All_Is_Great
I have no idea why there isn't a topic discussing this, as I feel it's a pretty big issue. Here's the story: A 15 year old kid, Casey Heynes, is a bully victim at school almost every day. One day he snaps, and flips some little kid over and slams him to the ground (concrete, mind you). This video then went viral... Here's the video of the incident. Then basically he got interviewed, as did the bully, Richard Hale. Link to Casey's interview. Personally, I am very proud of Casey. He stood up for himself, and did the right thing to fight back. There are so many "Anti-bullying" campaigns I see all over the place, but what's the result? Kids still get bullied. Now that Casey did what he did, I bet you that people won't take him lightly anymore. In the interview, he says the reason he gets picked on all the time is because he doesn't retaliate. That's the problem. If a bully starts punching you, why can't you fight back without being punished? Another problem with this whole Antibullying thing is they tell the kids to talk to teachers, parents, etc. But the truth is, they're AFRAID to talk to the teachers, because most of the times, the teachers don't do a whole lot, maybe call the parents once, and give them some lines to write, and afterwards, the victim will get bullied more for being a "snitch", "[kitty]", etc. As for the kid Richard, I believe he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Casey just so happened to snap on him instead of the other people. Tough luck for him, he deserved it if you ask me. Didn't sound really sincere in his "apology". So what do the rest of you think? PS. sorry if this has already been made and I somehow missed it.

Gwasha
Finally a little basterd who got what he deserved. Good job to Casey. Could have done a lot more damage too if he really wanted to, Casey is at least double Richard's size. Video comment: "snorlax used seismic toss! it's super effective!" Made me laugh. sees_all1
From the video, I'm surprised he even put up with the first 2 hits, let alone 5. muggiwhplar
It's been shown that the majority of bullies immediately quit picking on a particular person as soon as that person starts retaliating, even with the smallest bit of resistance. They'd much rather pick on people who don't fight back at all.

Saradomin_Mage
I was actually quite happy with the outcome of the video.Despite the fact that he used a disproportionate amount of force in retaliation, the kid was really asking for it picking on someone twice his size, honestly. At least he walked out of it alive. And he's not going to get bullied again, that's for sure. When I first saw this on FB I actually laughed, oddly. mcneilp
Fair play to the kid, the bully had it coming. As much as it sounds bad, I agree with the OP that going to teachers rarely does anything to stop bullying. If the kid in the video had went to a teacher, that little [puncture] might've came back the next day calling him a grass or a snitch or whatever. Picking the bully up and slamming him off the floor has shown the bully he will retaliate (and in spectacular fashion at that) and has made sure that kid won't bother him or anyone again. Watch the "bully's" interview - he says the big guy picked on him first. He said the big guy told him to "Get to class idiot". Which a very possible reason is after he started picking on him. Possible scenario: Little guy starts talking [cabbage] to him, starts messing around, and gets told to "get to class". "Get to class idiot" vs getting punched in the face, slapped on the head, told to "lose some weight fatty". I'd say they're quite different. obfuscator
I think violence is never preferable but certainly sometimes the best option. Looking just at the context of the video, we saw on person trying to start a fight, and getting what he deserved. That alone deserves applause. On a related note, it's sad that teachers are so hands-off that it can get to that point. Everything about that says he was the antagonist.I'm not saying Richard was the victim, I am merely suggesting that maybe we shouldn't jump up one kid's ass and exalt another kid based on a 45 second clip. I've heard that Richard's family is pursuing a lawsuit or something of that nature, obviously there are things we don't know.A lawsuit was filled for a restaurant for not warning customers enough that coffee is indeed hot. There was also a lawsuit where the "Wet Floor" sign was tilted 90 degrees away from the incoming person with an employee moping in clear sight. My point is, just because there's a lawsuit it doesn't mean it has decent previous evidence to help or clear his name. He messed with somebody, got [bleep]ed over it. Doesn't matter who is the true bully in this case, shut the [bleep] up and keep to yourself if you want to avoid conflict. Star_Fox
I had several bullies in middle school. Mainly people who were 4-6 inches shorter than me but were huge jerks. One of the bullies became friends after he found out that I played Runescape. Another stopped bullying meafter we had the same P.E class. Common interest is the best technique I should say.
