In Georiga if we get any snow that sticks to the ground school closes. If it gets below freezing our school closes. Even if it rains too much our school closes.

This is the way the world ends. Look at this [bleep]ing shit we're in man. Not with a bang, but with a whimper. And with a whimper, I'm splitting, Jack.

Lucky. Freezing rain last night / yesterday and snow today. Last week was lucky since the temp was around 0 - 8 celcius. Freakin warm for January.

No school cancellation. And last time there was a huge snow storm warning, the school boards didn't close the school around here 'til the actual snowstorm. When the snow storm hit that night, by the next day, people already toook care of that snow. Sucks cause it was suppose to be a snow day, but half of my school didn't show up anyway, even some teachers, lol.

i live in indiana, about 5 to 10 minutes from the border to ohio right next to cincinnatti. got canceled here to, so my sister was off. the college i go to i dont think is cancelled.

Boo, we didn't get it very hard here in Marion County (Indianapolis). Only about 2 and a half inches. It was all cleared by morning, so I had school :( The first big snow, when we got like 6+ inches, my stupid school was like the only one in the state to NOT get cancelled. (Cathedral High School). We only had a two-hour delay

No snow here in MD... Just constant rain :(

When it does snow, the school superintendent always rips his hair out and cancels, because an inch of frozen, crystalized water is a huge threat to the drivers  . I mean, someone could get poorer traction driving in that kind of weather. What kind of moron doesn't cancel school when there's snow?

But then again, I don't drive so I can't say, but it seems to be not super super incredibly hard to drive in an inch of snow.

handed me TWO tissues to clear up. I was like "i'm going to need a few more paper towels than that luv"

No snow up here in the Bay Area. I've always wanted to wake up and see the street covered in snow. :(

lol

Yeah... I'm down I-80 in Sacramento and all it did was rain today for like an hour. But I'm taking finals so I get out at noon anyway so I could care less. I get Friday off too! :D

I would just like to brag that last year we had a snowday in the middle of april. We actually did have some snow, but very little, it was wayyyyy over hyped on the news (they said it was going to be really bad) and our school bought it  , the snow was all melted by the end of the day.

WE usualy aren't that lucky, our school doesn't even close when everyone around us closes. Only recently did we get a new superintendent who actually calls some snow days (b4 that we had one that called 1 snowday in like 3 years). But we usualy won't even get called off if everyone around us has snow days. I think we only get called off if a certain percentage of school buses won't start because its so cold, or something like that.

Some schools are closed in Estonia also. But its not the snow. Its the temperature. In the morning it was -28 degrees Celsius (-18 Fahrenheit) over here

Is like living on the North Pole or something. Oh and is windy also.

We rarely get more than two inches of snow over here, and it's usually melted by the end of the day.

However, last november we got hit by a freak snowstorm that dropped about fifteen inches over the course of the day. This may not be much when you're used to it, but over here it caused chaos. Since the soil was still above freezing temperature all the snow turned to slush, completely jamming up some of the roads. Buses and trains stopped working. Our school panicked and dropped all classes after the sixth period, so approximately 200 students were stuck at school, since only a few lived close enough to just take their bikes home. So many cellphone calls were made for help that we actually jammed up the network in the area of our school (our school is pretty close to the train station, so a lot of stranded commuters were probably calling their families as well). When the parents finally came in to call their kids, the streets became completely congested around the school, almost nobody was able to get in or out. When my dad finally did arive it had taken him 45 minutes to travel the 12 miles between my house and my school. It took us nearly an hour to get back.

The final traffic jam on the highways resolved around 6am the next morning. The total length of traffic jams on highways was a new national record. I believe it was officially the darkest day in 200 years as well.
