Original level 100's

[Poopingman]

In present times attaining combat level 100 is no big feat anymore. Even 120 and up is not uncommon to see. We tend to forget how difficult it was before the advent of Summoning and other semi-recent updates to reach triple-digit combat level. Here is an extremely old list of the original levell 100 players during the waning days of RSC (I managed to squeeze in just in time @ level 100, I actually found this list by searching for "Poopingman" hoping to find old school RSC articles about me). While true, it's something Jagex has to do unfortunately. Otherwise the new player will be way too overwhelmed. You can't expect the new players to have to spend 5+ years just to catch up to everyone else.

Ah, I remember when I got 100 combat. At the time I got it all in F2P since I never bought membership. I remember the mindless hours at hill giants and eventually lesser demons.

 

I admit now it's probably easier than even back then. I guess people have become more knowledgeable now, added to the fact that new training methods have been added. (eg. giant spiders in the Stronghold of Security)

 

 

Searched through my old blog and found that. Too bad I couldn't find my 100 combat picture, but I guess that's close enough.

I'll admit in a way it's easier, but in some aspects it's bat[cabbage] harder:

You cant boss without being crashed, not like RSC.

You cant train gathering skills or even slayer at certain levels because of the FREAKISHLY INSANE amount of bots.

The "average" maturity of players dropped drastically and seems most 138's I see are 13 year old kids on a high. (not being high, difference)

 

Back on topic, I wouldn't even count in a list for Classic, most I got was 12 attack, 2 prayer and a red partyhat on Xmas. (Of which I have neither now)

The game mechanics themselves, have only improved through times to make all skill training easier.

So the game in itself is easier.

I played back in 2005. I thought people over level 100 were hackers or something. "Obviously the level cap must be 100!" I thought. Goes to show how often you'd see high levels back then, so little I almost doubted their existance.

I was 117 when RSC ended, RS2 started. So this was taken at least 4-7 months before that. ZEZ wasn't maxed combat in RSC.

I'm sure Zezima was 100+ by the time they came out with rs2, but he wasn't even close to #1 overall or anything at that point so wouldn't have been all that high.

 

Love how as soon as I saw the different levels I knew exactly where I was, I remember this list from awhile back. I think Kingleonardo used to make them?

That list is NOT from the moment when RS2 came. I don't remember the exact time when that list was compiled, but Kingleonardo (if my memory doesn't let me down here) compiled it in summer 2002. After that many people, including me and Zez (amongs with many others) got to 100+ cmb there, way before the transition to RS2. And I know for a fact that Zezima was at least 115 cm at RSC, will upload a picture if someone needs proof and I actually take a chance to see this topic :P

I started playing right after RS2 came out and although I didn't play the game a lot in the beginning and neither did I care a lot about the hiscores, I can only remember Zezima as the rank 1 back then.

Even tho he wasn't maxed out back then and there where loads of crazy storys around like he worked at Jagex and big compagnies payed him cash to keep on playing and strange things and he scammed loads of people their party hats and such.

 

After Funorb came he finally gave up and others took over.

 

 

Zezima is still the person who's rank 1 for the days ever in totall, so in my opinion the rank 1 of RS.

 

 

Back then things where completely diffrend, if you wanted full rune, even if you had the cash it would still cost you up to half an hour to get it, nobody around had the bars or ores or lvl to make it anyway.

If you wanted 100K steel bars, you still had to be busy for like 10 days, no matter if you had the money or not (and believe me, you didn't have the money).

If you where F2p you couldn't go on the forums, so you also just needed to have the luck the one who actually was selling whatever you needed on the forums actually had his private on.

 

Actually you where forced to be social, a bot could work if you only needed one material, but now with GE you can get everything you want with just a few clicks.

I can actually remember a guy posting he had over a 100K steel bars and most other posters around said it was impossible and he must be a hacker and a scammer and such.

 

If you needed like 1M gems, like most 200M crafting people from nowadays needed for their goal you wouldn't have a chance.

You could max get like a 150 gems each person that traded you, you would be busy for like 5 months 24/7 only to get the gems no matter if you where a billionair or not, nowadays people just get it in while they are asleep or train other skills.

 

 

Monsters like a Jad would have been completely impossible to beat, not just because of the armour and potions from nowadays didn't exist back then, but also: Who on earth had fast enough internet to controll their prayers fast enough?

 

 

That's a thing that still surprises me a little btw, in all those years Jagex their worlds barely became faster or better, while the computer they had back then probably costed like 3000 pounds each and nowadays is probably worth like 50 pounds max.
