Why is it that (seemingly) all higher level players....

...leave the coin piles of monsters that they've killed on the floor? I was killing Gargoyles today in Kuradal's dungeon for a Slayer task and two level 138s wearing full Bandos/Fury with DFS and whips kept leaving their coin piles from Gargoyles that they killed on the floor. Now I can understand that the piles aren't that big, but after 100+ kills (which is what the average task consists of) that can add up to a good amount of cash. I mean is that one extra inventory space worth the few k that would be there instead of a random object? Maybe I'm just greedy but I just don't get why it seems that some higher levels just leave basically free gp lying on the ground.

Your thoughts? Are you one of the people who doesn't bother picking up coin drops? Or....?

I'm lower leveled than you and probably poorer still, and just today I was leaving coins on the floor at gargoyles. I'm simply too lazy and, while I realize they will add up, I just frankly don't find it worth the effort :P

Even if we picked up every coin drop over years that would add up to what a few million? Something that a higher level player can gain within a days work. Sure maybe to some lower level that may seem a lot but usually the speed of killing is worth more then those coins.

I may be completely wrong, but i think players from rsc tend to pick up their gp. In rsc money was more of an important thing. Now it seems people look at it as wasted time to pick it up.

Reason i say this as i also pick up all coins, and i noticed you join date, i would be intrested in seeing how close i am in this guess.

Time saved >> a few extra gp

I started playing less than a month after Runescape began. I've been playing off and on(mostly off) since then. Still I pick up all coin drops until my inventory is full. I'll sometimes drop my coins if the pile is worth less than the least valuable drop in my inventory and there's something more valuable on the ground.

Damnit, I tripped over Magzar's half inflated blow-up doll and hurt myself. I wish he wouldn't leave that thing lying around. -.-

Because for me, saved time inevitably becomes worth more than a few extra GP. And to put this into context I also don't consider myself very high level... and I also haven't played in awhile.

Off-topic, is RS worth getting into again? Summer's coming up and CoD/Halo games are losing their luster for me. Just PM me if you actually have an answer because I don't want to draw this topic on random tangents.

Pirate Rosetta stone. Learn a language while you scape.

Sounds interesting, but these days how many people really speak Pirate?

Time=money.

The time it takes to pick up those coins is worth more than the coins. Plus you'd have to consider the exp you're losing because time=exp(=money) aswell.

This should be applied to all activties in RS if you want to use your time efficiently.

They need to come out with something that collects your coins like bonecrusher buries your bones.

True. But you should also factor the time wasted in figuring out how to be efficient ;)

I was at Greats in Kuradels dungeon, and there was like a 137 in Bandos leaving them on the floor. Considering how long they take to die, I don't blame him. I pick mine up....more out of habit then anything. In all honesty, the money doesn't add up to much.

And no, they don't need to come up with something that auto-picks up coin drops imo.

Squab unleashes Megiddo! Completed all quests and hard diaries. 75+ Skiller. (At one point.) 2000+ total. 99 Magic.
[spoiler=The rest of my sig. You know you wanna see it.]

my difinition of noob is i dont like u, either u are better then me or u are worst them me

Buying spins make you a bad person...don't do it. It's like buying nukes for North Korea.

Well if it bothers you that the game is more fun now, then you can go cry in a corner. :shame:

your article was the equivalent of a circumcized porcupine

The only thing wrong with it is the lack of a percentage for when you need to stroke it.

I usually click to attack another monster before worrying about the drop from the previous monster. I also look at the coinpile to see the size before I decide if it's worth my time to pick it up.

Because even though the GP from monsters can add up to a few hundred thousand after a while, it still doesn't make more than the "high levelled" player can make in less time, doing something other than picking up those stacks of 200 gold.

rs is unique in mmo's in that most of your gold comes from item drops, and not gold drops. the amount of coins is so low that its just simply not worth losing an extra attack for it.
