New Forum BBCodes

We are pleased to present three brand new BBCodes for your enjoyment! Usable anywhere on the forums, these BBCodes allow you to link items, monsters and even worn item sets from Tip.It's databases. The information will appear right in your post! All images can be hovered to show the stats of the linked object. All images can be double clicked on to take you to the relevant page on the website. Clicking on the link does the same.

Items

You can link any item and have it appear inline in your post. For example I personally loved my [item=1787] to death (literally, it lost it's [item=3656] far too many times to count). But since Jagex released the [item=8919] I felt complled to move on to the more efficient of the two. And as much as I miss my [item=1787], the [item=8919] is pretty darn good.

Syntax: [item=id] The id can be found in the URL on the item in the items database. For example in http://open.tip.it/items/view/3249-beer, the id would be 3249
Example: [item=3249] will become Beer.

Monsters

You can also link any monster in the same manner. For example, which is more profitable? [monster=988] or [monster=1223]s?

Syntax: [monster=id] The id can be found in the URL on the item in the bestiary. For example in http://open.tip.it/bestiary/view/89-melzar-the-mad, the id would be 89
Example: [monster=89] will become Melzar the Mad.

Sets

Complete item sets my also be shown. For example:

[set=aura:11898,head:82,cape:2237,neck:4309,weapon:7107,body:3337,legs:4615,gloves:4675,boots:7070,ring:842]

Or, because I can (this is intentional):

[set=aura:19,head:19,cape:19,neck:19,quiver:19,weapon:19,body:19,shield:19,legs:19,gloves:19,boots:19,ring:19]

Syntax: [set=aura:id,head:id,cape:id,neck:id,quiver:id,weapon:id,body:id,shield:id,legs:id,gloves:id,boots:id,ring:id] You can omit any slot you want and it will appear blank.
Example: [set=aura:19,head:19,cape:19,neck:19,quiver:19,weapon:19,body:19,shield:19,legs:19,gloves:19,boots:19,ring:19] will become a set with pitta bread in every slot.

Sounds great, will be incredibly useful for those creating guides and the such.

P.s Putting this in G.D actually worked well as an announcement for it as it would really get the word around quickly.

Big thanks to Stevepole for the signature!^

A quick small suggestion, although not sure where to put this as it is related though. Would it be possible to have the same system for the equipment slots available for the regular inventory page? So you could both show for example the equipment taken to a boss, as well as the inventory?

If you want to provide people with in inventory for, say, a boss guide. Just make a list of items with the [item] tag.

This is pretty cool actually. I remember archaically hotlinking pictures to items when I first signed up lol.

Is this feature going to be added as a button?

Will the Amulet of Fury (OR) be added to the items database so I can quicklink it??

Amazing. I may not use this so often, but it's a very handy feature if I need to use it. Well done on the hard work. :thumbup:

Cheers to you. [item=3249]

Would it be possible to get that added to the main sites guides 2?

edit: for inventory etz, i used to have problem spotting what pots where in inventory etz in monster hunting guides when i still lacked knowledge of items, sadly one now has all the info needed not to really need this function, but nice none the less :)

edi2: oh yeaaa, how about inventory? any plans on adding that? :)

Great work, ty :)

Well done on adding this idea to the forums, Dudecrush8 and MageUK! :thumbsup:

Only one thing to do now... Fix the syntax error on the example under "Monsters", because with how the following is...

Syntax: [monster=id] The id can be found in the URL on the item in the bestiary. For example in http://open.tip.it/bestiary/view/89-melzar-the-mad, the id would be 89
Example: [item=89] will become Melzar the Mad.

...the result of...

[item=89]

...would come out to...

"[item=89] "

...and not your desired result, which happens to be...

"[monster=89] "

...instead. I don't think we want anyone mis-reading that? :huh:

~D. V. "Spotting the confusing item..." Devnull

tifuserbar-dsavi_x4.jpg and normally with a cool mind.

(Warning: This user can be VERY confusing to some people... And talks in 3rd person for the timebeing due to how insane they are... Sometimes even to themself.)

[item=1]

That's the first item? Hmm. Either way, damn cool.

This can actually be used for some pretty useful stuff, example:

[set=aura:293,head:4993,cape:4398,neck:9035,quiver:2404,weapon:19,body:8543,shield:11172,legs:2550,gloves:7285,boots:8905,ring:6616]

Some suggestions, could you have the equipment screen overlays show which spot they're in, because I actually got confused with the background and placement of items with which slot is which.

Also, do all monsters have the same image?

And could the overlays be changed from translucent to opaque, depending on what they're hovering over they can be hard to read, especially with the small font size.

Sweeeeeeet! Very useful, thanks for this update. :thumbup:

Working on max and completionist capes.

I always thought tip.it had some of the easiest to use player made guides out there. This will definitely help the luster come back to the AoW as well as every-day posting. Veryyyyy slick. :)
