~Why do YOU want a skillcape?~

Featured Replies

I chose to go for Firemaking since its a nice cape with a cool emote, and Firemaking is one of my favorite skills and the one I can relate closest to in real life (pyro ftw) :D

Expecting a good life because you're a good person is like expecting a bull not to charge because you're a vegetarian.

I personally feel the skill capes like an insult.

After all that work to get a 99 all i got is an obsidian cape with a slight prayer bonus.

As additional reward a flock of noobs asking "do emote please" in the rare case they are able to speak right: many of them are not even able to spell the 3 words.

After a while i put the ones i bought to take dusk in the home rack and saved the money needed to buy others. For combat i wil use a fire cape and for normal duties the ava device or a weight saving cape

Skill capes were a wonderful opportunity to give some content to high levels who worked so hard and long for runescape and a goal to others. Japex preferred to make happy the childs who value an item for his look and not for the numbers that make it a good item.

I agree. Yes, I am happy that they at least have stats and that they have an emote, but I feel that that isn't enough.

I personally think they should give a passive bonus to whatever skill the cape is of, in addition to their current stats, kinda like a crystal saw. It would have to be a bit different for the skills where 100+ doesn't matter (like con or fm), but still.

EDIT: And a cape that requires melee stats yet a level 40 can get with the right guides shouldn't be better then a cape that requires hundreds of hours of work and (in some cases), tons of cash.

:^_^: I drew that smilie, btw, along with a few more used by this site.

Classic bloodveld for lyph3! Although I do like the new ones.

Like a ninja, here I was, gone I am now.

BUT! I may be back! Add my new account, Dr Bloodveld!

I don't. My ego's fine without one.

To be quite honest, I'm sick of seeing all your posts relating to the fact that you don't respect skills. We get it - seriously. You may not respect them, others do.

OT: I want 99 Mage, not for the cape it's ugly in my opinion; it's just a skill I like. I also want Firemaking sometime soon.

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.

Who the hell said magic was ugly  ?! They should be burned slowly over a blue fire :D, but yeah, it's apparent that the firemaking cape is the most popular one among outspoken tip.iters :P

There's cake through here, apparently.

Well Hev, I am going for the cape in your avvie :D

And I want it because attack flat-out rules, and I want to max it. The emote is super cool, both the cape and hood are flippin sweet, and I'm thinking of also getting 99 cooking for a trimmed attack cape, which looks incredible with full dragon (which I also have <3: )

So that, in a nutshell, are my reasons for wanting a skillcape.

Noted raw mackerel drop... Wtfh?

Always buying: Watermelon seeds, 2K each. Strawberry seeds, 800 each. Contact Via PM on forums.

Attack cape, because 99 attack rips through any armor or defense like a monkey on a cupcake.

i have qp cape, besides that i just like doing quest, i like the hood of it, even more than the cape.

and i would like to get thieving and slayer(this may take long time) hoods for their colour.

Liar. You never trained firemaking until you started your goal and you aren't a pyro in real life.

I don't. My ego's fine without one.

1) My post refers to the fact that players often get capes, mainly the cooking and fletching capes, for respect. I wasn't referring to not respecting them, but the fact that it annoys me that people feel a need to get these capes just to show off.

2) It's been well over 50 posts since I even mentioned that opinion, and quite frankly, it's hard to avoid it on a Runescape forum.

3) The fact that my opinion concerning said issue is basically the polar opposite of most other player is the reason why it stands out, and also the reason why it annoys you and others. I'm sorry if you don't see patterns in other peoples' posts because they have the same opinion as most other people, but this is my opinion, and it's going to pop out. You're going to notice it a thousand times more than other posts mainly because it's different from nearly everyone elses, not because it is my opinion.

4) As I've said in the past, I don't play much anymore, but, nontheless, I love to talk to people here at General P2P about the game. Because of the fact that I don't play much anymore I may seem very different from everyone here, and I'm sure my opinions annoy you because of the fact that they're different, but it'd be nice if you could just accept the fact that I don't play anymore and move on.

[if you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or

Fullmetal Alchemist, you will be missed. A great ending to a great series.

I got my first, cooking, well just to get a 99, and my second ( coming up soon) will be fletching, not even going to buy the cape, just needing to trim my cooking, lmao

Pyromancer, next time you touch my signature, dont take everything about buddy.

This is Zoidnerd, im banned on rs for 2 moar dais so smd kai? Btw a cooked bread once told me he did things to little boys. I didnt name any names so deal with it.

