Last Tuesday, we released a poll that asked you to decide on the item that Commander Connad would next offer to recolour, in the same manner as the abyssal whip.

 

Today, that poll has finished and we are happy to announce that the dark bow has been chosen by you to receive different colour options!

 

You can expect the dark bow recolouring options to be released in a future game update. If you would like more information about how you will be able to recolour the bow, and how you will be able to change it back, please visit the Barbarian Assault page of the Knowledge Base and read about how it is done with the abyssal whip.

The longer it takes to come out, the higher dark bows price will rise. My guess is that it will come out pretty damn soon.

I don't even see why Darkbow won.

 

I mean when you wander round runescape you virtually never see dark bows, most ppl jsut use them to spec on pking.

Shouldn't take too long either. It's just a recolor on an existing item. No rebalancing or tweaking or anything. They just need to decide the colors.

And darkbow is also read-"ish" so I imagine it'll be the same and have a white option.

Well, it's good for slayers. Can't really complain too much. I just wanted more infinity robes to have a reason to come into the game.

I actually voted for Lunar Staff, as it was the only one I use often.

 

I dont even see that many Dark Bows in game anyway, but I suppose it might be good for rangers

Its not really even a training weapon.

 

The only time its ever used in is PVP, and really only for specials.

Oh I was really hoping Infinity Robes would get a recolour :(

I doubt it would come as a surprise, but when I mentioned the poll in-game to a few other people, most of the responses were along the lines of,

Other Player: Because I've got a few in my slayer tab ^.^

Other Player: I don't care. I don't like any of the items anyways.

It's really kind of sad that so many see this poll as just a chance to earn some money. It may even backfire, so many people stocking them up, trying to sell them when the update comes only to find that no one actually wants the Dark Bow..

 

What's worse is, I feel a lot of people really overlook some of the items on the list. The Crystal Bow really isn't as bad as a lot of people think - I still use it frequently myself, and I have several good options for the shield slot freed by a crossbow. Many people complain about Infinity, and completely forget that Infinity Boots are a standard piece of most magical get-ups, and Infinity Hat matches Ahrim's Hood in +magic attack.

 

I don't necessary think a choice is "right" or "wrong", I'm just disappointed that people have skewed the results for twisted reasons.

Exactly, Runescape nowadays is all about making money- and for what? Most rich people who get their money from "merching" (yeah, it's not real merching) just have it for show, people who work for their money just have to watch how their long wanted items rise in price and they won't get them...

Me too, voted for them too, they were already collerfull but I'd like to see them in other collors.

I'm not happy with the result, and I really don't even see how it won; all I've heard from others was how they didn't want Dark Bow to win or just didn't vote for it.

I voted Crystal Bow but would have been happy with Infinity Robes or Lunar Staff.

That's not really a problem. Jagex already said they'll try to keep the colors from being too gaudy (with the exception of Infinity Robes, which is meant to be bright and flamboyant).

I was disappointed that there was no poll option for "none of the above" or "other".

infinity are an ugly pink. the boots are very useful and clash with any other gear. the hat looks ugly with most set-ups, and the whole set consists of many items.

Bleh, why did people vote for the dark bow, nobody ever uses it, bar PVP'ing.

 

Although TBH, I didn't think it was a good choice of items.

GREAT! Normally you let the merchants buy out all the items after the update, but now you give them a heads up so they can buy it out BEFORE.

 

I'm sick of all these [bleep]ing item based updates where people can easily ruin it for everyone else if they're rich enough. It's like they're delaying the release of the update for those who don't pay through the nose with onyxes, rares, and [cabbage]ton amounts of cash for an item not even close to being worth it. The staff of light is STILL unbuyable in the GE, so it's like there wasn't even an update at all for me. Now Jagex is giving merchants a HEADS UP so they can make sure NOBODY enjoys the update but them? Dark bows are bound to be millions, and still rising, when this update is finally released.

 

That's why I wanted lunar attire to be colorable, so I could actually enjoy the update when it's released, not so I could be denied my update because some snot-nosed [cabbage] headed [puncture] merchant clan decides they want to get some more geepees by buying out all the FUN.

 

SO STOP MAKING EVERYTHING IN THE DAMN GAME BUYABLE, AND IF IT IS, DON'T GIVE THE [bleep]ING MERCHANTS A HEADS UP!

 

This is becoming a game ran by purely money, and ruled by those rich and heartless enough to buy out all the fun and delay the update until they're satisfied with their pixel profit.

Who doesn't have a whip already? I'm just annoyed that more and more of the game is dependant on money, and the mercy of rich little merchants that buy out all the fun. I wish they'd have chose a non-tradable item to be recolored, like the lunar equipment. Dark bows are ugly as hell anyway. I think that these stupid merchants voted for the dark bow JUST TO PROFIT OFF OF IT. Not only do they ruin the update by buying everything out, they demand Jagex makes the update crappy in the first place just so they can profit off of it, so once you can finally buy your dark bow, you ask "why do I even want this ugly piece of crap anyway?"

 

Updates nowadays are just seen as opportunities to make a bit of profit, and ruin it for everyone else.
