The ever so popular insult "Noob"

Featured Replies

So, I was just wondering what you all consider a noob? As in what is your definition of one. Also, how often if ever do you use the term?

In my personal opinion, I consider a noob not by what level they are(considering they could be alts),but rather how much they know about the game.

I tend to not use the term/insult very much in game, except in jest with my friends.

Also it seems to me, that people often use the term noob way out of context. Am I the only one that finds the missuse of the term annoying?

One last thing, I know there are an assortment of ways to spell "noob", How do you often spell it? As you've probably noticed I spell it N-O-O-B, that is when I use it.

Person who opens gate during PC  I would also have to add, someone who can't take "No" for an answer and keeps begging prefusely.

Oops, sorry-I figured this was somewhat off topic, since its not nessarily just about runescape. it is a term used all over the internet. but what ever you deem nessesary I suppose. :P

and Nick I agree with you, I forgot to add that. I meant what I consider a noob is what they act like. My point was just that I don't consider a noob by their level. Which it seems people often do.

I try and avoid calling someone a noob, well seriously anyway. I often call my friends a noob but never in a deregotory tone. I think the phrase has become to overused alot of the older players just use it as a joke, only immature people really use it. It makes you think though, the people that do use it as an insult, why would you ever went to insult somebody in a game lol...

SO TRUE.

I was going to say the exact same thing..

Wha.. What..? Where am I?

I also rarely use it, but i can use it for a variety of dif things, pretty much for any of the reasons that u guys have already said. People being annoying, or ppl that show a ridiculus lack of knowledge, ppl at lvls bout 3-20 thats understandable, but when u get ones at lvl 40 asking how do i make air runes, even after completeing rune mysterys quest, come on like! Or when ppl are trying to argue that there account is a pure account, when they have like 26 def, 43 attack 36 str 13 mage and 26 ranged AND they have a main at lvl 52!

One thing however i never use it for some1 simply because they have a low combat lvl, unless they are being crazy stupid.

One last thing, I know there are an assortment of ways to spell "noob", How do you often spell it? As you've probably noticed I spell it N-O-O-B, that is when I use it.

Newb = New Blood = New players, and basically the definition you used.

Noob is an insult used by other players that spawned from the word newb.

newb i know has been around for quiet some time, not even on the internet, and then a bunch of morons messed it up and made noob, althought most you think its bad on rs, its no worse then other on-line games, most fps have it alot worse if you take offense to it

I don't ussually use the term because its such a weak and pathetic comback.

I have more fun attacking peoples weaknesses and exploiting them if they dare beg or annoy me

I ussually never use it unless I'm goofing off with my friends. O:)

I think a noob is any player who acts immaturely regardless of their level.

Noob is so common is RS, you'll hear it said ever 10 seconds.

Like forum text games much?

um... from... MARS, yes, in the third county from the... left.

PmodAuto.jpg

Hmm... it generally refers to someone acting immaturely, or someone who won't give up. I rarely use it, and if i absolutely HAVE to talk in RS, then i will, but then i go back to being silent. It's so much easier.

A noob in my oppinion are persons who acts immature, who begs alot and persons who ask really stupid questions and are of such a lvl they are concidered a moderate player (lvl 70+).

I don't really like using it and think it got a bit meaningless cause so many people are using it out of context.

If I use it in the true context I say noob.

If I use it just for joking around and such, I use nooblet, noobie or noobster.

Oh, I usualy enjoy some of those real noobs around me, they are good for conversations if you are bored and just good for playing tricks on.

Members who think that F2P players are 'Noobs'. I hate people like that.

Newb is a truncation of the word neophyte.

Noob (noun, or adjective): Pronounciation: N-oob: An immature player that excels in spam, cussing, rule breaking, and begging. Spawning points for noobs include Lumbridge, Al Kharid Gate, and Varrock Square. Weakened by the Ignore List and Report Abuse button

Expecting a good life because you're a good person is like expecting a bull not to charge because you're a vegetarian.

Noob is one who is (possibly) new to the game and thinks they know everything and is a complete [wagon].

It can also mean one who has been playing the game but requests help from everyone, won't take no for an answer, never can keep cash, gets scammed alot, and always asks for fr33 st00ff...

I never said Noob in my entire life... really! Oh wait, I just did. Anyway, for me a noob is stupid person that tricks, annoys, begs, scams and whatever else. Basically, my 7 year old brother. (not counting the scam part)

I never use the word 'noob.' To me, the only people who are noobs are people that call others that. On the other hand 'newbies' or 'newbs' are just people who are new to the game and don't have a clear idea of what they're doing.

noobs are people who whine about their shortcomings, beg for money, and thrives on annoying other people. This is not limited to people who think that they know more about runescape and life than everyone else.

noobs range from lvl 3 - 126, and the frequency of finding noobs at a certain level decreases as combat level goes up. It is much easier to find noobs in F2P, especially when you are a high lvled rich member.

Do not discriminate however, there can be lvl 110 noobs and lvl 10 moderator-like people
