Garunteed poll phoenix? Did JaGex forget?
The poll was to decide which Summoning familiar would be introduced next. They said nothing about putting it into the game shortly after the poll. It just means that when they do decide to add another familiar, we'll know what it is.

Monday Poll: Limiting Thy Time
I'm starting university soon, so that's going to be cutting in on my gaming time significantly. Although my friends would have to be another reason why I don't play as much as I do. I'd take spending time with the non-pixely people over the players on my friends' list any day, wouldn't you?

Do You Take HD For Granted?
When I first played RuneScape in HD I was speechless. I'd go around visiting all the areas I could think of and awe. After a while I got used to the new HD, but last week I clicked on Low Detail (wasn't paying attention which detail mode I picked) and when I logged in I was flabbergasted. I was shocked, and kept asking myself if this really was how RuneScape sued to look when I played it for all these years. Honestly, we might have not minded the game's petty graphics, but once you get used to HD and go back to Low Detail it all seems so... bland. Now I'm careful not to take HD for granted, it really is marvelous. Yes, I know you shouldn't judge a game by its graphics, but you have to admit it is rather nice to have something pretty to look at as you click around for an hour or so.

Runescape vs. WoW (RWT)
So far, RuneScape is the only MMORPG I've played that doesn't focus mainly on PvP. World of Warcraft may have boss monsters and other activities, but the fact remains that it relies on PvP to be as successful as it is. Lawsuits are expensive, Blizzard can't go around suing every RWT merchant out there. But they decided having some RWT and bots stay in their game is a sacrifice they might have to make. This way, they won't loose many customers and keep the game as it is.

Pker attitude-Spreading like a disease?
Yes, PKers will be coming back and with them will be the dreaded PKer attitude... I suppose PKing was fun, and having it brought back (more or less) won't be without a compromise. I kind of missed being called a Def Noob/Prayer Noob by every single 9 year old who's throwing a tantrum because I'm not playing by their rules and letting them kill me easily. I had a rant about that in the Rants forum on Tif, a lot of people liked it but I doubt it's still there. Basically, I either ignore them or just keeping going "lol" every time I deal them damage in the double digits (which is quite often, hehe). It really pisses them off, and when someone is being as annoying as a PKer I have no problem pushing their buttons.

Runescape Tools v1.4 [UPDATED! Timer, Counter]
You're not support to advertise *anything* in this forum, whether it's RS-related or not. There's a sticky in the Off-Topic forum for that kind of thing. (looks nice though)

Possible locations for the 1% safe area?
I'm guessing: Lumbridge area - bank buildings - Grand Echange. We might get a few more safespots, like maybe guilds and mini-game areas. You never know, Jagex might even make quest-specific areas non-PvP so that annoying PKers won't kill questers.
-
And then what?
It's human nature to always want more if they think they can get it, this is known as greed. Jagex still hasn't realized that they can't please everyone, and the fact that they think they can fix everything after making game changes that upset everyone will only make it more difficult for them. They can give F2P anything they want, it's their game and people don't get a say in it. As long as members keep getting the (better and more numerous) updates they're paying for I don't see a reason why anyone should be angry. This reminded me of when the Tip.It times went from weekly to monthly. Sure, Jagex might be able to give players updates forever, they just might have to space them out a bit. At some point Jagex might get stumped and give lower quality updates.

where's the joy in playing RuneScape now?
Some people like skilling... Grinding is present in many MMORPGs, and gamers have gotten used to it. RuneScape is the only MMORPG that I've played that doesn't focus mainly on PvP, and that's probably why I still play it. The soon-to-be-released PvP worlds will certainly be dynamic, as people will once again have the feel of being sneaked up on like the old days of the Wilderness. Jagex is aware players need a break from skilling sometimes, that's why they're always introducing mini-games. Even skilling mini-games like the new RC game are fun (yes I find it fun).

looking for orb project team-mate (expirienced only)
He/she isn't really planning an event where people can come, more of asking for a partner to help him/her. I wouldn't mind being your team-mate. I'm very good at the game, it's very simple. The only annoying part is learning how to get the orbs out of the corners (specifically in the Mind/Earth altars) but I got the hang of it. ;)

F2p World For The Great Orb Project
I don't know about worlds 1->4 but w16 is *always* packed, sometimes you have to time your attempt to join a team perfectly or you'll be stuck trying to join a team (and failing) for 10 minutes.

Signature Limits Increased to 100Kb!
Holy cabbage! 100kb sig limit on Tif?!!  I never thought I'd live to see the day, this is great! \ I'm sorry but it's their sigs, their forums, and their choice to do whatever they want with them. If you don't like it don't use the sigs. Calling the Tip.It staff lazy isn't very nice, especially when they've put a lot of hard work into making these sigs.

Runescape Oddities and BIG SUPRISE
I don't watch Disney shows, but I doubt it was the RS theme song... Wouldn't there be copyright issues there? And if you think this is Jagex's way of "advertising" why would they do it during a scene where there is slow-motion bowling? (even if it was advertizing how will people find out about RS if they don't know the song?) Uhmm, let's see... some melee weapons provide have a negative effect on Magic and Range bonuses. Why so? How can someone range if they're wielding a melee weapon?

