I am in total support of this, you have clearly put a lot of time and effort into the idea and it has shown.

 

 

 

As someone who enjoys mage i have to say when i was f2p i was frustrated by the fact that there was only a limited amount of mage robes, and only gave a cr-- mage bonus.

 

 

 

Brilliant Idea, hope something similar happens in the future on rs.

P.S - The only bad points i found about this, is that your first post needs tidying up a bit, (where you have put things to try and hide certain parts of it, it obviously hasn't hidden them, lol) , and i would also consider changing the font colour of your text on the first one, it hurt my eyes to try and read it, i had to highlight it with my mouse. But apart from that very good job.

I wish. :roll: ... Unluckily, those robes have no crush/slash/stab/range defense bonuses, which continues to leave mages at an extreme disadvantage to both melee and range. This leaves me (and many others) to think Jagex doesn't understand that balance in the combat triangle on F2P is needed. Jagex fails to realize that they won't get subscribers if they don't properly reflect the P2P combat triangle in F2P.

 

 

 

And that brings us to why this thread will still be needed. BTW, thanks for waking this thread up. 8-)

DVD, other than ahrims and splitbark no members robes have any slash or whatever defense, other than a few points. Ahrims has a bit, and splitbarks has a bit more, but splitbark is useless. Veracs armor is the closest your gonna get, and it costs a fair bit.

It's annoying Fog has new good mage robes but you need a defense lvl. So now new robes with 1 def for F2P won't come for ages. Although i do think F2P should get a new spellbook.

if jagex adds a bunch of nice new stuff to f2p's there wont be any reason for them to become members. you just dont want to have to pay.

 

also, splitbark is much less likely to get because it is obtained from a p2p minigame.

quit complaining. if you want the game to have more stuff just pay for it. it's not that much money.

As I have said so many times, but I will say it again, Jagex won't get a lot of subscribers if they don't properly reflect the P2P combat triangle in F2P. That is why F2P still needs something for mages that provides protection from melee attacks, even if not ranged. :ugeek:

 

 

 

And BTW, not everyone can pay for P2P. It is NOT a matter of not wanting to, it is that those people CAN'T, due to one life circumstance or another. As such an example, imagine being younger than 18, and unable to get a credit card or other form by which you could pay for P2P on RuneScape, because you have the kind of parents that stop you from gaining access to such. (BTW, I hate to have to say it, but if you're unable to visualize this in your mind, you're in need of serious mental help. :shame: ...)

 

 

 

Also of note, some P2P'ers like to come across and play with their F2P buddies, and would like to have something reasonable on F2P for mages. Do you really want to slap those P2P'ers in the face?!?!? :x

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

One last thing... I've just utterly destroyed every point you tried to make, because honestly, you had no point to make in the first place. How about you come and support this idea (and its' thread) instead? :

I've noticed. While it isn't quite what I was expecting, I have to say it will do. Unluckily, Prayer-users (myself included) appear out-of-luck on this one. :( ... On the bright side, at least we're finally getting the defense we need, so I guess our push towards something like this succeeded. :thumbsup:

and about how you cant afford it, thats a lazy excuse. If you can afford a computer and pay a monthly bill for internet you can afford 5 dollars a month. And if by some reason you couldnt i could think of lots of things that could earn you 5 dollars a month even if you werent old enough for a real job...

well all i can really say is that, whilst this may sound like me just bashing you for not being able to pay for p2p, or not wanting to, its not. what you have to remember is jagex is a corporation, and as a corporation its single aim is 1) make money. 2) dont go bust 3) make sure people who are paying and fufilling number 1) are happy, hence they pour alot of their development into 3) in order to fufill number 1)and hence 2).

 

whilst i will agree that f2p combat at 70+ combat leaning towards mage is underpowered, the free game was only ever meant for the first half year of your playing or so. never longer. i understand that you might not be able to pay, but all i can really do is just point out the fact that life often isnt fair.

 

the reason i think jagex made magic underpowered above combat 50-70 ish is that many players play rs because its a fantasy game, hence magic is one of the main reasons people enjoy such games. hence a large proportion of the populance of rs use magic alot more than any other skills, i mean it used to be the main money maker, it used be used as auxillary for nearly every skill producing a low demand final object with high value, it is still used as a utility to make everyday scaping easier, and still, used to make money, kill creatures and help with other skills. hence jagex is not going to make one of their best enticements for paying for the huge unlock in mage that comes with mage any less that it already is.

 

 

 

 

 

all of that said, i'm now going to quote one of the best things a dev from any game has ever said to me, "adapt or die". i adapted by waiting till i was 13 and getting a solo card in england. its your choice really, as you dont pay, jagex doesnt really have any neccesity to give you anything as your satisfaction doesnt really mean much since you've already made it clear you cant pay. again that sounds harsh, but jagex is not your friend, its a corporation that needs to make money, and in the recent financial ""fun"" it cant really afford to give things away for free.

I must agree with this thread, F2P mages are deprived of the equipment they need to be truly effective.

but a few things dont make it a quest thing if so make it more like rsc a easy quest u dont have to go back into its better with crafting robes then pure quest thing

 

 

 

and i think fire blast is quite strong hits good on someone with rune on would be better to make it better then to make 1 more row of spells since then death chaos and mind runes all would turn into training spells and quite unused :roll: we dont need more of those

i would also note ALOT p2p do f2p pking..... so its not only about giving stuff too f2p its to enchant the biggest form of pking in the game

Ok, you all are saying that if Jagex gives f2p a decent set of robes, like +25 magic total, that members are going to say "Oh, no reason to be a member, f2p gets magic robes not even as good as our basic Mystic robes..." that's down right stupid.

 

Personally, I think Jagex should just add boots to the Runecrafter robes and a magic shield, similar to the elemental shield. Maybe they could even add +1's across the offensive board to all capes (team and regular) and increase all defensive stats by one as well.

 

 

 

This wouldn't completely destroy p2p, but would help f2p.

hey, I actually favor this idea... Im P2P, and I love it, F2P did make me want to go P2P, and I think ultimately a couple updates here and there for F2P would boost Jagex's number of players becoming P2P..

 

 

 

You give um a taste, and I would guess lots of people would find a way to make it to P2P.
