What is the Great Tip Pic?

 

The Great Tip Pic was an annual tradition here on Tip.It between in 2006 and 2009. Our community would get together for a giant group photo to show off to the world. Three years since the last edition, the Tip Pic is back and better than ever!

How can I submit my picture?

 

Open up the equipment bonus screen while wearing your favorite outfit and take a screenshot. Open the file in an image editing program such as The GIMP (free download) or Photoshop. Crop the image so only your character is visible, and use the magic wand to remove the brown background.

 

Tip: Turning off antialiasing will make it much easier to remove the background of your image.

 

Next, upload the image to an image hosting site (I prefer imgur.com) and submit it to me on this thread using the following form:

Can I have some tips on removing the background?

Just use the paint bucket tool and fill it with white. Or if you have GIMP/Photoshop, use the magic wand to select the background, then just press delete. Make sure it's saved as .png.

Here's an easy tutorial for removing the background with GIMP:

 

[hide]1. Take a screenshot of your character. Open it in GIMP.

 

2. Select Layer > Transparency > Add Alpha Channel from the menu.

 

3. Choose the "Select by color" tool . Below the tool box, you should see a "threshold" slider . Set it to 2.0.

 

4. Click on the background. It should select everything but your character.

 

5. Press delete key. It should remove the background.

 

6. Finally choose Image > Autocrop image.

If nothing happens, there are some pixels left around the edges; zoom in and do steps 4 & 5 until all the pixels are removed and then try autocrop again.

 

7. Save the image as .png.

 

And that's it. If you have problems, just ask.[/hide]
