Mercifull
The bot nuke continues.... Jagex wins landmark victory on all counts against Impulse software aka RSbots/Nexus/iBot Apology letter: Judge agreement: http://www.scribd.com/doc/78898058/Agreement-for-Judgment Lawsuit summary page: http://www.rfcexpress.com/lawsuits/copyright-lawsuits/massachusetts-district-court/54191/jagex-limited-v-impulse-software/summary/ I tell you what, if i'd ever purchased a bot or developed a script i'd be pretty worried. All their data and source code now belongs to Jagex :D VICTORY! Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. ForsakenMage
From the sounds of it, it must be one hefty fine on top of legal fees they had to fork out. Damn. o_o Not that I'm for the bot-makers, but that has got to hurt! O_O' Congratulations, Jagex, on the win. Let's hope we see more victories like this. :) Adventurer's Log || YouTube || Facebook || Tip.it Times Work || Wanna Join the Editorial Panel?Maxed Out 01 October 2012 PDT
Quyneax
Now that's nice to hear. Good job Jagex, that legal method of fighting bots has proven to be quite effective after all  (efficient is another matter, but a million pounds sounds useful enough :P). lordkafei
Thats a rather interesting and gratifying mea culpa letter. But its more than that - they are cooperating w/Jagex re: script writers for iBOT. I imagine there are a lot of teenaged sphincters tightening over that. I am looking forward to hearing from some of our self-proclaimed legal experts... the ones who insisted Jagex had no grounds in this case. Jonanananas
This is truly incredible. If they were able to win this clearly against them, it could mean that they're able to stop other bot developers through legal means as well  I would never have imagined that they would be able to win such a case. Sy_Accursed
That link of the court finding is epic! They pwned them for copyright infringment, Circumvention of Technological Measures Under theDigital Millennium Copyright Act, Trademark Infringement, Computer Fraud and Abuse and Tortious Interference with Contract. Makes you wonder what any of the other remaining bots talking their big game are gonna do?After seeing the big 2 go, one of them utterly raped by court order on like every possible angle Jagex could get them with AND forced to put loads of foolish kids in the shit with the details hand over; they must be thinking twice about their continued efforts! Especially since both the two who caved said they saw the error in what they did and how it damaged Jagex. la la la
Jagex should be very careful when taking action against people who used the botting software. I never used the client, but I'm sure plenty of people at least tried it out, had a second opinion on botting, and haven't substantially used it to improve their character. If they do end up banning accounts/IPs, they would lose a lot of loyal, paying members.
Mercifull
They won at least one million dollars, Ambler. I doubt the case cost even that. :P Only if the developers break the conditions of the court ruling. But they will have to pay for Jagex side of the legal fees plus any damages. I bet its easily wiped out any profit they ever made and probably more. Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape.
