I'm having a lot of trouble dealing with the Nomad. Can someone suggest a good technique?

85 Attack.

85 Strength.

95 Defence.

90 Hitpoints.

75 Ranged.

77 Magic.

72 Prayer.

80 Summoning.

EDIT: With 71M sitting in the bank, cost really isn't a worry. :^_^:

Ruby e is an epic failure with brews. You simply take way too much damage and die too quickly. Additionally, the brews wreak too much havoc on your stats for you to land any hits.

This quest either has a trick not yet discovered or requires extreme luck alongside nearly perfect technique. I haven't even come -close- to killing nomad yet.

With my stats I took unicorn, and used range with ruby bolts only. Used leech defence, magic and range and soul split prayer. Took around 6 super restores and rest brews. Killed him having 12 brews left.

I failed quite many times using same tactic without familiar (thought you couldn't use them because didn't try calling my yak on first try with it) and being on old prayers (changed for old prayers for quest because there was 70 prayer and knight waves completed in requirements..). Got him red barred in that way once, though: http://www.runescapetop.com/up/images/33306.png (no, recoils don't work) :P

With your current stats i'd suggest using brews and super restores in tortoise and healing titan after he dies. 1 good tip is that you don't always have to restore your stats with sr after ever 3 dose, you can keep drinking brews and afterwards use relationally less restore doses. Yes, I suggest ruby bolts, remember their spec is undependant of range level.

Lucky ags/dclaw specs can be good idea too :)

Using protection prayers didn't seem to do much to me.

From what i hear in my CC is that people with 95 prayer are using Turmoil to melee or Leech Def/Range if ranging and have Soul Split to help keep health up. A friend did it only using sharks and regular ranging potions while having 95 prayer and a yak to hold supplies.

I just died for the 5th time on him using different gear and weapons every time <_< got him closest with ruby bolts (e) full range void and restores/brews but I only had 12 brews and the rest sharks because brews don't buy...

Wow, this new quest sounds dangerous. Is the last battle safe though (in the sense that if you die you don't lose your gear)?

99 HP, Attack, Strength, Defence, Summoning, Ranged, Herblore, Prayer, Agility, Magic, Slayer, Fletching, Fishing, Woodcutting, Mining, and Thieving.

It's as close to safe as can be without being safe. If you die, you get your grave in the graveyard thing in the Soul Wars area, and you appear next to the tent. So if you can't get your stuff within the alloted amount of time...well then there's something wrong.

you lose everything destroyed on death and in a familiar

You respawn by your grave

Your grave is actually a few steps away, but as said before, if you can't get back in time, you've got problems.

So, no-one's come up with any revolutionary easy new way to beat him?

When i saw the requirements, thought this was a fairly low-leveled quest, but I guess it really is GrandMaster in difficultyunsure.gif

I personally specced with bgs, ranged using ruby e bolts until he was at half health, then switched to diamond e until he went berserker and finally finished him off using a z spear. My gear was: Helm of neitiznot, accumulator, ruby e bolts, fury, rune c'bow, karil's leathertop, mind shield (lol, but every mage def helps I guess?), karil's leatherskirt, barrows gloves, snakeskin boots and an imbued onyx ring. Inventory: Bandos Godsword for speccing, Dharok's platebody + Verac's skirt + Zamorak spear for when he goes berserk, 2 extreme range potions, 1 extreme melee set, 5 super restores (4), 4 normal restores (4), 13 sara brews (4) and 18 more in a war tortoise. Ended the fight with 7 brews (4) and 1 (2).

However, this probably only worked for me 'cause I have 92 range and the access to extremes. <_< Due to your ranging level, I wouldn't recommend trying to range him but instead you're probably gonna have to go melee. You should still bring a crossbow and diamond bolts for when he freezes you and uses his -1 max hp hit, but just don't use ruby e then because if the spec goes off exactly as he hits you, you're dead (don't laugh it actually happened to me...) You can use my setup only replace the snakeskin boots with infinity boots if you have them and ditch the mind shield altogether. For your primary melee weapon try both a zammy spear and whip + defender, I personally had more luck with the spear when I tried but that's not enough data to say it's actually better. As for a speccing weapon, either go for dds/d claws/ags for high damage, or try to lower his defence with bgs/darklight/swh.

You may also want to try melee void, I used this on my third try with a zamorak spear and it was my second best attempt having died just after he healed the second time. Note that the four first times I tried to beat him I used rocktails and ran out of food every time (except for the ruby e incident <_< ), then I switched to brews and won on my first try lol. So I may have beat him with this setup if I had used brews instead of rocktails.

Now for tactics, first of all I cannot stress this enough, brews>rocktails partially because you can attack in between sipping doses if you time it right. This alone should help you tremendously, and if you're having trouble mastering it definitely practice with attack potions on yaks or something like that. The trick is to sip right after you attack and quickly attack him again.

Anyways second tactic is to run away directly south (or away from the throne if south isn't the right direction) right as soon as he starts laying his mines 'til you reach one of the furthest pillars, either the southwestern most one or the southeastern most one. Hide behind the pillar so he can't attack you and if you do it correctly he'll run up to you to try and get you in his field of vision. When he gets close enough step out from behind the pillar and attack him. When he says "you cannot hide" or something similar, hug the side of the pillar that would block his line of vision of you. If you do it correctly you should avoid his automatic 75 damage attack, saving you a lot of food/brews. He'll also try to run up to you once again to attack you, but in my experience he'll get himself stuck. During this time you should quickly heal to full health and make sure to go out and attack him asap, otherwise if you're outside his line of vision for too long he'll teleport back to the throne and heal himself to full health.

