More than 99 in a skill?

I'd like to hear what you guys think about the idea of raising the max of a skill to something above 99. This isn't a suggestion, but the spark of a discussion. I'd like to hear your opinions regarding whether or not it would be a good thing to implement or a bad thing.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I think about this sometimes. I mean the max damage just seems to keep going up and up... you can knock somebody out with two hits! JAGeX isn't going to be able to put stronger weapons in the game anymore because it will get to the point where you would be able to knock somebody out with one hit. Now how is that fair? Come to think of it... how the hell is knocking somebody out with two hits fair?

I think it should stay at 99.

 

 

 

Theres no point in raising skills into the 120's, its just too much time wasted. And I don't think Jagex wants kids staying up till 3am trying to reach a nearly impossible goal.

Besides getting to the real thread. I think a lot of signs point to Jagex making the skills go higher than 99. i remember reading a thread on the official forums where the author made some calculations to find out if u had 200m xp in a skill your level would be 126. All of us know that level. A

Personally I think 99 is high enough.

 

 

 

There isnt alot of stuff for high lvl in most skill yet anyways so they can still be expanded.

Non-Combat skills: Cooking - 99 (13.80M+ XP), Woodcutting - 99 (31.95M+ XP), Fishing - 90, Firemaking - 99 (24.82M+), Crafting - 90, Smithing - 90, Mining - 85, Runecrafting - 60, Dungeoneering - 85

it isn't so much the 99 max lvl that bugs me as much as the 200 mil xp cap. Just look at all the people maxed at 200mil xp cooking. Being able to move past that would be a big improvement.

I think 99 is far high enough and given time scales it'd take anyone (even if you no-lifed it) several years to get all stats to 99

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Stats really don't have a bearing on max hits either.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Also a while back Andrew or one of the high mod explained that rs is coded on a 2 digit level system. To implement any higher levels would require recoding it all into a 3 digit system and there is no way to do that without wiping all the previous stats

I think adding options to skills beyond the level 85 would be a good idea. A lot of skills have no new things to do past a certain level. And there are not enough people with a lot of high skills.

Plus I think the whole teenage girl thing will end soon (hopefully), because my girlfriend is absolutely in love with him(she is 18), and im beginning to feel threatened by his [Justin Bieber] dashing looks.

You are wrong. You cannot say that RuneScape is not currently equipt with the means to have more than 99 in a skill. One word my friend... POTIONS.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

And even if RS wasn't capable, which it is, then I doubt people would lose stats. Do you have any idea how simple it is to just upload a new piece of code without affecting everything else? It's like php and mysql. Two completely different things, but they go together great. Mysql is where the data is stored, and php is the code that stores the data.

the character accounts are encoded as they r in the 2 digit binary for stats

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

If the game was then transfer into a 3 digit binary for the stat system, it would be unable to load character encoded in a 2 digit binary hence they would have to wipe all stats to change it

No need for 99+ skills. Imagine lvl 500 runecrafting? :shock:

I have to laugh at the ignorance here.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

If we're storing levels as "numbers" then the max would likely be 127 or 128 without massive rework.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I also highly doubt changing it would mean a wipe unless Jagex has their data set up very poorly.
