Hip Hop & Rap

Recommended Posts

I've noticed there aren't so many people here who like this genre of music so I thought seeing as there's one for electronica music, I should make one for Hip Hop and Rap, would be better to have all the guys who like it talking here instead of the odd thread that gets 2 posts or so.

So yeah, downloaded B.o.B's album last night, I recommend the song Airplane Pt. 2 to ANYONE.

Yeah Airplane is one of my recent favorites. Both the version with Eminem and without.

I'm big on the real southern sounding rappers. Can't stand those from up north like 50, jay z, etc. Love T.I., Ludacris, Boosie, Jeezy, etc One exception is Wayne, can't stand him. His old stuff is decent but can't stand his new stuff. Lyrically I don't think you can beat Eminem or Ludacris, I find them to be the best in the game.

I only know a few that I like. Adam Tensta is one of them, a Swedish rapper (he raps in English though). He mixes rap with electro and it sounds pretty sweet. Tensta is a suburb in Stockholm where he grew up.

- Song starts at 0:43.

Adam Tensta - They Wanna Know - A song about prejudices people have towards hip-hop, with clever and funny lyrics.

- Awesome SNES-inspired video.

Also Immortal Technique, such a wordsmith.

Madvillain is amazing. Basically anything with Daniel Dumile in it is gold.

Possibly not exactly what you were talking about, but she's so freaking cool!

Found out about this guy from Kanye West's blog and loved him instantly.

Cage is another good one. I'm definitely not a fan of Necro, but his producing is really good in this song.

Plenty of others btu that should do it for now. :)

Cool.

I know Adam Tensta, a song named My Cool or something? He's not so bad, Sweden seems cool.

Yeah, that's him. Not a huge fan of that song though because it was ridiculously overplayed over here that summer, and his newer stuff is better. Still, "that's my cool and I can't take it off" has to be among the coolest lines ever written.

Doom, Wu-Tang, Cannibal Ox, Del, and Das Racist.

Awesome stuff right there.

I'm basically the only one that likes Das Racist though.

Just downloaded B.o.B's album as well it's really good. My favorite song is actually not Airplanes which everyone seems to be in love with. The first track Don't Let Me Fall is really creative.

I am one of those in love with Airplanes, but seriously this is an album i can listen to the whole way through without skipping a song, really good for a debut album imo.

I have a real thing for good hip-hop in foreign languages because I feel a lot of them flow better than English. This is O.S.T.R. from Poland - his first two albums are some real good stuff, but I think this is from a later album. He is very popular in Poland as they're one of the only countries in Europe that still favours hip-hop and metal over pop and rock. I can only understand a bit of it, unfortunately. :<

Rap is considered music now?

No, we just like to pretend.

90's Hip hop and rap was the best!! well, for me though. I don't like the new stuff these days. but, I still like RAW hip hop/rap. Not the mainstream artists you hear from the FM radio, though.

Tupac Shakur, Notorious B.I.G, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, just naming a few 90's names for example.