Shortly afterwards he'll clone himself and there will be 4 Nomad's in the room. The last one to attack you is the real copy, so run up to him and whack him to make all the other copies disappear.

After a bit more time he'll teleport you to the center of the room, freeze you and start charging up his super epic attack of pwnzers. At this point you have to heal up to full health or you will die. Preferably heal over your max health using rocktails/brews, and as soon as you're done this pull out your range weapon and start hitting him. As soon as he hits you with the attack heal yourself up and start whacking him again.

The cycle of mines->75 attack->clones->uber attack will then continue until he reaches about 1/5 of his health, at which point he'll heal himself to half health. After this if you manage to get him to 1/5 of his health one more time, he'll start his berserker melee rush. Right as he starts this, get your melee gear on and get ready to heal A LOT. Things are pretty hectic here so try to keep calm and when you can attack him. With a bit of luck he should go down, and you'll have beaten one of Runescape's hardest challenges!

Ooo, thanks! I've been using Ranged for the last few tries (about five or so) as I didn't think i'd be able to Melee. Hopefully with that I can beat him. I worked out I could dodge his 75 attack by myself. \:D/

Thanks again. Now I should go stock up. :^_^:

Remember though, he uses a mage-based melee attack like bloodvelds do. So wearing D hides would be your best bet. As for when he goes into beserker mode idk if it still is mage-based or not, but it seems like it should be.

Holy [cabbage]. Wall of text.

Anyway, forget about tactics. Eat to max before 75 hit, brew to max before HP-1 hit. Bam. You're set.

Take highest BoB filled with brews, 4 super restores, 5 normal restore pots (Note, you can drink 4 doses of brew per normal restore pot, unlike super restores), some sharks, and the rest brews. Wear black d'hide (or karils/armadyl), zammy spear (stab), and best gear you can take after that.

If you can't safe fast enough after the HP-1 attack, take 2-4 phoenix necklaces and wear them right after he freezes you. It'll help you out in your masticating ventures (yea, I went there). I wouldn't even try running behind a pillar, since you can easily eat to full hp after the 75 damage hit. You could... I'm just saying... I didn't. Forget about pure sets/ext pots, since brews will kill your boosted levels before you can get 5 hits in with them. Don't worry about his berserk mode. You can take a set of melee armor for when he starts using melee attacks, but he's very inaccurate, so there's almost no need.

Other than that, good luck. It's not a very hard fight, since you know when you're about to get boned sideways, which lets you safe to max hp before said boning.

yay I beat him

This was my setup

Zammy Spear

Ags

Full Black Hide

Neitz Helm

Fury

D Boots

Barrow Gloves

Explorer ring 3 (yeah I'm to lazy to play MA for a imbued ring)

Thieving Cape (T) (ok but this is my lucky thieving cape so it's special)

14 super rests

29 brews (18 where in tort)

How I fought him, just stood there and tanked the whole time.Though I did super set before I started and I used all melee leech prayers and soul split. Actually now that I've done it I want to fight him again Blue Sw Cape ftw

Cant beat him :( . Got him down to 1/4 everytime but only have like 2-4 brews left and just cant dish out enough damage to finish him.

I can 100% dodge his mines and the 75 attack, but I just cant take him down fast. Usually I have to eat around 10 ice barrage + hp-1 combo before get him down to 1/4.

My inventory is 1bgs for spec, 1zs for the last 1/4, 10 normal restores (run out of super restores, ge wont sell), rest + war tortorise is brews (dont know why brews can still be bought fast in ge even now).

I use sap mage during the encounter.

Gear:

neitz helm

glory

black d hide set

ranger boots

barrows gloves

ava's accumlator

rune c'bow

blessed spirit shield

diamond ring (i)

ruby (e) botls

EDIT: Killed nomad finally, pretty much the same setup except a bought a super attack and a ddp++ instead of bgs. Close call though, only 1.2 brews left.

In fact I run out of restore pots first, the killing blow is actually done by the war tortoise -.-

I'm assuming you all know how his attacks work and the pattern they go in. I also tested zs vs whip + defender, and whip is better by far. My method:

I just beat the nomad.

Stats:

90 attack

90 strength

88 defense

92 hitpoints

82 range

96 magic

70 prayer

67 summoning (got it just for this quest)

60 herblore

120 combat

Equipped:

Full melee void

Dragon dagger

Rune defender

Untrimmed skill cape

Dragon boots

Broad bolts

Fury

In Inventory:

Whip

Rune crossbow

1 Prayer potion (4)

12 Sara brews (4)

6 Super restores (4)

Rest was rocktail

Also had a tortoise full of rocktail, with left click option set to withdraw BOB.

I took 1 sip of a super set and ate a rocktail at the bank. Went down, prayed piety, and used up my dds specs. Then I switched to whip, and hammered away. During the fight, I ate the rocktail first to conserve my boosted melee stats, and withdrew as needed from my tortoise. Prayer potion ran out at about the same time my rocktails did. As soon as he started charging for his 2nd attack (the one that hits 75), I ran south of of minefield then due east to behind a pillar. No need to hide before then. While hiding, I took the opportunity to eat/pot. During freezing attack, I switched to rune cbow and eagle eye prayer, and used dds specs whenever the spec bar got above 50%. When he went in beserker mode, I also switched on protect melee prayer. Other than that, it's mainly sipping pots when you need it; most of the time I kept my hp above 32.

Void works because the 15% to accuracy and damage really helps, and its magic defense isn't too shabby. I tested void range before my successful fight, and it works well too. Good luck to you all.
