lostdreamer3
Hmm....I thought Jagex was doing a good job with the macroers...then tonight...I'm wandering around doing a quest (temple of Ikov) and go into Varrock...what do I see in the northeast corner but 3 bots..then I go to West bank..and my lord...shoulda seen them all. I was on a relatively unpopulated world too! They were all going rune essence mining. I haven't seen that many macroers before in my life (i've been playing for 5+ years). Have they lost control of them again? (assuming they had control in the first place..) Son_Goku_84
the botters keeps making more and more advanced programs... but i jagex actually took the time to send in their REAL staff (not normal mods) and had a look at the amount of level 3s flying about then they would do something about it.... but in the end its this: High numbers of people in members = money for them they dont really give half a monkeys about the botters as long as they pay on the members too. AND they let botters get away with botting and dont read the appeals of people who were banned for no reason!? --------------------------------------------------------Shoving kamehamehas up noobs since 2004-------------------------------------------------------->>>>>>>| Member of Lost Legion |<<<<<<<
Hi9im8Here7
Guys think about it. Every macro in runescape is taking the place of a player too lazy to work for their items. Think about all the yew tree bots. That's alot of cheaters.

tripsis
I doubt that Jagex will ever be able to stop autoers unless they find a way to detect bots being used as soon as the bot is turned on or whatever and ban them immediately. They can ban as many people as they want right now, but as long as these autoers are able to spend at least a day or two autoing (though it's usually weeks/months), they'll keep making new accounts. Something I ran into a few days ago while checking on my spirit tree: ..and there were even more autoers banking! :wall: - 99 fletching | 99 thieving | 99 construction | 99 herblore | 99 smithing | 99 woodcutting - - 99 runecrafting - 99 prayer - 125 combat - 95 farming - - Blog - DeviantART - Book Reviews & Blog
Pc_Grey_Fox
Got bored and went to mine in the crafters guild... 3 autos in there, hitting the gold. I had a damn hard time getting some, and only did so because my level is higher. Almost every server had at least 1 there. This is my first month back after a long break, and I'm really beginning to doubt paying for this game again. The cheating is rampant...
Omar
A big reason why I really dislike Jagex way to try to stop autoers- They made a change bewtween pure ess and normal ess. Yeah, it stopped a lil on the macro on the essense. But guess what, they are on yews. What's next for Jagex, making yews member only? They'll just attack coals and iron next. Jagex cannot win unless they wipe out by tracking a group of auto at a time. If the only thing they do is make F2P life worst, hoping they make 5 bucks more per month, even though they are a company, they are failing. Ranged Crave Guess what? Someone suggested that     Going on a macro report trip! I don't care if people call me wannabe mod. I'm not anyways, I'm a wanna-stop macroing. Matt: You want that eh? Dragonlordjl
They need to make a random event that requires you to enter a RANDOMLY GENERATED series of letters and numbers, which would be impossible for a program to decode.
mosquitocoil
Yeah I'm getting pretty sick of them too. I don't train much in the ways of fishing/woodcutting lately but when I have it just annoys me now. Woodcutting used to be quite fun mainly because of the people you would meet and talk to while doing it! Nowadays it's just macro'ed characters running through and spoiling all the fun. http://rsdo.net/sigs/users/M/Mosquitocoil.png

llamster
Usually bots don't affect my game play, as i don't woodcut and I mine in remote locations like Crandor. However, i see them a lot at the Karamja fishing dock, which is really annoying. I report any bot I see, and yes, reporting does make a difference. EVERYONE START REPORTING THEM NOW!!!!!!!!! Ah, this reminds me about the noob on the Runescape forums who was upset with the quest "Cold War" because apparently his grandparents died in the war. :wall:
Faelenof
Just here to give you a bit of news: Jagex is doing something about this bot problem. Don't believe me? Here's some numbers given to me by a Jagex Mod in ICU, the team that deals with Real World Item Trading: - Sweatshop/Gold Farming Accounts banned ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ 15,804 - Accounts banned for buying Gold ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ 1310 - Gold Reclaimed from ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹ÃâBuyers̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ 3.2 Billion GP That's only in that week. In seven days, they banned over 15 000 accounts because of our macro problem - so we can't say that they're not doing anything, because they most definitely are. I also know that almost every day (at least several times a week), real Jagex mods are going out there and hitting the bot hotspots in bot-busting sessions. They're going out there and banning them right before your eyes (I myself saw one just... disappear, right in the middle of a swing at a yew tree. It was really weird. :P). They're hitting the yew trees in south Falador, they're hitting the green dragon macros, and, from what I hear, they've just hit the fishing bots at Catherby. They're doing something. You may not consider it a lot in the large scope of things, but Jagex are most definitely trying to combat this problem. deyan2
Well as long as I see lists like these: I keep on doubting about their way of banning... Nevertheless also I know they are doing things about them. I think there must come a special part where you can report long lists of them very fast. At this moment it is only possible to report long lists in the custommer support place, but when I report there (with a nonmember noob account indeed but whatever) I only receive a automessage about "you can look up the answer in the Customer Support section" right... The answer really will be there... I also think that quest idea is quite a good solution, autoÃÆÃâÃâërs will definetly have more trouble that way. y2kstang
One way of limiting the tree cutter bots would be to nake a person have to wield a certain level of axe to cut a certain level of tree. bronze-cuts only regular trees-any level can wield iron-cuts oak and lower-requires level 5 combat to wield steel-cuts willow and lower-requires level 15 combat to wield mith-cuts maple and lower-requires level 25 combat to wield addy-cuts yew and lower-requires level 35 combat to wield rune-cuts magic and lower-requires level 40 combat to wield If you had a scale like this it would help limit macroers because it would take more time to develop the character. Any of you that say, I am a woodcutting pure I say bologna your a macroer. Jagex could also do the same thing with mining and fishing. Opposed? Well, realize the majority of players hate macroers, so your vote doesn't count. Face it your the minority and your company in the game would not be missed by true players. No, in first case because skillers are not be able to do anything they want this way, in second case this does allready happen, the autoÃÆÃâÃâërs don't wield their axe but keep it in their inventory. This makes it more easy for them to repair it if the axehead flies off. Macroers inflate the hiscores by so much. *sigh* I was scammed 88k by one. 4k reg ess -> 400 reg ess. JaGex should at least take away the 1-minute limit for reporting macroing. Has allready been done, if you report long lists in every case. This mean that you can report xxxx1, xxxx2, xxxx3, xxxx4 and so on within 1 minit. But as far as I know you still can't report xxxx1, asdf5, fslk3, werw9 within 1 minit... :( You can try it, just go to a place with a lot of autoÃÆÃâÃâërs, find one with a number behind, add him, add the numbers around it also and report them all one for one ;) deyan2
y2kstang
deyan, I think you missed the point I was trying to make. Even keeping the axe in your inventory would not work since the key would be that even though the axe is in your inventory you still would not be able to use it to cut trees so it could work you would only need to code it properly. Basically you code the tree to not be able to be cut by anything lower than the required axe (just as it checks for your woodcutting level). Next you would need to code the axe to check for the appropriate combat level. Would this get rid of macroers? certainly not totally but it would seriously hinder them being able to mass produce so many.
