize that what he did was wrong; whether it was selfish or not doesn't matter. He probably killed his own wife, and that's the only part that matters.

He sounds like a child, perhaps he's just very sheltered? The whole "no sex outside marriage" thing is something a few people have being indoctrinated into by religion. You do know the reason marriage was invented was so women could be treated as property? It's only in the past couple of hundred years (if even that) marriage has being linked to "being in love".
