Let us not forget Guy Fawkes. A man who would stood up to an oppressive government and paid the price. His spirit has influenced revolutionaries around the world. The reason of the Gunpowder Plot seems to be lost among people these days, so much so, that in my area the local Church (Catholic) hosted a bonfire :roll: PS: The film was awful. November 5, 200619 yr The thing i dont get about today is, we celebrate catching a person who tried to blow up parliament, but we dont have a day to celebrate catching Saddam... I mean, catching someone who was gonna blow up part of London, or catching somone who potentially could blow up half of the world? World > London... IMO
November 5, 200619 yr A discussion about wether or not the movie is good should probably not be in this topic, should be in the M&M forum. But, you're not going to be able to discuss November 5th anymore without a discussion about V for Vendetta, so I guess it is inevitable. Why don't you all like it? The acting was good, the movie flowed very well, the politics didn't really follow the graphic novel, but it was geared more towards today's situation. You don't have to like it, you don't have to agree with the politics of it, but neither of those things should affect wether or not you think the film is good. Hell, if I didn't like movies that disagreed with my political views, there may only be one or two movies that I really like.

The fireworks were LAME and there were very few of them, and we didnt even have a fire :( where will i roast my chestnuts now???
