A third Party client is where the RS game loads but with extra information etc... provided by the programmer on the screen, usually the main things are an option to see all the RS worlds available and switch quickly between them ( although Jagex slow you down by making you wait if you switch to quickly :shame: ). It also has other helpful extras like maps of RS and a Chat client etc ...... i use Tiko (http://www.zybez.net/tiko.php) which i think is better than SS as it provides more ( or it did the last time i used SS anyway :-k ) and the treasure trail help on it is fab 8-)

Stop giving links...

1.) Thats encouraging others to break rules by telling them where to get something not recognized by Jagex,

2.) The forum rules don't allow links that advertise things.

Just let them find it on their own... -.-

That being said,

1.) Im surprised Tip.it finally is willing to discuss third-party client programs...

2.) I DID use SS in the past. DID as in I used it all the time, but now I've quit runescape. :-k

Guest Cosinus

I was using SS until the Rule change, now I'm just waiting for patch 2.39 so that I won't get banned for using it.

Hopefully Strider won't have to remove all features..

I do not use any form of third-party clients. I play this game the way jagex intended to be, the official runescape client.

Runescape client IS NOT a client.

I's internet explorer dude, with toolbars blocked.

I could do that easily.

And what do you think SwiftSwitch is?

Its internet explorer whith added toolbars. . .

I could do that easily.

OF COURSE Runescape Client is a client . . . -.-

A client is a program / window / whatever that let you play the game and is meant only to do that.

I have tried RuneHQ's online world switcher, which works well but the layout is awkward, but none of the others.

Why? For one, I use Linux and I've never found a client for anything but Winblows and secondly because I don't really trust them. With RuneHQ's online version I can view the page source and see that there is nothing stealing my password...on the others I can't.

no. kelogger risks ftl, and my antivirus expired so i cant take chances.

Then you're at risk from all sorts of other malware.

Get thee to a free antivirus (and a firewall) if you can't afford to renew your subscription.

For the past several years I have used AVG Antivirus (takes a little digging on their site to find the free version) in conjunction with Zone Alarm free version. We have 3 PCs at home and have not had a single virus, malware, or other intrusion.

The software has caught a few things, but the last time anything got through our defences was in 1998 (I only know that because it was a few months before we moved house and I know when that was #-o )

I don't use 3rd party clients and never will. I might be pranoid, but I do not want to risk any virus's, keyloggers etc being installed on my PC. I have far more than my RS account to lose.

However, I would probably use a client with additional; facilities if Jagex were ever to produce one, or endorse one. Even then I would only download it from an official Jagex web page. That way if anything does go wrong, ie. my PC picks up a virus due to the download, Jagex can then be held responsible.

Another thing to consider is that I cannot see how Jagex can detect that you are using a 3rd party client. In other words they were only declaring it illegal to prevent its customers being deceived into downloading malware, and possibly covering their own backs.

From the poll results it seems that only around a quarter of Tip.It users, so why all the fuss? Obviously three-quarters of the community are quite happy using IE (or FireFox or any other web browser).

I actually found out about SwiftShift from a friend about 2 weeks before the rule changes and riots and whatnot. For the time that i used it, I absolutely loved it. I will continue to use it once i install the updates or whatever for the "New, Improved, and More Importantly, Legal SwiftShift"

I'm having some trouble getting to http://www.swiftshift.net for some reason. anyone else have this problem?
