June 24, 201214 yr I read somewhere (Cracked, probably) that that's a myth; birds will come back to their nest/eggs/young even after they have your scent on them.I'm more surprised about the fact that they raised it despite it not being their own bird. I didn't think an animal would do that.Think your right about the scent thing, but most birds are actually pretty stupid, and will gladly care for other chicks that show up in their nest. There are a few birds that exclusively lreplace the eggs of other birds with their own, and dupe those birds into feeding it (also might be something about the invader then eating the other chicks once its grown a bit). Might not work on say a raven (because they are really bright, not only for birds but animals in general), but I could totally see it working on a pigeon or robin or something.
June 24, 201214 yr It was the same parents (presumably), just a different nest. And actually, we used to breed these and would actually give the eggs to a different finch (Society) because the Gould's supposedly aren't as good of parents. Working on max and completionist capes. 2435/2475
