People hate America because we have good jobs, comfortable standards of living, and more food than we know what to do with. America FTW.
And you eat that extra food when you could give it to some poor kid in a 3rd world country.

People mostly hate America because of some of the American's ignorance, a good example is icingdeath with his "America FTW."

I hope you're kidding, the US is by far the worlds largest donator of supplies to 3rd world countries.

iirc america is the 2nd lowest aid-providing developed natioin by proportion of income.

edit:

http://www.globalissues.org/i/aid/netoda2005.png <- graph of the raw quantity of aid and graph of aid as a percentage of income. yep america is the largest donator in raw amount, but compared to many other countries, american aid is not generous atall given their ability to provide aid.

is that based on average, or median?

average or median WHAT?

oh and btw... median IS (an) average.

Someone said that we needed to raise it

My opinion has nothing to do with the fact that he refuted your claim.

other than the fact that you showed pure arrogance and ignorance thruought this thread, how about you learn to read before you open your pie hole ever again? Im quite sure he said (you even quoted him yourself) "the US has one of the highest if not the highest minimum wages in the world" is your iq that low?

Second of all, all I have seen you do se far is talk about how not so good our government is, how big the divide between powerty and the rich is...ect, how the hell is it your business about the flaws in our economy, are you trying to tell me you dont have any of those problems in where you life? wake up, its world wide! I dont know what your problem is, either its jealousy, or youre trying to fit in, whatever, but it seems like youre trying to pick out every little flaw about one country just to bring it down for no reason. Ofcourse the US has limitless flaws, but gues what? its still one of the best countries in the world to live in, and please make sure you learn to read and dont pretend I said its the best.

Why the hell would you attack me like that? I'm just curious, what's the motivation there or is it just because you wan't to stand up for the land of the free? Also, perhaps you could kindly point out to me where I was arrogant, ignorant, had a low iq, should shut my pie hole, etc, you know, just so we can all evolve and become better human beings and all.

I think you need to learn to read, especially this crucial part you seem to have missed:

Why I hate America.

Disclaimer: the things I am about to list are no way America specific and are not intended as generalisations about the entire population of the country. I do not feel an intense hate for your country as the word hate suggests.

1) Fundamental Christianity and Religion in Polotics, no matter what party.

2) Your current President and some former ones. Why do I hate Bush? He seems lacking in public relations skills and not a great figurehead for your country, which is much of what being a President is about. The President is someone who people tend to blindly admire (see point 3) and that type of figurehead dosen't cut it for me.

3) The lack of questioning of government. The images I tend to see from time to time of people who are and have been staunchly pro one political party with no apparant reason or questioning of thier leaders annoys me.

4) The fact that you are insanely rich yet you still have citizens below the poverty line. I once read somehwere the number of billionaires by country. (this is a rough recall) Second - China - 30. First - USA - 300.

I suppose why I have posted this is that I have reasons for what I think where some people will just go along with vested and directed rhetoric. I admire people who can cut against the grain, what ever that grain may be, and think for themselves.

Having the world's 'idiot' as leader and ranking number one on the obesity levels makes some people think their country is better than US. Which in fact, some are. :o :P

Sorry Biabf, but that arguement you raised is totally ridiculous. Seriously ridiculous.

The only reason I 'hate' America is the mentality some Americans have, the one I quoted above. Other than that, what makes it any worse than any other country?

This is the mentality that annoys me as a US citizen. Yes I'm a republican and I do in fact think Bush is far from the worst leader possible, but that aside lets look at this without considering that. Do you really think you can be a moron somehow magically attain a position as the leader of the worlds largest superpower? Get real! Just because someone sucks at speaking in public means that they are stupid. If I called everyone who stuttered [developmentally delayed]ed do you know how fast I'd get the [cabbage] kicked out of me? Drop your stupid ideals that make you think you're better than everyone else.

One more thing I forgot to mention. During the 2004 election President Bush's approval ratings were in the trash. The average five year old could probably have won the election, yet the democratic candidate even with his Botox couldn't win. I think that says something about the intelligence of the alternative to our current president.

You forget who George Bush is. He's not your average moron, he's a rich, daddy-used-to-be-President moron. How do you think he went to an Ivy University? Some people use this as an argument that he MUST be smart, but he was a C average student...Hell, I didn't even TRY in school and I did better than that. His daddy got him in. Then he went on to be an oil man himself, which made him a millionare...And lets face it, all you need to be President is money and a better-than-the-other-bad-canidate stance.

