Blink-182
So last year my uncle had cancer, he had to get pretty serious surgery and then he was re diagnosed with it in August. He just had his second surgery and the doctor was unable to get it all out. With the surgery and getting all the cancer the doctor said he could give him 2 more years, but since there is still cancer in him I don't know how much longer he has. I saw him in the hospital a few days ago and I felt terrible and so sad to see him like that. Then I went to his house to mow his lawn today, he was just on the couch watching TV and he sounded so weak and sick, I feel so bad for him but I really don't want him to die. Does anyone close to you have/had cancer or even worse died from it? blink-
Lateralus
The lovely old lady across the road from my mothers house is dying of cancer just now. She currently weighs about 5 stone, and has a month or two to live. She's handling it well though. I want to go and see her but I don't know if I could handle it. Disgustingly selfish of me, I know, and I'm going to try to get over it. On the bright(er) side, my uncle recently got over colon cancer. Edit: Sorry - I meant to say I wish all the best for you and your uncle. La lune ne garde aucune rancune.
warri0r45
Luckily none of my family members have had cancer. I do know a uni lecturer who got brain cancer, though. I'm not sure of the status of that, but it's never a good thing to get, obviously. Cancer really is a horrible disease. The thought of the body essentially killing itself is pretty awful. All the best to your uncle.

Does anyone close to you have/had cancer or even worse died from it? My uncle died of brain cancer in March 2008 at the age of 43, and he was diagnosed at least 6 or more years ago. It was the first death with a huge impact on my family, my dad gave the eulogy and it was the first time i had seen him cry, along with the rest of my family, including myself, and over 500 people that came to his funeral. He was an extraordinary man and it showed with those 500 people tightly cramped in the small church. I hope everything works out for your uncle and family and try to get through the tough times. P.S. The last thing my uncle said to me on the phone was to score a goal my next hockey game, and i did so that was pretty sweet... RIP Uncle Dwight. ThurinEthir
My great-uncle died of cancer about a month ago. Pancreatic cancer, I'm pretty sure. As far as I know, no one else in my family has been diagnosed with cancer. However, a classmate of mine was diagnosed with it a few years ago. Still alive and kicking though, I'm pretty sure he's fine now. Haven't really talked to him in a while. Also, a friend's mom died of cancer two years ago. :| Cancer, like basically all sicknesses, flat out sucks. The thing about cancer though is that it usually doesn't kill quickly. It keeps you alive for months, sometimes years, in pain and misery, until you're barely hanging by a thread...It's just as bad seeing a nearly-dead person as it is seeing a dead person. :| Hope your uncle gets better. Blingkachi50
My mom had breast cancer, she had surgery 2 weeks ago. Luckily it was the very earliest stages and not serious at all, she's going to easily make a full recovery. I'd never really given a thought to cancer, but ever since my mom was diagnosed I've given people that survived/have it much more respect. Turtlefemm
I've cleaned up this topic. I am disgusted by the insensitivity that I had to scrub out of here. The reality is.. Almost everyone will have a loved one who is touched by cancer of some kind... and it is nothing to make light of.. One of my family members had breast cancer.. and she came through it, but it was pretty scary and not everyone is so lucky. One of my nephews also had cancer when he was only 8. It was a pretty horrifying experience for everyone. He also survived. Many others don't. Please try to keep some sensitivity about this subject. ~Turtlefemm Tip.it Administrative Team No one needs to get their ass on their shoulders about this--the_tallest1"Talent hits a target no one else can hit; Genius hits a target no one else can see."-- Arthur SchopenhauerMy deviantart gallery --- Turtlequirks Zazzle
Ouchy
Wow, that really suck that your uncle has cancer. I wish him all the best and a full recovery  :) . I know what it is like for a family member to have cancer. Both my Grandmothers have had it, one Lung cancer, one Skin Cancer. The one with Skin Cancer had to pass away :( . My relaxation method involves a bottle of lotion, beautiful women, and partial nudity. Yes I get massages.
Mysticblade
Cancer is just evil. Hope your uncle recovers soon. I don't anyone in my family who's had cancer, but I don't usually meet up with my cousins and grandparents so I wouldn't know. flying_death_bombs55
[hide=Am I the only one who thought of this at the title?][/hide] My Aunt has breast cancer, but so far it seems to have been dealt with, also one of my good friends might have cancer. :( She's been coughing up blood, and the doctors say it's just stress, but I think it's more than that, I hope I'm wrong but there's still a chance its a tumor or something. pryomancer
Something like 1 in 3 people are directly affected by cancer, it just sucks. My condolences go to everyone who has lost someone due to cancer, it's a terrible thing. I'm lucky I guess, no-one I know has had cancer.
Ginger_Warrior
My mum had cancer (I can't remember which, I was tiny - I think ovarian). Thankfully it was diagnosed early and it was removed with laser surgery. It still made her weak though and she never truly recovered to full health after. dsavi
I know quite a few people that have/have had/died of cancer. Prostate cancer runs in our family. Good luck to your uncle. It sounds a bit old, but I know how you feel.
Nenga
I had cancer when I was younger. Though I didn't die from it (obviously). I still have to deal with the long term effects, and i'll have to deal with those for the rest of my life, but I lived. I had two surgeries (for the same mass). After my second surgery I had to relearn everything (and I mean everything). Though i'm alive so I don't mind. Since I had cancer at an early age, I had to face the fact I might die at an early age, and it changed how I look out on life. I was diagnosed when I was 4 after a car crash. I had it until I was 6. Not to bad for someone who had "2 months left". (That's how long the doctor said I had after my first surgery.) Ponies!
Bouwzie
One of my uncles died of it, and the other has/had it (doctors aren't sure yet, if everything is alright, he is good again). So, how old it may sound, I know what you feel and I wish you the best of luck.
warren211
My dad's cousin is in the process of dying as we speak. He's in his 60s and lives in California with colon cancer, I believe. My father says he's probably going to visit in a week or two. He used to be such a fun loving guy. Now when he's on the phone he sounds pathetically weak. It's a shame, his mother who is in her 80s and still healthy will probably live longer than him. No parent wants to outlive their child. Recently we had a gathering in Chicago where all his family was because this is probably the last few months he has alive. It was a very sad event. He has 3 kids, all young adults, two of them are married have kids of their own. I'm glad I don't know anyone closer to me with cancer. [hide=]tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :( :lol:But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities. That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. (That's how long the doctor said I had after my first surgery.) i dont know how accurate it is when doctors say that. they told me aunt she had a few months left, but she lived 7 years...then slipped into a coma and died before she was even 30. AceSpitball
My grandpa was diagnosed with cancer in 1996(?). He died two years later. I never got to meet my grandpa, I was almost 8, and while we were living in Sweden, he was in Asia. My mother was also diagnosed with breast cancer, but like blingkachi's mom, it was in the very early stages where the cancer was the size of a quarter. They removed the cancer through surgery. RichieMcD
I lost both my grandmothers to cancer and nearly my uncle to it. Ireland has a terrible record for cancer survival rates, 10% lower than the average survival rate throughout the EU which is a lot of people dieing :| I was devastated when my granny died, doctors thought they had removed all that was needed to be removed to keep my granny ok, turns out it had spread and it grew back. When they finally noticed it they announced her terminal or whatever it's called, they gave her 6 months at most. She died the next day........... Good luck to your uncle, it's a malicious disease that 1/4 or something will die to..........

Maybe they don't want to give people false hope in case they do die earlier then expected? I'm just guessing here but I could see how upset a family would be if a doctor said 5 years and their loved one died a few months later.
