ItsCook
Just been having a quick search through GAME's website and stumbled across this - "GAME wallet is a safe and easy way to save and pay for the items you need to get the most out of your game. And it's the fun new way to spend your Reward Card balance from GAME, because it can now become your currency in the game!" Could JaGex possibly be getting into the business of in game item selling? (Incase anyone ask's i know i have like no posts - My old account (Guitar_god_2007) somehow wouldn't sign me in so made a new Tif Account. Saradomin_Mage
Maybe it's just another subscription method. I'm more inclined to want to believe that :P In real life MMO you don't get 99 smithing by making endless bronze daggers.
The_Gabe
Maybe this is how they plan on taking out the bots. Three months banishment to 9gag is something i would never wish upon anybody, not even my worst enemy.
Kaida23
Saradomin Mage is right, but could also just be simple web advertising. GAME's clientele obviously play online games so they'd be good targets to advertise to. Check out my blog to read the Adventures of a Big Damn (F2P) Hero. michel555555
next time your playing runescape or another game from our ever increasing range Ya... I'm getting the sinking feeling that their method of taking out 98% of bots will be jagex selling their own gold... [spoiler=click you know you wanna]Me behave? Seriously? As a child I saw Tarzan almost naked, Cinderella arrived home from a party after midnight, Pinocchio told lies, Aladin was a thief, Batman drove over 200 miles an hour, Snow White lived in a house with seven men, Popeye smoked a pipe and had tattoos, Pac man ran around to digital music while eating pills that enhanced his performance, and Shaggy and Scooby were mystery solving hippies who always had the munchies. The fault is not mine! if you had this childhood and loved it put this in your signature!

RU_Insane
I don't want to sound all panicky, but this really sounds like microtransactions: In a global first, the titles from a number of publishers and developers will be marketed in one place with customers able to buy items within them using their GAME currency: Reward Card points and a GAMEwallet top up card. Source The question to ask is, are the "items" they're referring to in-game items, or simply membership subscription? If it were the latter, don't you think the offer would've been worded differently to add greater clarity? Of course, I could be wrong, but if I am, they really should clarify what they mean >_> I mean, it could sound like microtransactions, but it isn't. RIP RU_Insane. SwreeTak
It's just membership I bet. Yes, I think so too. GAME is just advertising Runescape, and the top of the page have nothing to do with the bottom of it. At least that is what I guess. ForsakenMage
http://www.gamegroup.plc.uk/gmg_plc/investors/news/2011pr/2011-10-21/Launching as a BETA on 21 October, GAMEwallet will offer customers access to a range of digital titles including Runescape, APB Reloaded, Fight My Monster and Bin Weevils. In a global first, the titles from a number of publishers and developers will be marketed in one place with customers able to buy items within them using their GAME currency: Reward Card points and a GAMEwallet top up card. The latter part that is bolded is most likely referring to games that do offer items that you can buy with cash already. Jagex is probably going to just use this system for membership purchases, and as a convenience, being a part of this program would entice people who pay subscriptions for multiple games but don't want to have their number floating everywhere to remain in one spot, if I understood it correctly. ForsakenMage
I don't know if they also include the game cards that you can purchase at the stores. That'd just be like purchasing 3-months through Jagex's current system. o_o' But without the bonus items. Powerfrog
This sounds exactly like something jagex, the masters of marketing, would do. The only thing this will do is set a (probably way too high) price on gold for the RWTers, and then the RWTers will just sell it under jagex's price. Thankfully, as far as i can tell, not a lot of people actually RWT, not your average player at least. If every single person of a decent combat level suddenly gets torva over night i'll just quit and play a better game for the money. Boefore i get ahead of myself though, i don't actually expect them to be doing this. Especially as their post said they can stop reflection botting, which is a type of bot, which implies they're tackling bots head on and not throwing this out to 'stop bots'

Especially as their post said they can stop reflection botting, which is a type of bot, which implies they're tackling bots head on and not throwing this out to 'stop bots' This sums up my thoughts. What we've seen pretty heavily indicates that they're going to take on bots on a technical level, instead of throwing in the towel and doing micro-transactions. As far as I can see, it's just a bit of ambiguous wording/advertising placement that some people are taking the wrong way. ~ W ~
Bxpprod
Looks like an advert for something sold by game that has been linked to RS because you can buy RS P2P Cards through them, rather than microtransactions and alike. Flareboy64
This could just be like the loyalty program, offering skins and such (along the lines of LoL)... But that would render the Loyalty program completely useless, UNLESS they actually sell the loyalty points. [hide]99 Strength 99 Fletching 99 Range 99 Hitpoints 99 Attack99 Dungeoneering <3 99 Magic 99 Smithing 99 Herblore 99 ThevingSlayer Drops: 14 whips, 22 D boots, 27 Granite Mauls, 42 Effigies, 5 Dark Bows. What would be cool is if Drakan and his minions kill all the sig heroes in the quest except Raptor who is wrecking. You and him team up and cave in some vampyre heads. He becomes a total bro in future quests and in a GM quest he receives a fatal injury and his last dying words to you are "Brofist, mang"[/hide]
Kimberly
If we disregard the fact that they mentioned they still aren't into microtransactions within the past couple of months, it could be that they're selling those membership perks, like the ornate katana, for those who can't change subscription methods etc.

Carl
Hi guys, I caught this post and had to write a reply :) We are not selling in-game items, we are selling membership! We currently have no plans to sell in-game items and i don't expect our stance on that to change! Keep fighting the good fight :) Thanks Carlos Folks, As Mod Carlos has explained this, it's going to be a pretty fruitless discussion if we then carry on with the "But if they DO..." conversation. All that will do is cause a negative discussion for literally no reason. We're not selling in-game items or gold through micro-transactions. It's just a membership payment. Let's not just rant for the sake of ranting. All has been explained, there really is nothing to rant about here. Thanks, Mod Chrisso [qfc]16-17-219-63297448[/qfc] /thread? Jordyy
I resubscribed to members yesterday and that Game method was an alternative payment method for members. As for the extra stuff in the Game advert that might be for other games that you can do that on. But for now you can't do that on RS. 380th to 200,000,000 Cook.