I don't think IQ tests mean very much as to how smart you are, they're usually just logic problems...But I'd be HAPPY to take one versus George Bush. I don't think I'm the brightest person on Earth...I mean, I know smarter people...But damn, that dude can't even get out a sentance without sounding like a moron. People can say "Oh, he's speaking in front of millions! He's just a bad speaker because he's anxious!"...No. Just no, dude...Come on. He's been doing it for over a decade now. He tries to be funny and witty and sound smart and it ALWAYS back-fires and he sounds like a dope. That's probably the only thing I like about him...He's the only President I've ever actually been able to point and laugh at.

...Well, unless you count Bill Clinton...I laughed when he got caught doin' Monica, but he was still a good President and I didn't think that was horrible.

Correction, they hate you because people like you..

With what rigths the citizens of America thinks that the other countries depends of them? I mean, what did you do after all to be American? NOTHING! You just born in America, an America with all ready, you just have luck as any othe rin the world and you just didn't born in a random country in Africa.

I like very much America because the grade of advantange like the science but it is a shame for them when i see Americans saying that many Americans are stupid. So many Americand that didn't anything for his country than celebrate a 4th july everyday are enjoying what they don't deserve, while in othe rcountries, the people must work very hard to get something that an average American can get easily.

"They depends of us", i donnot think so, maybe America got many improvements but it need to buy Petroleum from Arab countries and south american countries, and so,e fears about the Korean Missiles.

Why America have the right to put CIA agents in all the earth and they donnot accept a single spy in their country?

Why they think they ar ethe best at tech when Japan owns?

Why they thinks that their games are the best when Runescape is from england?

They were slaves in the past too, as the south americans, and both sides getted the Independency, but why they thought to be a superior race?

I donnot know or care, please donnot call me Communist/Socialist or someone that hsouts "Yankees go home", but it is truth!

Right, but did you also know that the top 7% highest income earners in the US paid 51 percent of total U.S. income taxes.

The top 3% pay 40%.

The top 0.8% pay 26%.

The top 0.05% pay 10%.

The top 50% pay 96% of the taxes... (this last one according to a semi-biased source, but I'll put it here anyway)

However, I cannot disagree that the wealthy are indeed getting wealthier every year in comparison to the poorest, and we don't notice because most things get cheaper as the years go by... so they live with the same standards while the standards of those with more money continue to rise.

Tbh, billionaires wouldn't be so bad if they actually spent their money instead of just hoarding it...I know this sounds sort of weird, but you can compare it to the RS economy and the rich there in some ways.

Also, intelligence/education has the MOST to do with how much you make. If you have even average intelligence, you are COMPLETELY capable of not remaining in poverty. Education allows you to see this and act upon it, something which is lacked in East St. Louis, one of the poorest (if not THE) cities in the US, where, for some reason unknown to me, people continue to live even though area is horrible. Now, I know there are people who lack intelligence and education, but I'm not sure they can expect to receive more when they contribute less...but I do agree that we do have an obligation to help them out...

You can live well if you try and if you hold a steady job. Hell, my older half brother has worked at Max & Erma's for 3 years and he's making $15 per hour with options to continue going up in ranks making more, although he plans on actually using his college education soon for a "real" job and leaving Max & Erma's. (My dad's only paid for his college education, nothing else) And yes, he lives on his own and he's never had to use government financial aid... he's just smart with his money and lives humbly.

You know I read an interesting article once, it said if you gathered all the billions in America, and redistributed it evenly to everyone, within 5 years the vast majority of it would be right back where it was...you know why? the rich, educated and smart know how to work hard and make money, the poor, uneducated and stupid would blow it on 22" spinners and a new hummer.......5 years later....broke again.

Welfare should only be a temporary solution while you get back on your feet, not the generation to generation thumb sucking program it was for years before it was thankfully reformed. I had a full time career and worked two part time jobs for a 4 year period once, if I can get three jobs, surely they can get one or heck two...get up, and go work.

Wow, I am shocked by some of things peope have said in this thread. Please, to all those who live outside the US, ignore all the people commenting on how "America PWNS, we have money food power11!!1!". That's just the stereotype American, and as with almost every stereotype, that's a small percentage of the actual group of people. I love our country, but I know we have our problems. Surplus food, military actions, etc., are all things that I realize are bad and need changing. So I suppose my message is just to ignore those people mentioned above, they're NOT the majority of Americans.