*cough cough* to show off *cough cough*

It has always been my dream to be one of the best woodcutters around, but I guess I can't really achieve that goal without the skill cape. It also has good stats and answers the oh-so-common question "Wc lvl?". Also, it has a great emote and I would never get tired of it. (Although the color is a little... ugly)

i dont, i own two yet i wear my legends cape

Wondering what to do with life .....

skill cape = skilled player

except fletching cape...that just means you want one for bragging rights

ok, that's enough guys.. i have both 99 range and fletching, and never wear the fletching cape, EVER lol.. but still you act like 99 fletching is nothing..

First off 99 cook is easier, its like fletching, but you don't even string

Second, i worked like 3 tireless weeks after school and in mornings, cutting and stringing, so please don't act as if its nothing, sure it isn't as hard as another skill to 99, but that fact is its still a 99.

ALSO! 99 firemaking is much easier then fletching, much much easier. Want to talk easy? How about WC or Fishing, just sit and let it auto fish and cut, every one in a while you change tree/ponds or bank.. woooo thats hard!

Now fletching, sit and stringing or cut, making thousands of clicks..

So when everyone says hard, do they mean "Harder" or "Longer"??

So I can have noobs follow me around and say, EMOTE PL0X???

n33zfm.gif

I want the fishing cape, i love the emote :D

Lamest attempt at a lure ever.
No, Ive seen "selling easter egg 5m must be level 78 77 or 76 and meet at varrock bar unarmed.

For the looks and the prayer bonus that they give (if you get two of them).

This'll take a while, as all capes do, but selling emote displays for 5k each is going to be fun XD

Thanks, I'll say that when someone wants to see the emote :) They'll leave me alone then.

LoL i'm getting mine for three reasons.

1. To beat my friends to a 99 skill.

2. To have the cape itself, (the stats and look and emote).

3. (MAIN REASON). There was a topic saying "do fletching and cooking capes deserve respect" . I said they don't at all, so someone said "You only have 70 cooking , you can't speak , etc etc".

So yeh. 97 cooking atm. Will get 99 tonight. Woo lol

Currently: Quit Ages Ago

I'd just like any cape because they look great. And seeing one on somebody commands a lot of respect.

~Member of Legends' Guild~

Because the design of it looks so much more different compared to all the capes we have so far, most of them just had a string round our necks :?

Strangely with WotLK so near, I wished I could delay it a bit to push through that last TBC content in MH/BT :'(.

i want one for a few reasons-

great stats for a cape

a nice reminder that my work was rewarded

being able to tell people that if they want to see the emote, go earn the cape =p

The economy is run by 13 year olds. Inflation hits when their girlfriends dump them. Besides, in any normal economy an influx of new items is a good shot in the arm.

So when everyone says hard, do they mean "Harder" or "Longer"??

I think most people mean longer... I don't know what level Fletching you started at, but 3 weeks doesn't sound a great deal of time to get a skill to 99. Obviously that's subjective based upon the number of hours you play a week, but it's fair to say that cooking and fletching are the "easiest" to get as they take less time.

Personally I'm wanting to trim my attack cape, but I'm yet to decide what skill to go for as I like the levels to add something more to the skill as you progress rather than simply achieving the number. E.g. 99 attack - hit more often, 99 Smith make full rune...

My preferred skill is runecrafting but that is an almighty task to get to 99! I would have liked to go for 99 hunter, but beyond lvl 80 (5 traps) and 72ish (imps) there is nothing to achieve currently..

Mordendravid.png

I want to brag with it. :anxious:

I just think they are cool. It's also nice to get credit for your work. :)

Trimmed wc cape :o~

6,521th to 99 woodcutting | Fletching 98/99 |

Idarodo | Combat 90 | Total 1565+ | 38m+ total exp

Retired.

I want my next 99 cape (magic) because it looks cool.

Overall the capes give a nice amount of respect..

Making money from showing emotes? Nice idea :P

99 ranged | 99 magic | 99 defence | 99 hitpoints

Remember, it's just a game

Feel free to add me on RS. :) Always ready for a chat.

Herblore and Prayer - 17 lvls to go in total. <3:

Herblore is one of the top 3 rarest Skill capes, and Prayer gives you wings. And 99 Prayer owns at Barrows and DK's!!! \'

You're accusing me of bigotry, how ironic. It's a nice attempt at argument, but your responses are facile and asinine, if not diatribe. Who's arrogant now?
