Weve been Rickrolled!

Over twenty years after his hit single went to No. 1 in 16 countries, 80s pop star Rick Astley has been nominated in the category Best Act Ever as his fans take his hit single Never Gonna Give You Up literally and flock to write-in his name as a nominee.

Rick Astley in his first ever nomination in the history of the MTV Europe Music Awards will compete against Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Green Day, Tokio Hotel and U2 for Best Act Ever.

The finalists in the Video Star category were also revealed today as selected by MTV - with Madonna receiving her only EMA nomination this year for 4 Minutes. She is battling for the Award against 30 Seconds to Mars, Santogold, Snoop Dogg and Weezer.

Here are all the nominees for Best Act Ever and Video Star:

Best Act Ever: Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Green Day, Rick Astley, Tokio Hotel, U2

Video Star: 30 Seconds to Mars A Beautiful Lie; Madonna feat. Justin Timberlake 4 Minutes; Santogold L.E.S. Artistes; Snoop Dogg Sensual Seduction; Weezer Pork and Beans.

Vote now to determine who will win in Best Act Ever and watch on 6 November to see who MTV chose for Video Star.

Britney Spears

Britney Spears is the RIAA-ranked 8th Best-Selling Female Artist In American History.

Well if she's only eighth, why is she nominated?

Christina Aguilera

One of the most accomplished performers of the last decade, shes sold well over 25 million albums.

The Dark Side of the Moon alone has sold more than she has in her whole career.

I voted Green Day. I'm not voting for someone from St. Helens. Sorry.

Without Rick Astley the vote is even more of a joke. At least getting him to win it might be worth watching. I voted btw.

Woohoo, it worked! I voted several times for Rick myself and now I'm gonna vote some more.

It would be amazing to rick roll the music awards, it'll be all over the interwebs and youtube and every major place of the web.

tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :(
But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities.
That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.

Apparently a lot of people say it. I own.

I wonder if the people at MTV realize that this is a joke?.. :-k

They probably do, but can't remove him due to certain rules and regulations.

Heh, I was the one to post it on this forum, it was found inappropriate though, too bad :( viewtopic.php?f=10&t=762406

Anyway, I posted it on some other forums too, and one smart guy made a script to automate the voting, resulting in a vote almost every second, which could easily add up to 1 800 votes a minute with 30 tabs running, meaning when you let it run for an hour, it would already add up to 108 000 votes! That's with 30 tabs running though, which could lag your computer up a lot. I know some people who did it, for a few days. Those votes really did help, I believe.

Nope, still wouldn't make it worth watching. I voted a few times for him anyhow though.
