That secret minigame is supposed to be out in february. I'm guessing it will come at the end of the month. Canifis was the winner of the votes and we are expected to interact with the citizens there I think. Its supposed to be an instanced version of thw city.

I'm wondering what kind of minigame it will be.

Think Beacon Network. Except instead of beacons there are houses and instead of fires going out, werewolves are attacking you.

What makes you think that? Remember we had a choice between canifis, isafdar, ashdale, zanaris and wilderness.

I was originally thinking a pvp minigame. Then again it could be something else. Its a minigame with instanced maps themed off of in game locations. So we can deduct it will not be like mobilizing armies. We should expect to have the same real world overview we currently have.

Also because we are at the dawn of the 6th age I think there might need to be some relevency to that.

I think it would be interesting to skirmish off against other faction NPCs in an old fashioned 'king of the hill' minigame. I can imagine having a 10-20 vs 10-20 minigame for king of the hill at these locations. There could be warcaller NPCs like in WOW (yeah I said it!...) who can send you in to battle. Imagine getting an in game message stating "a skirmish between the zarosians and zamorakians has broke out in the wilderness. A call to arms has been made - seek your emissary to join the battle! From here you would team battle waves of npcs, players and pseudo-bosses. You would also take turns defending and attackijg key places/structures and their citizens like the crystal gate, port tyras and lletya. Based on your ability to defend or how well you attacked you would earn points for rewards.

Yep I would definitely like that.

Edit: we can expect dark meyer, al kharid and falidor to accompany canifis as instanced minigame maps. They were initially used as examples of locations for said minigame.

And suddenly AGS, D Claws and SGS skyrocket.

Which makes me wonder, since Chaotic claws are made from D Claws, will; they feature the ability also?

I'm hoping they'll get a special but that it will be unique from the D claws one.

You know, it'd be nice if they improved the special on the Abyssal Whip. Frankly, I'd like to see them bring back the original special attack for the Abyssal Whip, where it used to hit for 100% damage -- or hit for nothing at all. That was consider too OP in the day, but as a lower caste weapon it'd restore some of the the utility of the whip and make Abby Demons worth doing again.

The improved Whip special was useful in that it gave you a multiple attack feature, plus poison, which I'd like to see returned to the game as well.

As middling weapons, it'd make these items useful to those people who cannot wield or obtain chaotics or drygores.

I agree with everything you've said here, minus the making it worth it to do abby demons again

Whips are like, 5k lol.

Rhetoric aside, they're worth around 111k at the moment. If they were worth 5k, they'd be worth buying and alking for cash.

Quorra just beat me to posting that screen shot of Legacy Mode. All I can say is a BIG 'lol'. So much for not voting on EoC, they really are rolling it back one poll at a time. Hilarious, I voted no though. I am glad that Inventor didn't win also.  :D

A very very slow face-heel turn. Well, yay. Chances of 'legacy mode' being even halfway decent or sensible or done in time are slim to none, but okay.

Urgh, either stick with the evolution of combat or go back to the old system, doing these half-way try-to-please-everyone updates is just saying to me that they have no idea what direction they want to go with the game. I can see it being more damaging than promising.

I'll be voting no to this.

Ok I think if jagex can balance everything (you know those chances are grim) and put a soft lock on switching between legacy mode and eoc might the game might be ok. By a soft lock I mean players can only switch between modes once maybe every month.

I'm usually really lax on things jagex does... but I can't tell you how nervous I am that they haven't mentioned a lockout mechanism for switching sides too many times.

Ohhh another poll on zarosian themed abilities coming in game.

We will be adding one or more high-level ultimate abilities with a Zarosian flavour. Where should any such abilities' effects be focused?

Damage Dealing:

An ultimate for each combat style that has a mild, temporary negative effect for increased damage.

Health Sacrifice:

Two defensive abilities not specific to any style, which sacrifice health for positive effects (e.g. damage increase, damage over time, immunities).

Group Abilities:

Three abilities that can apply positive effects to groups of allied players.

Health Regeneration:

A Constitution ability that heals you greatly at the expense of your combat abilities' damage.

Other:

Choose this option if you do not want any of the above options, and would rather that we came up with others.

ETA: April/May

That's not the real issue, whether or not if people can change frequently. The real issue is how do you accommodate really complex bosses like KK or Vorago into the old system? What happens to voking, for instance? The answer is it's going to be an exceptionally hard thing to do even with a great balancing/developing team. Eventually they aren't going to be able to keep squaring bosses like that into the old system or they'll have to dumb the bosses down so they are simple enough so they can be shoehorned in. It's a tough spot. I undersand they are trying to get back some of the older players (I can appreciate their effort), but this is way too complicated and I can't see much good coming out of this.
