lifeguard200
Construction is more of a convenience than a money maker. It saves time and makes barrows (among other things) easier to do. true, construction ISNT a moneymaker, but more like a "helped" in the game. and if you either (1) dont have the money for it (2) just think its useless, use tear of guthix like i do lol  Click here to see my blog. ReapMe
all skills are "useless" and "useful" somehow i have 1 runecrafting, it is a useless skill to me. maybe others with 91+ runecrafting may see things differently if all you do is woodcut, then having ice barrage does not help if i melee all the time, then having 99 range has no benefits for me but it may do well for some pk'ers or stakers if i do alot of barrows, having construction helps me do trips faster which = more money if i like the fastest prayer exp in the game, then having construction allows me to get the fastest prayer exp by the hour get mad at firemaking if you want to complain about a skill What? aj926
OK, here's what 1M-1.5M in construction gets you (52 con). - Tele to anywhere on ancients - An instant pray recharge with the click of a teleport tablet or regular tele - A teleport to the werewolf town - Games, games, games - A butler that pretty much owns - Fun in raising the skill - Total lvl + - Self accomplishment, morale boost... - Let me stress this again. Teleport anywhere with ancients. - Glory tele (infinate) - Meeting place - Barrow repair for resduced cost -The ability to plank logs really fast, which can make MAJOR BUCKS if you do it right Not worth it?- Pssh I love my house and would have spent 2M just for the feeling of accomplishment I got while doing it. Every level you get that "oh wow i can make something new" feeling, and you have easy access to rimmington which is easy acess to one of the best rune shops ever, not to mention SNAPE GRASS RESPAWN. - What ever happened to walking and glory amulets + various other jewellries. - Ardougne teleport... - Ectophial with a bit of running - Bored, bored, bored! - I agree, the demon butlers chat stuff is pretty cool. "What is thy bidding my master?" ftw - Fun until you realise how useless it all is. - Stupidly costly total level + - Not really, sitting in a workshop telling your butler to get you logs while you make chairs isn't hard work... - ... - Yes, after spending 70k on a glory and 75k on the room along with the 500k+ getting to that level :-s - What ever happened to falador. - Yes, after you've spent 1.5M getting to that level you can begin to save money. Yay! Only 50+ repairs til I've broken even. - Mmmmmmmm I found that quite tedious. I prefer to work instead of getting ripped off by a red demon. Easy access to Rimmington? What is in rimmington that's useful? Snape grass respawn? Falador under-wall shortcut... :-w Lemmie adress the rimmington thing first. There's an awesome rune shop that, when at night, almost always has a stocked supply of deaths and chaos. You can use it for clues, seeing as there's not really a tele anywhere near. And walking is BORING. You adress multiple times in your post that you can walk places, the reason I bring it up is because it is BORING and TEDIOUS. 1M is not a lot of money, and you can make it back. The fally under wall thing is 1.5x longer, and if you plan to do a bit of herblore you might be interested in the fact that your butler can acess the bank quicker than the bank itself can. Just give it to him and go back out. - Its boring. And it adds up. So therefore it can be really boring, especially when you power barrow and can complete 5 runs in an hour. Speed is the essence of travling. - Because we all use normal magic, right we never use ancients or Lunar. Silly me for using them. And its not like we can locatte an altar right next to... oh wait we CAN. - Boring, no altar or healing place nearby. Also I don't want to waste 2 laws and 2 waters for 1 tele when i can have one house tele using 1 law and 1 inventory space. I have 5K soft clay, don't bring up the point of it being difficult to get. - Your opinion. If you honestly think that then you need more people on your friends list. - Seeing as he can fly to a bank rather fast and do various other things that are awesome, I doubt you can honestly stress that this is the best factor of him. - Besides me doing 20 barrow trips per day with an active prayer recharge. And when you forget to refill your ecto I will be laughing at you. - So? Still a level +, and worthy of mention. - Gettign the logs and making the planks without the butler is severly rewarding. It gives you accomplishment, which I have had a severe lack of in runescape. - Way to adress it. Convincing argument. - So you want to make a games necklace, tele there, walk to the fountain, and tele out 10 times? =D> Congradulations, I would rather chew my tounge until it bleeds before I subjected myself to that when i could just make a house and have multiple other benefits. - Because falador is extrememly private. Plus, you can tele to anywhere your team wants with falador. You make an interesting point. - Only 50? Well considering that I'll probably make more than 50 repairs in my rs life, you lust made me more happy that I have a house! - OK then, 10K gold every 10 trips or so really is worth it when you consider that people sell planks for more than that in profit. I'd also like to stress that 1M is not that much. In this runescape time period, you can make 1M per day on a level 3 with all skills at one EASILY. if you can complain about the price with all of these benefits AND having an awesome house, then I truly wonder about today's runescapian. The thing I wonder about is how a level 107 can complain about construction. Its 1.5, for all of this. And a lot more...
Leesters
theres no benefit of construction, Wrong. Need I list the myriad of benefits already pointed out on this thread? Need I not, I believe. you can't make money of it Wrong. Players have made a fortune selling supplies to this skill from logs, planks, and other supplies. Also, clockwork cats can make an 85 crafter a billionaire. Not to mention the money you SAVE from barrows repair, and a gp saved is a gp made. and it has really no bonuses worth the money it takes. This skill doesn't HAVE to cost a fortune. If you want 80 levels in 3 days, yeah, you'll have to spend a couple million. If you don't mind taking more time to level the skill like OTHER skills, using limestone or clay to level is a MUCH cheaper option. And the "bonuses" that a house gives you are fantastic. :shame: A circus in Runescape?? Oh my. REMEMBER RUNESCAPE KARMA! Be a nice player, and nice things will come back to you.I'm back, add me if you deleted me. :)

