Things that annoy the HELL out of you.

One of the realities of OT (which many of them don't even notice I think), in that until your a regular here, many of your posts will not be respond directly to. I broke in when I came back by relentlessly posting on the today thread. Once your here enough that people recognize you, it flows nicer. It can make this place intimidating at first thought to new users here.

Right there with you. Which is unfortunate, because the main import of this province is wind. I like a little breeze as the temperature climbs, but yeah, not super winds. At least we don't get many hurricanes. Tropical storms are better, they have a nicer wind to rain ratio, and slower winds.

I hate hot and humid days (which is unfortunate, seeing as how I live in Iowa...) I love snow, rain, winds (never seen a tornado though), storms, the cold... basically anything that isn't heat.

I'd rather it be cold than hot. You can always put more clothes on. And I like the snow too.

Agreed with every single thing in this sentence. The heat screws up my thinking process and focus, making things worse that Summer is the time I have nothing to do and detest boredom to the nth degree. Can adapt in other weather situations, even prospering in them. Heat is the one bit of weather that I need a lot of effort working with...

Thing is, I've been in OT for something like 4 years. One would think you'd get recognized by that time lol.

Also, pretty funny MonkeyChee.

Actually, come to think of it, I think it could be that I don't debate enough.

Well, you guys hate heat but I love it! We just don't have enough of it here in Estonia, and that's why we have saunas for having heat in the winter aswell. One can see that if we have any sun and warmth at all, all the people are tanning on the beach or somewhere, because it is rare to have such warmth. But one such day was today and I loved it! Unfortunately I was drunk and left my sunglasses on and now I have a mark of my sunglasses on my face...

So I've noticed this thread's regulars all follow similar trends.

People who sign off on forums posts independent of their signature..

I don't get this either, especially on forums like TIF where you have not only the signature, but also an avatar and your username alongside your post so people can recognise who you are.

I always wondered what it was like being in a sauna during cold months, feeling that boost of heat and sweat and exiting the place to have the cold air slap on your perspirating skin. Is it something like that by chance?

Wait, what? Aren't you Finnish?

Anyways, going to swim in the sea after sauna or into an icehole or into a snowpile after sauna feels just amazing... I mean, run out from sauna being hot, into that cold, and then back to warm. Freaking amazing. Energizes one completely and makes one feel alive.

No, I'm an American. I am aware about how important Saunas are to your culture and it sounds really appealing given that it serves as a sort of rejuvenation (I wandered around in a culture textbook in High School instead of focusing on task). For the time being, I have to settle with a warm shower long enough before dropping it down to being completely cold for several minutes, but that doesn't really give me that alive feeling compared to getting lost in something.

The sun in general, but especially around this time where it looks like someone set up floodlights outside my window and 6AM.

So much said in so few words. Even I have almost zero interest in love and agree with the statement.

When I put a drink in the freezer to cool down for too long. There seems to be a very small window of time when the drink is nice and cold, between warm and ice chunk.

You might want to try using the fridge?

Or a cooler of ice.

Put the ice in water. If you just stick beer in a lot of ice, it takes forever to get cold. The water is a much better medium for removing heat than air is, and gives you a mcuh better surface area that is actually working towards cooling your drink. This is probably faster than using a freezer as well (because a freezer just uses air), if you happen to have a cooler of ice handy.

Things would get even goofier if you were to put salt in that water too.

I'm learning to drive starting today with my dad teaching me.

So we practice in an empty parking lot but all he constantly does is scream at me for doing things wrong. No positive reinforcement when I get anything right. If I accidentally cross a line in the parking lot its "OH COME ON YOU WOULD HAVE WRECKED THAT CURB IF IT WAS A CURB", I made ONE turn in the wrong direction because I heard him wrong and its "IF WE WERE ACTUALLY DRIVING YOU COULD HAVE KILLED SOMEONE, WHY DONT YOU EVER LISTEN TO ME?"

[bleep]ing aggravating.

It's honestly sad to see so many people not have the patience to teach.

I remembered having that issue with my own dad teaching me, but it was less on accidentally dying and more on me spacing out and raising insurance. To be honest, the "spacing out" was him inadvertently distracting me with irrelevant discussions. As for the driving lessons, it makes sense he'd panic a little over first time but it seems he is overreacting a bit. <_<
