plx
Last night I was pking when I get a message from somebody..the conversation was like this... Person: Hey can i have my stuff now? Me: ....uh who are you what stuff? Person: You know the stuff that i bought off you with paypal? At this point i thought to myself oh no someone stole my stats off a forum and im gonna be banned nooo so i continued the convo Me: ..What are you talking about? Person: Uh oh... Me: I did not sell anything i never would i dont even know you Me: What did the person say was selling you? Person: Full drag and whip for $400... I felt terrible the person said he\she paid $400 to a scammer and i might get in trouble for this... Me: Can you show me a pic if u have? Person: Yea add me on msn Now here is where the trouble began. If i didnt know about every scam and all the things people would do for items i MIGHT have gotten keylogged..I go on msn and the person sends me a HUGE file (2700 KB)...and i think to myself KEYLOGGER!! So i make say some inappropriate things and block them on msn and rs.... Now im thinking to myself...was this a very good attempt to try to scam somebody? Or was this person serious and lost $400 to a REAL scammer....what do u think? 0phathead0 - unbanned babyBEEP BEEP IM A JEEP Whip drops:

razzzzzza
:S sorry to hear that someone is desperate enough to pay $400 and I hope you don't get banned, something strange is going on here but he can't report you, he will get banned for item trading. cmeski
Don't even risk opening it even if you have a good virus scanner. Personally I would have just reported him when he said what he did when I was playing runescape. Everything sounds fishy to me tho, i'm pretty sure it's just a scammer. Y2g2003
Seems pretty obvious to me that not only was he lieing, but that more then likely he was trying to send you a keylogger. I wouldn't have even bothered to give him my MSN address. I would've just laughed at him, hit report, and then set him to ignore. reich1337
If he was stupid enough to buy RS items online he could've been smarter with his money :? .....33mil is 330 USD not 400 (I still think he's a scammer though)
jwrm22
what about 5 $ for a million? and what kind of file he was sending? 99% of all keylockers wont need bigger then 100 - 500 kb... and a keylocker of only 10 kb can be already terrible... ^^ click my sig for my lesser ranging guide ^^jwrm22: 4816th > 99 cooking 100% f2p !1172 total! + 140mil in items.i dont play anymore... i think rs is ruined
lemonfish
He could have been trying to get you banned by reporting you. To be honest it's best not to open a file from someone you do not know, there are some nasty viruses and also some nasty people. Most virus scanners do not protect against everything and for all you know the thing in that file could be the only one you're not protected against. what about 5 $ for a million? and what kind of file he was sending? 99% of all keylockers wont need bigger then 100 - 500 kb... and a keylocker of only 10 kb can be already terrible... Images can be bugged as well so just downloading it could cause chaos. The actual key logging part is probably only a few bytes.
McGuff1
I would always take screen captures of something in case this other player is trying some kind of scam. If he's stupid enough to pay $400 real money for some pixels, he deserves to be scammed.

wakka102
It's best not to talk to people on MSN or AIM that play runescape. I make it a rule not to give out mine ingame, and I only talk to rsers ingame. I've found that the majority of keyloggers come from "friends" on AIM and MSN. And whats sadder is most people don't know this.

onauric
Definitely just a try to get you keylogged and scammed. Nobody nowhere pays $400 without confirming the deal in the game itself, hopefully not even the dumbest kids... Probably just looked you up and tried to catch a fish. There's no way you could get in any trouble if you haven't done anything and best thing is just like mentioned before to report or ignore these. hohto
If someone told me that, I'd report for rl trading and add him to ignore list. Not my fault someone has (or pretends he has) bought some pixels with rl money and gotten scammed. hazardmaster
hohto-You yourself might get banned too because Jagex would think you were RL item trading. Anyway, you're clever, but that scam is a sneaky one. Wit ftw!
Lep
AHAHAHA! Who buys pixels on ebay? Lmao. "Send me money through the mail and I'll give you stuff on Runescape, even though I could take the money and not give anything to you, but you can trust me. We have after all, known eachother for a few minutes." I'm suprised there's people like this in the world...and how someone can get $400 and be dumb enough to do that. If it was a scam, hope you don't get banned for something you didn't do :?
Arr0w
Hmm 2.7mb.. Sounds more like that guy sent you a bmp rather than a keylogger. He probably didnt know how to make it a jpg. What extension did the file have?

What extension did the file have? thats probably it. a keylogger is a very simply program, simple, though very nasty. it would need at most 50 kb. i think this guy was speaking the truth. poor bastard.... 400 bucks is a lot of money.... sure, he tried to trade real worls items, and its his own fault and all that, but its still a bit harsh... by the way, no, there's no need for you to fear being banned. jagex RARELY wrongfully bans. 99.9% of the people you see whining about being banned completely deserved it. jagex knows that almost all pictures used on Ebay and other sites are fakes, or from completely innocent people who got there pictures stolen at a forum. the solution? turn private chat to friends  . Im gonna laugh soo hard when they ban you. will you? too bad you'll never have that laugh. i dont break the rules, i dont get banned. some people DO break the rules, and they DO get banned, and then they go to tip.it and whine. do you honestly beleive that the 5 people a day we see here that post stuff about being "unfairly" banned are all speaking the truth? don't you realise that "tweaking" (or downright lieing, depends how you look at it) there story a little and then posting it here would show them in a much better light? these people break the rules, and when there caught, come here and whine about it, saying they never broke the rules, or that they were only joking. *cough cough* stupid liars *cough cough* this is why, in my opinion, Tip.It should ban ranting about being banned "unfairly", because 99 out of 100 times the entire rant is a downright lie.