Birdd
This is a game, it's about having fun, if people think building houses is fun then great, if people thinking making money is fun then great, I LOVE construction because it's useful but just because it doesn't make money doesn't mean it's pointless/useless. *sigh* "The world is all about the all mighty dollar (gp)." Anti
Pointless? PFFFT, nothing in runescape is pointless. Except ashes. Houses are a way to show off, similar to rares. You shouldn't be a lvl 126 with absolutly no construction. The old night excluded. X.X Does anyone happen to know death_siren? She stole a green mask from me, and I think I found my way into her ignore list. If you know anything, please, don't hesitate to give me a pm. FrankyBrown
The gilded altar and portals with house tablets are very helpfull then I find raising the skill fun too (which is why we play games in the first place  ) So I think it depends on how you play the game :

You shouldn't be a lvl 126 with absolutly no construction. The old night excluded. X.X ashes are used for herblore.... i have level 1 construction, and construction was one of the better updates in my oppinion. why? teleport. I spent exactly 3k on my house. I bought the inital garden+parlor. I bought another parlor and another garder. total = 3kgp. I found 2 chairs and a book case to add to my house. okay, level 1 construction and not that great of a house, but i use it daily. depending on what im doing, i can have my house teleport in rimmington for fast access to pest controll boat. fast access to yanille shops + castle wars if i dont have a ring. fast access to canifis if i dont want to walk all the way and not on ancients. even with my level 1 construction, i have a use for it. tuhdude
ok i have something to say for everyone to hear. though most people say its fun but not a money maker i know its actualy a really good money maker. here are some of the ways i made money on poh. (of course some of these you wont see much anymore because this was when poh was still pretty new. but you can probably still get money for it) 1. i had just joined as member had 69 wc so i thought to make some money i'll sell planks.i cut down 500 oak logs in no time. planked in just an hour or so and then sold them 500k. half a mill in like 2 hours and i was only at lvl 55 so that was pretty damn good. over the next month i probably made a total of around 3 or 4 mill. (darn price drops) 2. i was just surfing the forums and i saw a post "buying all cloth 1k each" ok then! i went and bought 400 cloth cost me about 250k and sold them for 400k! easy money! 3. i was just bored and i was playing around and i made 6 clockworks for fun (thats 6 steel bars that cost 600g each) went outside and said "selling clockwork" this guy runs up and gives me 10k! 15 minutes later i have 60k. so thats like 5k or something into 60k in no time. 4. though i havn't been able to do this myself i saw a guy selling berrals of chefs delite for 60k each. and people were buying! thats good money. so what i'm saying is... construction is just an awsome skill!! PKERS CAN ALL BE DAMNED TO HELL!

Soma2035
Couldn't be more wrong on it With the new spell book or even Ancients construction rocks You can make tele tablets to help you get around Use the Alter in your house unlimited glorys Use the protals in the house to help when on above 2 spell books. Is it a money maker.. NAH.. But very usefull and worth the time and money for me.. Not a money maker...? First off I've made 400k+ making and selling teleportation tablets... 1200 dragon bones used on the altar. Would've used 2400 more which is about 5m worth, so that's 5mil saved/earned, not counting the 200-300 bones my brother used on it saving him a million too. And I'm guessing you've never met a certain Durial321 who earned a green p hat from construct. :) Just kidding. Want to learn to Nex? The Nex Hunters are recruiting! Click for more information! meb
I have to reconsider my opnion about the skill; I bought 600k worth of oak planks, and I started as a lvl 20 constructer. I'm now a lvl 46 and I have teh planks for 47. It's fun to lvl, and it goes fast. I can't wait to start barrowing again with my new house. Retired 2146 overall - 136 combat - 6 skillcapes Plus I think the whole teenage girl thing will end soon (hopefully), because my girlfriend is absolutely in love with him(she is 18), and im beginning to feel threatened by his [Justin Bieber] dashing looks.