Ugh, do you have any idea what kind of situations people often are in? It's not like everyone on welfare is a lazy spenthrift bum, that's an ignorant stereotype. If people can get off welfare, most do in under a year, two tops. Some are just in situations where their lack of [college] education and family situation trap them, no matter how much work they do. In fact, in many cases working too much just hurts them, because they get docked on their welfare for doing extra work.

And for the record, fraud in welfare accounts for only about 8% of it. Nearly all of that is just errors made by people trying to do it honestly, but forget to change their information when they move, or something else of that sort.

Oh, and make sure not to think that because someone wasn't as fortunate as you in getting a proper education that they're any less of a person than you.

1. Yeah, in certain states there are some great education systems, yet in others they completly suck, it really depends on where in the US rather than the US as a whole.

Agreed.

2. And if they weren't in control homosexual marriage would still be legal and the whole abortion debate wouldn't be shoved down our throats at every corner, the government wants it gone, yet they would be breaking their own laws if they did it without the consent of the American people, thankfully the American people have enough sense not to let that one pass, yet the issue still isn't over with.

Homosexual marriage has never been legal in the US. For most of the history of the US homosexuality has been outlawed. In fact until recently most states had laws outlawing sodomy but many if not all of them have been overturned.

You give these people too much credit. As of right now they do not have the power you claim they have. If they did abortion wouldn't be a mere debate. It would be outlawed. Controlling a government means you have the power to get your legislation passed. If issues they hold dear are merely in the debate phase instead of written law it means they do not control the government as people are trying to claim.

I find it funny also because the government rammed abortion down the throats of the American people when it was legalized in Roe v. Wade. The majority of Americans did not want it legal yet a court said it was legal. The entire process of voting on it in a legislative assembly was sidestepped. What you claim the right to be attempting to do in abortion is exactly what the left did to legalize abortion in the first place.

3. Its not just that, the US sticks its nose in whenever a foriegn event takes place, it always has to play hero and leader, when the majority of these situations can be handled without us.

I agree with you on this. I focused on Iraq and Afghanistan because that is what everyone goes off about when they mention this topic. The US has no reason to be many of the places they are. I don't think we should have been in the majority of the smaller conflicts we have been in.

5. There is a difference between pride and arrogance, the American people believe they are superior to everyone else, and, in many cases, treat and speak of other people as if they are dirt.

Depends on the person. Every country has it's share of jerks. The US definitely isn't immune from this flaw. I think a lot of people in the US just express themselves poorly. I know people that may say stuff like what you are referring to but it's not like they hate other countries. It's more like how they talk about their favorite baseball team. Kinda like "The Redsocks are the best, we are way better than the Yankees." Yeah they may talk a bunch of crap but when it really comes down to it they don't hate New York. Those same people would fight and die alongside the people they talk baseball smack to if it came to that. Most people don't really mean anything by what they say. It basically comes down to the US is their "team" and they are proud of it so it is fun to do some smack talking with the other "teams" sometimes. Deep down most people do care for the other countries unless it is some country that wants to go to war with us... Then they are probably serious if they say anything.

Actually homosexual marriage was legal, at least in some states, for a time, they recently outlawed homosexual marriage in the state I'm in within the last year I believe, and there are many other states where the issue has been a problem as well, arn't all Americans supposed to have equal rights? I mean thats the thing we brag about so often, yet certain couples can't marry because some people find it wrong? Its not like its hurting anyone, is it?

As for abortion, it would seem that I got my facts wrong, I'm sorry.

As for your theory on team fans though, you really need to take a look at some of the stuff going on, I mean the majority of the American people actually believe every other country depends on us and that we are, or should be in control of the world, and several are also to the point of thinking we should take out everyone who does not agree with our views or our laws, I like your theory, but things are way more hostile than with opposing baseball fans.

Bush is a great actor with his fake southern accent and all.

He was born, raised, and grew up in Texas. What makes you think it would be fake?

Oh sorry, might not have been born, but he still grew up there.

I don't understand why you think it's fake, you never addressed my question. All you managed to do was point out the one flaw in what I said.

Shake off the dust... arise.