The futures bright, The futures F2P?
Most of these updates are either to compensate for the December updates (PvP mini-games), to help players be safer so parents will allow their children to play (the two Strongholds) or just an advertisement of members (gnomecopters, HD with no Fullscreen). Jagex isn't doing this because they love F2P, but because they don't want to loose any potential members, but keep people playing long enough for Jagex to lure them to P2P. I wasn't expecting the RC guild to be available in freeplay, but I've stated that it would have many pros if it was. I think this is maybe Jagex just trying to get people to train the skill, so maybe the runes that F2Pers make would get used by members who would rather buy than make them.

12 Aug 2008 - Runecrafting Guild and Game - For All Players!
Well, the requirements aren't great but they aren't terrible either. Getting 50 rc the "old fashioned way" will take a bit of effort, so I guess it's better than a petty requirement like 35 rc. :?

Monday Poll: Detail in RuneScape
25th vote? Leet! I always play RuneScape in High Detail, but I prefer to play it with the resizeable game window instead of Fullscreen. In my opinion it's better than Fullscreen, because it's close to it except you can still do other stuff like browse Tip.It forums, use MSN, etc... And if it's still not close enough to Fullscreen for some people, press F11 and enjoy! :

60-70 Smithing F2P?
If your current status is F2P I wouldn't recommend using Nature runes. If you can't make them yourself then you're loosing money. You'll find clicking to get to the furnace and smelt there is close to how long it takes to click to superheat. Let's see... Of course mith bars are good xp, but I'm not sure how much they go for nowadays and if people buy them often. Addy bars are out of the question since you don't have 70 Smithing. Now, steel bars would be what I'd recommend. Iron is cheaper than mithril and you only need half the coal per bar. This means you'll be able to smelt more steel bars per run than you would with mithril. Mind you, it will take a while. But in F2P it's pretty much the best you can do. Plus steel bars are always in demand, and you'll be able to make your money back and even a profit on the side!

Iron Ore
Iron ore is always selling in the Grand Exchange (don't put it up for max price, nobody buys raw materials for max price). But if you want to smith the iron and sell that, iron bars are good too. If you want to make iron items, I'm afraid there's nothing that *sells*. Your best bet would be to make iron platebodies and jut put them in the G.E. They will sell very slowly but I think any other iron item would only be slower. (except maybe iron knives, but you need to have membership for that) If you're a member, never smelt iron without a Ring of Forging. If your account is freeplay I advise you to mine some coal and make steel instead as it is better xp, better money and you don't loose the ores 50% of the time while smelting. (unless you don't have 30 Smithing for smelting steel, in which case good luck with iron, just remember you loose 50% of the ores when smelting)

Do you believe in such thing...
Like Omali said, a computer cannot be programmed to carry out commands randomly. Doing repetitive tasks over and over (in other words, behaving like a macro) especially if you don't chat can trigger a random event. I vividly remember working on my Smithing level, and during one session I got the Drunken Dwarf random every time I entered the furnace building. (did like 25+ runs) Standing still doing nothing can also trigger certain (usually aggressive) randoms, and I foundthat out the hard way when clicking back to see a random punching the last HP out of me... Now whenever I'm posting on Tip.It (yes, that's the primary reason this has happened) I log out immediately.

runecrafting guild?
I hope it won't be any pathetic requirement. If it were up to me you'd need 65 or even 70 RC to get in. If you look carefully at the highscores you'll notice that many, and I mean many players only train their RC up to 30 so it would show up on the highscores. You want access to the RC guild, you'll have to work for it for countless mind numbing hours like the rest of us did.

Bounty Hunter - What's Missing?
I don't think we need five or six craters, four should be enough. Just so that a player reaching lvl 56 wouldn't be pushed into the midst of lvl 90+ players... But what I truly believe should be added to BH is a ring system similar to the old Wilderness, whereas you can only attack people depending on the combat lvl differences and how deep you are into the crater. The maximum capacity of players allowed in BH at once is ridiculous! Yes, I know it's meant to make it harder to RWT but it's friggin' annoying when you have to stand outside the crater clicking over and over for 10 minutes so you can manage to get in.

8 Aug. 08 - Wallie Subscriptions and 22 New Runescape Worlds
New worlds? All they did was re-add servers that they've been taking out over the years... Some of them were even F2P servers, and now they're member servers set in the new locations. Even W49 is back, didn't think I'd ever see that one again... Been gone for over 2 years that one. As for the Wally cards, kind of reminded me of game cards used in other P2P MMORPGs. :P Hey it makes paying for members easier, so why shouldn't people be happy?

F2P getting a lot?
PvP mini-games were supposed to replace the Wilderness PvP, so that doesn't really count. Rewards from FoG and such are part of the mini-games, so they don't count either. The two Strongholds are solely supposed to help players keep their account and personal info secure, more of Jagex not wanting to have a potential member getting displeased and quitting. The Lumbridge Diary was a pitiful challenge, and was nothing more than an advertisement of Achievement Diaries, they did this with Quests so why not with a nooby diary? I admit the resizable game window was a big surprise, but it seems to be Jagex's way of advertising Fullscreen. Jagex even spoke of a probable F2P fullscreen, maybe this was it? The ads are still there. So all these updates are either a compensation or a way to attract new members, the only rupdate that F2P has received that wasn't either of the mentioned reasons would probably be the extra bank space (if they didn't give them tabbed banking new members would be very confused when they saw the new bank, Jagex wouldn't want that) that they got a while ago. Mneh, it's their game and they can do as they see fit. Although F2P doesn't *deserve* any updates Jagex is free to do as they please with it. As long as they keep giving members the updates they're paying for I don't see why anyone should be unhappy.
