Lovelost
Taken from RSC - Dark Invoker:
Well I've recently been hanging around a lot more on IRC, TS, forums and such after an 8 month Retirement from the game (and I finally got my RSC account back ). My return to the game draws nearer and it has influenced me to consider some of the negative effects this game can have on one's life. Being a clan leader or an official - I'm sure there are numerous situations where you've went out of your way to do something for your clan due to that feeling of obligation or even addiction. Likewise, I'm sure some members of clans have done the same. Whilst it's less apparent now due to the stagnant nature of PKing and clanning (or so it seems), most of us have been involved in the game for numerous years and I'm sure would have been more inclined to go out of their way in order to make an event during the prime of their clanning history. Which leads me to the question...

What is the most eccentric thing that Runescape / Clanning has influenced you to do:

My personal answer taken from RSC: What is the most eccentric thing that Runescape / Clanning has influenced you to do: - Back in Exodus, not sure if many will remember, but my computer was constantly shutting down during some tournement. We were fighting some clan later on towards the night and the problem continued throughout the day till 5 minutes before the war. It turns out that it was overheating, so being a quick thinker I ran downstairs to my freezer, pulling out some Eggo waffles. I placed them around my tower so it wouldn't overheat anymore, I made the war and it shut off right after. - In Titans fairly recently I held in a poop for about 3 hours - In Gk #1 I pissed in a bottle. - I've been apart of runescape battles infront of my girlfriend - I've made my mother give a speech, aswell as my father. - I've gotten my girlfriend to fish for me :> those examples are just scratching the surface though. CruelKiller
I have skipped tons of irl stuffs, school, time for my clan and also risk my laptop. In fact i do get to do stuffs involving IRL if i really care a lot of the clan I'm in. Note* I will like to hear your mom and dad speech. Tacatar
lol Ryan! Well I must admit that in more than one oportunity I went back earlier or finished earlier some irl stuff to be on time for a war. I´ve also ignored my boyfriend, who was talking to me, while I was on a clan fight  , and of course I had to deal with his anger later. Once I had to give a pill to my dog and instead of telling him to open his mouth I told him to "trade" me  I think that´s all ;) ♥ Ex Condemned Army Founder | Ex Silent Ember Council ♥♥ Aces of War Legend ♥

Nobody
I've attended a RL meeting with Gene himself, and then we fought in a war at the meeting. Other than that I balance everything pretty well. :P With love to one, friendship to many, and good will to all.

pumkinpie37
When CR fought EH in an uncapped run in i was prepared not to move for the night, I brought my laptop into a bathroom and sat on the toilet with no clothes on incase i instantly had to poop or pee. I got my brother to serve me thin slices of crackers and cheese so i could eat and i drank water out of the sink. I ended up missing out on take-out night (was A&W) and missed the TML game. Kimberly
For all that I claim to be an addict, I've never done anything so extreme. I don't think I have enough passion for anything, let alone a java-based game, to go to such lengths. People who do go to such extremes should probably take a moment to step outside their lives and wonder if they're on the path they wanted to be. Some of these replies were just downright absurd. Darkrai
I've put RS as a priority for the past four years, no wonder why my life has been dead for that time! Put life/education and all that as a priority the past 2-3 months, can't say I'm active as I was used to though. I have dreams of being a level 138 with maxed overall. Deltaer
Well when I first started playing back in RSC, I had no problems. It was only when RS2 came around, that I immediately joined a clan, and I was so into the clanning thing that I started to neglect my real life friends. Of course this was almost 7 years ago, and it didn't last too long.. as I realized how stupid of a game RS really was (after I started losing some of my friends), and pulled myself back. Since I've been back in the last year and a half, nothing really. I guess that's really minor compared to some of the stuff some of you have done (particularly, a "wtf" to pumpkinpie, joke?) Makaaveli
Lol, I wish I could play Runescape more actually, then I'd understand what half the people in my clan are talking about. But I just never got into it (apart from warring/clanning), which barely takes much time unless your in a top clan or something. BlasphemyWe choose to go...not because [it is] easy, but because [it is] hard, because that goal will serve to measure and organize the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one which we intend to win. ~ Blasphemien Way "Rest In Peace, Muelmar - A True Modern Day Hero"

I have to agree here. Spending a lot of time on a game is one thing, but doing absurd things like some I read here should make you think. If you skip basic stuff like toilet, meals or social contact for a game then you should worry about your relationship to it. I've seen a documentary of (addicted) WoW players who went to the store and bought food that was quick to eat, who used bottles to urinate & who drank unhealthy amounts of Red Bull all to stay awake as long as possible & to loose the minimum amount of time. They were so addicted that their girlfriend (was suprised they actually had one) had to log them in if they were coming home late from work to not loose too much time. I think this topic is, besides "funny", also a bit sad. I'm not saying individuals who do stuff like that all have a problem, but I am saying clans these days suck because of this mentality. I'm sorry, the majority of clans are filled with people who have obviously too much time on their hands, because I see no other healthy explanation why on earth you would spend 10 hours in a row in a stupid war just to fight out an e-battle where nobody gives a damn about. Clans used to be filled with people who liked to scape but saw it as something they could do as entertainment. I always found it amusing clan leaders said dedication was based on your bank & returning skills. I've been out the clan world for a while now, but I think nothing much has changed. That's also the reason that I respect 'The' alliance clans so much. They might not have the best structure, or the best outcomes but 'The', Gladz, ... are still clans as it should be. You have to be active, but you can be perfectly a member there and not have to spend hours and hours on (pointless) wars. Anyway sorry for the rant, wanted to post something like this for a while now and this seemed a good topic to do so.
