A third Party client is where the RS game loads but with extra information etc... provided by the programmer on the screen, usually the main things are an option to see all the RS worlds available and switch quickly between them ( although Jagex slow you down by making you wait if you switch to quickly :shame: ). It also has other helpful extras like maps of RS and a Chat client etc ...... i use Tiko (http://www.zybez.net/tiko.php) which i think is better than SS as it provides more ( or it did the last time i used SS anyway :-k ) and the treasure trail help on it is fab 8-)

Firefox! lol, i was too lazy to D/l ss while it still was illegal... so in 2-3 months i didn't download ss since i was so lazy :shock:

i have a problem with the polls on the main website. when a new poll is released i cant vote on it until like a day before the poll is over, is there something wrong with the website?

what about the tiko thingy, could i use that? im only asking cuz im not sure

Why? For one, I use Linux and I've never found a client for anything but Winblows and secondly because I don't really trust them. With RuneHQ's online version I can view the page source and see that there is nothing stealing my password...on the others I can't.

For the past several years I have used AVG Antivirus (takes a little digging on their site to find the free version) in conjunction with Zone Alarm free version. We have 3 PCs at home and have not had a single virus, malware, or other intrusion.

I don't use 3rd party clients and never will. I might be pranoid, but I do not want to risk any virus's, keyloggers etc being installed on my PC. I have far more than my RS account to lose.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

However, I would probably use a client with additional; facilities if Jagex were ever to produce one, or endorse one. Even then I would only download it from an official Jagex web page. That way if anything does go wrong, ie. my PC picks up a virus due to the download, Jagex can then be held responsible.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Another thing to consider is that I cannot see how Jagex can detect that you are using a 3rd party client. In other words they were only declaring it illegal to prevent its customers being deceived into downloading malware, and possibly covering their own backs.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

From the poll results it seems that only around a quarter of Tip.It users, so why all the fuss? Obviously three-quarters of the community are quite happy using IE (or FireFox or any other web browser).

It's really funny, I met someone on rs that I've met before IRL, at like 4am, on a swedish world (I'm canadien). And he introduced me to SS, I liked it, used it for about 30minutes, then went to bed. When I went on RS the next day, I saw the new rule changes, and lol'ed.

I've seen pictures of SS, and I don't really see what it's useful for. Calculators and highscores I can find easily, so... I only use the client downloaded from the official website. :mrgreen:

I actually found out about SwiftShift from a friend about 2 weeks before the rule changes and riots and whatnot. For the time that i used it, I absolutely loved it. I will continue to use it once i install the updates or whatever for the "New, Improved, and More Importantly, Legal SwiftShift"
