It's probably possible to find a map generator to generate a flat map, but I don't know where. You could also MCEdit an existing map and flatten it, but that'd take time. What I did was download a map from here:

Several selections there, some with the height of the blocks just shy of max (for digging), around normal sea levels (for normal stuff), and just above bedrock (for huge towers and such). Just pick one, extract it and drop it into your saves folder and rename it to whatever world you have free (World1 through 5).

The maps are 1024x1024 blocks, btw. There's a wall of bedrock separating the flat world from the outside (which from what I saw was normal, since I used a grappling hook to get on top of said wall). Hope this helps.

What if you made a portal? You might be able to get out.

Many believe that the 1980 eruption of Mt. Saint Helens was a catostrophic geological event, in reality it was the day that Jimi Hendrix returned to Earth from the next world and actually stood up next to a mountain and chopped it down with the edge of his hand.

Just went mining. It was uneventful, until near the bottom I found a huge cave system with 2 gigantic waterfalls that connected at the middle, then ran down a slope as one river into a lake of lava. The room contained iron, gold, coal, and diamonds.

Ooh what a perfect natural obsidian farm you got there.

I found two already in my mega-cave, one which looks like a nice place to build a outpost. I'm thinking of making an elevator from there to the surface (elevator mod).

I've also build a small hut in the Nether. If it wasn't for the fact you can't dump water into it I would make a little farm and use it as an advanced base for Nether expansion.

I'm also expanding on the surface: on my transcontinental railroad, and the canalization of the Hinterlands...a heavily forested region with the entrance to what I believe is another mega-mine. Abiet very slowly of course. Still focusing on the surrounding area of the Homeland.

Do any of you guys make a map of your world and start naming things like geographical points? Or am I the only map-freak who does it? :ohnoes:

Just a warning, this has very excessive foul language and is generally pretty rude. But it teaches you how to play mancraft.

That's simply hillarious.

Meh, its not that funny.

Anyone knows a link or understands how monsters spawn in darkness? If I want my arena to work I don't want to make it too small or too bright.

"Mobs spawn no closer than 24 blocks, in a 144 x 144 area around the player's location after a short delay. A player running through the game world will usually keep ahead of the waves of mobs spawning. Mobs are removed if they become more than four chunks away from the player. Enemy mobs can spawn on any block with a light level of less than 7, except Glass, Ice or Stone Slabs."

The darker it is, the faster they spawn as well I believe.
