bop_dravian
It is obvious from the number of threads being called spam, locked, and the countless useless posts that are being made apparently for the sole purpose of increasing post counts that having them no longer serves a useful purpose. I would suggest that since they serve a counter-productive purpose that the feature be turned off.
darkblade986
http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=587383&highlight=count This has been suggested many times (including having a poll about it a while ago). Use the Search Button next time (incase you don't know how, I've provided a demonstration). Simply click this link to view the demonstration (don't worry, it's not a virus). http://ctgilles.net/images/pictars/search.gif don't worry, you are going to "hell" anyway. wanna race to see who gets there first?Officially reached 100 Combat at 1:33PM EST, June 14, 2007First Dragon Drop: Dragon Chain (Dust Devils) @ 10:48PM EST, July 14, 2008, lv113 combat
unorclan
and your point is....? What do we care about other peoples post count and rank...? It'd be different if you got special features or something like that as your rank went up...but you don't. We shouldn't care about other peoples post counts or ranks...plus if they keep spamming I'm sure they'll be banned. Kiriyama
Nah, keep them. Although some people with a semi high post count can be jerks to those with lower post count, even if the other person has been around longer. JoeDaStudd
I think it should stay it gives the user another reason to post. As well it allows new users to get a rough idea how long the other posters have been here. Anyway you should spend more time looking at the posts and reading them then, being concerned over how many posts you or they have. Gin_and_Tonic
Post count does show loyalty to the forum, as long as posts are constructive... I try to make sure my points count, however, you'll notice some of the OT threads are simply 'Fave shampoo' which are simple, one word answers. Cruiser
/me sighs Yet another post count thread. The huge 15+ page argument about this should have been left here in the forum instead of being removed. Bottom line: The whole 15 page argument boiled down to too many people hugging a number that means absolutely nothing. Low post count users can be very smart and make very useful posts while high post count users can be utter idiots. It has no use but the community complained and it stayed. Another thread on the matter isn't going to change it.

I agree, more people wanted them in some way removed than kept. 825 people (In someway or another) chose to remove them, 663 said keep them. the_tallest1
To both above: I'm not trying to say it was one or the other but the fact is it won't be considered for removal anytime soon after the cluster that poll became so my statement was true. Having it left visible is a good thing so at least people can see that we aren't just brushing them off and that some thoughts and opinions were discussed in the past. 571st to 99 Fm Nov. 4 '06 - 315th to 99 Crafting Mar. 3 '07 - 3410th to 99 Fishing Sept. 18 '0726378th to 99 Cooking Oct. 16 '07 -.- 99 Thieving Dec. 29 '07 - 1343rd to 99 Farming June 5 '081807th to 99 Agility Nov. 8 '08 - 3094th to 99 Smithing Feb. 14 '092012 total - 91 combat

The majority wanted post count removed in some form or another - they were just divided on total or partial removal. I have to agree with you on that point, but I accept the management decision. I'm told that when post count was removed in the past, the screaming (and whining) was insufferable. If we are lucky, perhaps next year it can be considered again. In the meantime ... I'm just gonna enjoy the forums the way they are provided. :D it's a lot easier to get over yourself when you look at intelligence the same way you look at beauty, or height, or eye color: being smart is easy, but being good is hard ... being smart is handed to you, being good is handed to *nobody*. -Devoted12-
It's true, people post threads only to put up their post count. Sometimes, this comes to an advantage. We wouldn't have such great discussions as we do now if there wasn't a kid out there thinking of a good topic to use to increase his post count. I think the mods can handle the annoying, unneeded posts. They do a great job. Keep the post count.

D. V. Devnull
I say keep the post count. These days, it helps to remind me of past events, and forces me to strive to keep my good reputation as a "slightly insane, but better than the general opinion" type of good person. Plus, I'm currently fighting with myself to get back to my standards on the issue of whether or not I have given enough good help to people in one day. :) ... ~Mr. Devnull and normally with a cool mind.(Warning: This user can be VERY confusing to some people... dsavi
I was kind of thinking about this also, people need to stop looking at someone's rank/postcount and consider their ideas and suggestions as if they were the forum admin.

WTH? "Consider someone's suggestions as if they were the forum admin."?!?!?!?!?!? Have you lost your mind? There are a group of people chosen as the forum admins, there are moderators, and there are retired staff. Are you suggesting to treat them like normal Tip.It Forum Member dirt? I'm sorry, but this just doesn't 'fly with me'. ***DV pulls out his Light Paladin Sword, and slices 'dsavi_x4' in half.*** Grrrrrrrr... ~Mr. Devnull and normally with a cool mind.(Warning: This user can be VERY confusing to some people... Right :uhh: Staff are like anyone else - just with additional forum features when they need them. Sure you can get in trouble for abusing them and whatnot - but that does not mean you have to put them on a pedsetal or something :-?
