April 22, 201214 yr Runescape continues to make moves just to make them more money, but they don't care what the players think. Do they honestly need to have a 30 second advertisement between certain logins? The only reason they are doing this is to make more money, and they know that the players are going to hate this. Comeon Jagex..

April 22, 201214 yr Not seen any. Are you f2p? Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. If we let players start doing this, it devalues RuneScape for others. We feel your status in real-life shouldn't affect your ability to be successful in RuneScape" Jagex 01/04/01 - 02/03/12
April 22, 201214 yr I also have not seen any. If you are F2P then that is how they make money off you. You get to play free, you have to deal with ads.
April 22, 201214 yr F2P here, but I haven't seen any. Luck? Blessing? You decide. I'm not going to look this 'Gift Horse' in the mouth! ~D. V. "And here, I buzz off..." Devnull and normally with a cool mind.(Warning: This user can be VERY confusing to some people... And talks in 3rd person for the timebeing due to how insane they are... Sometimes even to themself.)
April 22, 201214 yr I haven't had this problem on any of my F2P accounts so idk what else to say. --8727th person to achieve 99 Fishing on 8/19/2008----6012th person to achieve 99 Thieving on 10/12/2008--R.I.P. October 31, 2013 99 Fletching 7/16/2015
April 22, 201214 yr I have actually seen these when I was playing on a random f2p acc for a bit. Very annoying, and something they had specifically said they would not do... Check it out, huge amount of effort has gone into this massive mod![hide=old sig][/hide]
April 22, 201214 yr For Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/adblock-plus/For Chrome: http://chromeadblock.com No problem.
April 22, 201214 yr Yes, you can use ABP, but if you are F2P you agree not to block advertisements. If you are a member, then by all means use it. Working on max and completionist capes. 2435/2475
April 22, 201214 yr I've had this a few times, but it's pretty rare. Even though I don't like it, I understand the need because F2P does need to be more than a 'dead weight'. I recall a fair number of years ago they tried to do this but removed it because F2Pers didn't like it. Somehow I doubt they'll be as accommodating this time  Overall, it's so rare that I don't really care a whole lot.
April 22, 201214 yr Even odder here, I'm P2P and since last week, I think, I have advertisements while playing on the Member servers. :/ And Jagex doesn't seem helpful to me.

Jagex can't help you with a virus. You make it sound like running through a few level 87 monsters is hard which it really shouldn't be at your level.
April 22, 201214 yr No, I don't mean a virus, I meant that overhead advertisement you normally get when playing F2P. Hmm, will edit my post, am a bit sleepy. XD
April 22, 201214 yr I've noticed these while runite mining in f2p. They are annoying, however, they are not the worst moneymaking scheme out there. A few years ago Jagex had similar ads upon each login for f2p. They were met with much criticism and Jagex promised to never have ads like them again...

THE place for all free players to connect, hang out and talk about how awesome it is to be F2P. So, Kaida is the real version of every fictional science-badass? That explains a lot, actually...
April 23, 201214 yr Jagex, where customer relations are our bottom priority  In all seriousness though, this is a pretty good move from a buisness standpoint. Plenty of other sites, including youtube, have already blazed the trail for doing this sort of thing on free services, and ads that you are forced to watch are going to make a lot more money than banner ads that can easily be blocked.
April 23, 201214 yr Members seeing these is more likely to be a bug more than anything and should be reported as such. As for the style of ad, probably just a more aggressive marketing campaign. -- 2001 Starter --
April 23, 201214 yr Wow, Jagex is really going for every cash grab they can think of now. I won't be surprised if there's a gold shop by the end of the year.

April 23, 201214 yr They used to have ads between login on F2P and I was totally fine with it; I'm not sure why they removed it in the first place... you had to wait anyway.
April 23, 201214 yr Honestly wish they would remove world hop times... Apparently it was only there to prevent hogging resources, which I don't feel is a huge problem anymore. Maxed since Sunday, January 9th, 2014Completionist since Wednesday, June 4th, 2014
