I have been trying for the different 100% combinations on my own, not in a cc. I can almost always get 3 and get 1 medal.

I especially like the predictability of starting times and the limit of plays per week. Jagex did a lot of things right with this D&D.

Looks like this is just the thing to kick start me to 99.

i always get 5 tackles right but never gotten the 6th (in 6 competitions). Once i was really close, i only had the range wrong for the 6th, but game ended before i could get it right :P

Anyway, this dd is beast with a dedicated cc and imo that's the way its intended to be played (it even hints at that in the knowledge base article)

PS: If you are a high level and you whine, make sure you've completed the elite ardougne Diary. If you've done that and at least half the champion scrolls, then you can whine :P (for those who can, feel free)

The Champions' Challenge isnt exactly high level content =/

Yeah it's not and it's not something all people will do, because it's not really engaging content its mind numbing killing of monsters that have no advantage of killing them unless you get one from slaying by some odd chance.

I can whine all I like though I pay my membership fee and I'm entitled to my opinion, I didn't realise there was a requirement to whine!

Thank you.

You know you belong here.

There's a huge difference between most of the posters here and the ones on the RSOF, and you know that. You seem to have some sort of strange vendetta against anyone who dislikes or disagrees with anything that Jagex does or releases. There's a certain irony in your directing an intelligent poster and maxed player like Smellysocks to the RSOF. What have you contributed to this thread besides your petty attempts at belittlement?

Even if you're maxed out and post intelligently most of the time, it doesn't mean that your post makes sense all the time.

The above is clearly a poor attitude that you'll often find on the RSOF. "I pay I say" in proper English. Without the name 'Smellysocks', who's going to find it intelligent?

Neither do I find your "We need high level content" post for every update very intelligent either, morningrise333. It's a known fact that high level players need high level content, but you posting on a recent update thread makes it as if the latest update is causing Jagex to forfeit another high level content, especially when both the Shattered heart and this update has been beneficial to all levels and generous with the EXP, and FUN in the latter case.

Either way I get the feeling that they're holding back for a large high level update.

I used the word whine because the previous poster did, I agree we do need a blend of content, quests low/high level, skill content low/high level, bridging gaps & varying the gameplay to keep it interesting and fresh, I don't mind this D&D but the only way you can succeed for medals is use a clan chat such as Fish_Fling1 for the fish combinations such as Sea Bass/Bait/Hook/LMH <- Light medium heavy weight count for 100%.

I think this is a suggestion I saw a while back on "message in a bottle" where you'd stumble accross a bottle fishing and could do another type of activity apart from now its triggered with an npc for fishing rewards

I don't think that idea would be better than the current Fish Flinger. If it's going to be totally random as to when you receive the bottle, then chances are you can't plan your activity except to fish and fish for the bottle. If the timing is going to be randomise for every single player, it's impossible to hold a competition-like event without everyone coming into the lobby at the same time, unless it's a whole different event altogether, which then brings up the question of how good the new event would be.

I think the main issue is players who want to take advantage of every free/fast EXP where possible. Not saying that it's bad, but personally I find it pretty tiring to play in such a manner, and I doubt it's the intention of D&Ds to force players to go hunting for them. I normally don't bother with 'scheduling' my Bork and ToG events, which may account for the gap of one to two weeks between FoG, or me missing a day of Bork.

Evil Tree would be the best D&D idea is terms of 'distracting players'. Strategically located, sufficent in-game notice, it has distracted me from my GE trips way too many times.

This argument stops here, okay.

Any more going on calling people pretentious or arrogant is simply going to be removed. This thread is for the update, not for squabbling.

So we can't talk about if the update is good/bad? Or why we think it is good/bad? Or what type of people might like the update?

No, my posting about wanting high level content is exactly what it looks like: I want high level content! There's no crazy alternative meanings you could derive from it. Case in point: I agree with you that Shattered Hearts and Fish Flingers are beneficial to all levels and are generally good updates, but it doesn't change the fact that Farming ends at 83 and the highest level armor and weapons are level 78 and degradable. You don't have to like my posts, but you can't deny the validity of my concerns. If you're really so bothered by it, simply put me on ignore.

To Racheya: Seeing as how this is a forum for discussion, and we haven't begun to flame yet, I really see no point in removing posts. We're not off-topic until we start discussing the weather in New York this week.

and I want an egg sandwich for breakfast tomorrow.

So, how's the weather in New York this week?

Silly me, here I thought this thread was about fish flingers and not about appologizing for Jagex's goal of making hundreds of updates for those in the lvl 3-20 range where most people spend less than 2 hours of game time.

Guess I ought to go over to RSOF and ask them if they think the combinations are randomized at the start of a game...

I am 99% sure they are randomized, otherwise it would be too easy.

As long as you don't go off-topic with another "We need high level content" post on every future update, high or low level. Honestly, for someone like me who's interested in the discussion of the update itself, especially when I'm F2P at the moment, you're not helpful in supplying infomation or thoughts.

And I doubt any guest reader who clicked on this thread would be interested in how much you want high level updates, as opposed to what this update actually entails.

No. It is merely tabulated on your score sheet and counts towards your eventual tackle box purchase. You can get Master & Junior Angler medals in each game you play.

I wrote up some basic Rules for fish flingers.

these are based upon the logic of the game itself and my own experience. feel free to point out any errors

Fish will never share a bait, hook or range

Fish in the same habitat furthermore

a.) have bait that do not share any properties (shape/color)

b.) have hooks that aren't similar ( for example, bone and wood)

c.) are not within 1 range of each other

for example. a cod that likes worms on a slim hook at range 3 should not have a salmon partner that likes maggots or shrimp, standard hooks or ranges 2 or 4.

range table

posted in this format this is just a basic guideline.

assuming you assign larges then adjust with small and medium

(range) -(#small)(#medium)(#large)

1 -010 weight 2

2 -001 weight 5

3 -002 weight 10

4 -003 weight 15

5 -013 weight 17

6 -004 weight 20

7 -005 weight 25

Has anyone been able to catch salmon at all? I've gone three games in a row without sight of a single one, and when I check the details after the game, I've used the exact combo at the right location and caught something else...
