This is proving to take a little longer than expected. I'm sorry that we couldn't meet our weekend promise but the last thing we want to do is release an update that isn't legal. We are progressing though, and closing in on finishing. As soon as we're finished we will perform a small internal BETA test and then release it. Please be patient, hopefully it will be out within a few days. Also a reminder that version 2.38 and all previous versions ARE illegal. I never trusted a downloadable client, since that's the way to download a virus... ...but SwiftSwitch seems quite trustworthy, and I might try it. Actually to be quite honest with you , a web-based client would have a much greater success at stealing your password if you had the proper security measures installed on your computer (firewall, antivirus, etc). I'm not saying that Tiko is not trustworthy as I myself have never tried it, nor do i think Zybez would destroy the image they worked hard to gain, but its that false hope and blind trust that usually gets most users in bad situations. Didn't know that... I've used it for a few months now though... seems pretty safe now. Didn't know that, either, blooblyblobl. Not quite there but close from what has been said. I used Tiko too. Both good ones. I specially miss SS skill planners and calcs. I already commented on 3rd party clients on the weekly thread, and the weekly post from the editors did it better that i would do it. This post it to congratulate Jagex of a work well done. Not only they did not prevented 3rd party clients use, they speaded the word, and they encouraged it with the uproar they raised. Lol Kudos !!! All that I really need to do in RuneScape is provided by either Firefox or Jagex's client. Since I'm on a Linux box half the time I do things online, using anything third party would be time consuming and really not worth it to me. Besides that, even if I did have the chance to use one I wouldn't. You can never trust a third party source, regardless of what anyone else says. I can access RuneScape just fine from my browsers, why would I need another program to do that? (Oh, and I use mIRC/XChat in separate windows as well. Both work fine just the way they are.) We're not. What if the owner/maker of Switchshift (To name one) decided to unveil a plan and just take EVERYONE'S ACCOUNTS. It'd be easy for him/her to do so. And honestly, You can quickly switch worlds normally, there's a thread posted on General here about that, it's quick and LEGAL, and you don't ever have to worry about someone ever ever EVER taking your pass. Because as I mentioned earlier, that person who owns Switchshift could secretly be getting ready to take all your passes! As for screenshots... All you need is PAINT and a keyboard. Wow, you take the screenshot with... Print Scrn (Print Screen) button on your keyboard, how easy! then you paste it to Paint! That's extremely EASY! And you don't risk ever getting your pass taken, ever. I don't use third party clients, never well. Don't trust them, ever. Even if the person hasn't ever taken any passes, they could at any time they feel like it. Mooge Posted January 10, 2007 Share Posted January 10, 2007 Given that there is a possible chance of having your account hacked into if you use Swiftswitch, I would much rather stick with safety first and stick with the advise given to me on the main website: "Only enter your password on runescape.com" and "Never enter your password anywhere except runescape.com", especially in light of the fact that I'm now headed towards 50m F2p experience points! Everything I need to know can be easily found on another RS page, while playing the game simultaneously, and that's plenty good enough for me, no need for third party clients, especially taking into account the associated risks :D Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I do not have a use for most if not all of the things that are out there that are supposed to help you out with the game. I know that 99% of the ones that are out there saying they will do that are only out to get your account. And I have never really felt all right with the ones that were not going to. A lot of the people that I know in the game use Swift Switch, but I never planned on using it because I could never get a straight answer about whether or not it was legal in the first place. According to all of the people that used it, it was fine. But then there were the people that were saying that they got frozen for using it and all of the people that said ANY client was bad. I would rather just be safe than sorry. honeo Posted January 10, 2007 Share Posted January 10, 2007 Sometimes I do sometimes I don't. Somethimes SS makes my computer lag a lot, so I don't use it. But when it does not lag my computer I use it. Like the other guy said on the first page. Third-Party Clients have so many features that are so useful. They have the high-score look-up, all the calculators right there, and a world switcher. These are very useful toals. Expecially when you are pking or staking and you need to look someone up real fast, but you don't want to switch tabs to access the high-scores page on RuneScape. Atm the version isn't illegal but as soon as Strider updates his version the old version becomes illegal ;) For those who are scared of being hacked, it's safe tbh. I know about 10 100+'s who use it. They wouldn't risk their account. Personally as I'm paranoid I let a friend check the codes.
