Why dont Americans Find Football (Soccer) So Interesting?

Featured Replies

Alright, football sucks, sorry.

I'm British, been to many football games. Footballers are WIMPS. Rugby, you get a broken nose, you carry on. Football, you break a toenail, you're off for a week and the other guy is red carded. Too much drama for me... :/

Yeah, ya know what I found funny while getting into soccer during the world cup. I was watching the Italy, USA game. A guy would sprawl down hurt. He'd be carried off on a stretcher. They'd spray something on him, and he sprinted right back on.

A bunch of little cheaters and wimps they are.

Reminds me of little baby, Philip Rivers, quarterback of the San Diego Chargers. That tap was strong when you [bleep]ed the ball wasn't it?

How about basketball? Guys go flying down all the time, acting like they're nearly dead. Then they get up without a single mark.

no they don't really get hurt that much. You have to very careful on defense to not push someone down.

Don't forget basketball.

And neither of those are any good IMO. Football (America)=confusing, baseball=long and boring, and basketball I can't speak on for I don't pay much attention or know too much about it.

So, my conclusion is rugby for lyfe! <3:

BTW football (soccer) is popular in more than just Europe. It is the most popular sport in Asia, South America, Europe, Africa, and Australia (well, that may be rugby now that I think about it). And football is making a mark on Antarctica too. :P The new penguin cup is said to be a blast!

Viktor, you play rugby league or union?

I don't play for any official team. I get very nervous come game time.

I play in the summer with friends, we have a makeshift team in a makeshift field. I guess you can't really call it 'rugby', but it's still the game, just unofficial.

Baseball - Fierce competition if you ask me. A lot of physical endurance involved. Fun to watch.

Basketball - Too fast.

Football(am) - Very competitive, A lot oh physical condiotining needing. Huge plays, momentouse victories. Very fun to watch.

Hockey - Can't stand it. the fights are the only exciting parts.

Football - Fun, fast, big plays. Sorry attempts though. But the competition is fierce.

You can't ever find a place that's nice and peaceful, because there isn't any. You may think there is, but once you get there, when you're not looking, somebody'll sneak up and write "(bleep) you" right under your nose. Try it sometime. I think, even, if I ever die, and they stick me in a cemetery, and I have a tombstone and all, it'll say "Holden Caulfield" on it, and then what year I was born and what year I died, and then right under that it'll say "(bleep) you."

I'm sure there's just as many wimps in basketball too, any sport that requires agility and grace is sure to be full of showboating and ladyboys :P

There was an episode of Family Guy where they flew over to England looking for an american football team and they portrayed them as posh wimps. True to the fact, stick an american football team against the english (or new zealand for that matter :|) rugby teams and someone's gonna get their head kicked in :)

No, I was wondering what type of rugby you played. League or Union :-P. I played a couple years of rugby union in a league - top scoring player on my team :)

There are no wimps in basketball.. 99% of players are "hardcore getto" people who carry guns on them when there not on the court. They preety much all grew up in poor, inner city areas where their fathers desert them and their mothers are always working. Alot of them got in fights and were probably beat up etc. I know this has nothing to do with physical pain, but they shure are emotionally tough.

However, this is part of the reason i dont like basketball. they bring their ghetto-ness on the court.

rugby union is where it's at. :)

then again when you're on a field with a bunch of mates, you don't care for rules much :P

Oh lol, deffo union. But I just know the basic rules of the game, well the rules aren't basic, but you get the point. Actually, I hadn't heard of those words until you mentioned them, that was just the method I was taught from the beginning.

Glad to see a few more rugby union fans here. :) I play it myself, represented my county Chesire and North of England in youth levels. To be perfectly honest, the fact I'm a scouser counted against me for the full England trials. A lot of the 'England youth development' depends if you're born with a silver spoon in your mouth or live in the right area still. Disappointing but not the end of the world.

Shaun Perry, England scrum half, was a brick layer and part time player at 27 and is now in the full England squad at 29. There's hope yet. :D

I much prefer Union Bubs, all I know about league is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, kick. lol

Hopefully ill be getting more tickets to matches this year, again. Saw the Munster vs Biarritz match final at the millenium statium last year, amazing!

Europe = FootBall (soccer)

U.S.A. = Football (Amercian style) and baseball

Canada = Hockey.

i personally love it.

i cant see why tons of ammericans want to watch fat people pile on top of each other after they throw a ball then to wait for like a minute and repeat.

I love football. But love rugby more. It isn't popular because it isn't an american sport.

im not american but i like watching him pronounce thing's like "iraq" and "italian" and saying that the american troops are "plenty-smart" :XD:

i really dont know why americans dont like soccer (in general), i cant stand grid iron, but guys wearing big shoulder pads and tights isn't my thing.

it might be because its not played on tv enough?

i never liked watching sport, but i acctually enjoyed the FIFA world cup.
