  1. What do you mean? Don't listen to him, there's always something you can do to fix your computer. He just has a habit of when he has no idea what's wrong, he blames Windows. Very funny, blade995. ... You should go check out the talkback threads for a ton of the articles on ZDNet. Once MicroSoft gets you with a bad update package, you start having problems, and they don't go away without a format and total reinstall. There are literally horror stories posted of people who have Windows PCs that, among other things, have changed their internal settings on their own and not listened to the user, auto-updated at Windows Update, and re-booted while someone was playing "World Of Warcraft" or was working on some really important project, and these PCs gave NO NOTICE of what they were about to do. This resulted in crashed PCs and hundreds of hours of work lost. And then you think I have no good reason to be blaming MicroSoft? Think again, and then think again some more. I've just shown yet another good reason to blame them! ~Mr. Devnull
  2. I hope the rumors are not true, and that your appeal goes through to a human. 8-) BTW, that really happened to be me talking to you on RS just a few moments back. Where did you go? :-s ~Mr. Devnull
  3. What in the? What is going on here? Ixfd64, I remember seeing your account online just a couple days ago! I wonder if someone you let use your PC saw you type your RS pass in, and then used it in some illegal manner! Could you have been hit with a keylogger or something? Any ideas? BTW, I'm very much in shock, having heard about this! I hope you can get your account back! :ohnoes: <*Waits on RS, hoping to see you back online soon!*> ~Mr. Devnull
  4. Taoyection, if you don't want to be on pins and needles to stay alive and make it out safely, make it so you can wear and use the following, which can all be used prior to beating Dragon Slayer... Rune Full Helm (40 Defense Required) Rune ChainBody (Not PlateBody!!!) (40 Defense Required) Rune PlateLegs (40 Defense Required) Rune Scimitar (40 Attack Required) Anti-Dragon Shield (Gained before or during quest, required to beat Elvarg) Green DragonHide Vambraces (40 Range Required) Fighting Boots ("Stronghold Of Security" Completed) Amulet of Power (Can be gained via many methods, usually can be bought for 10K gp) (No additional requirements) Cape (Just kill any "Highwayman [Level 5]" for it.) Also, have ready in your inventory at least 1 Falador Teleport (yes, you will need a higher mage level for this, but it will help to save 10K gp, as noted below) to hop to safety, 24 Swordfish (you may need to have enough to have spare after the battle with Elvarg), and a Strength Potion. BTW, you say you have 25 mage at current? I'd get it up high enough to be able to use telegrab (as well as Falador Teleport) to get that map piece after killing Wormbrain with mage, and not have to waste 10K gp, which could be used on other much better things. And one final note........ If you wish to cut Elvarg down quickly, you really need 40 Strength. Good luck to you, Taoyection. 8-) ... Send Elvarg my regards, would you? :-s (Yes, I've killed Elvarg already, but I still feel like I didn't leave the message properly.) ~Mr. D. V. Devnull
  5. Here's two suggestions: Fuzz Str Nut Odd Str 99 You probably won't use them, thegarrett73, but I thought they might be nice to know of. BTW, I have NOT grabbed them. ~Mr. Devnull
  6. Hey, clean up your search urls, would you? It doesn't need to be an Opera Browser advertisement! Here's a cleaner search engine link: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=runescape+mouse+pointer&btnG=Google+Search Enjoy. 8-) ~Mr. Devnull
  7. adam_ross0, ZoneAlarm FireWall will work extremely well on your current system. All you need to do is to find either a good Free Edition download, or a good 3.x, 4.x, or later Pro Version that you can buy. Just one warning I realize I should note... Leave MailSafe turned off. It will conflict with your antivirus, big time. Other than that, you'll be fine, seeing as ZoneAlarm is really easy to manage. :) ~Mr. Devnull
  8. Probably.. Hmm... it was fine when i first bought it ~ 6 months ago this has been happendining for arounf 3 months so probably. Dont you think Nicrune007 sounds nicer? :D I hate to say it, but there is probably nothing we can do about your PC then. Looks like you've been [bleep]-ed by the people that made the OS you use. Didn't mean to upset you over the name I referred to you by. I just normally talk to people by their forum names here, and not their RSNs. (I'll admit, though, I did get kinda lucky in finding that the forum nick that matched my RSN just happened to be open. :D ...) ~Mr. Devnull
  9. So... prayer boost on blade, but not on bow, crossbow, or staff? :? Grr... Looks like I need to come up with some numbers. ~Mr. Devnull
  10. Smart kids do, but it looks like we'd have too many non-smart ones still crying. :( Well, hey, maybe it'd teach them a lesson? ~Mr. Devnull
  11. <*Walks in, sees adam_ross0's ownage reply in regard to blade995's unrealizing negativity, smiles gently, and walks back out*> 8-) ~Mr. Devnull
  12. You mean the current mage equipments or in the full mage robes? ...And now to reply............. PrOfEsIoNaL, I4prez is talking about the current mage equipments. Sadly, what I4prez is thinking of is not a good idea at all. It would help the already severely overpowered lower-level mages and mage pures. I hope Komodoman360's idea goes through some time soon so that the higher level Mages in F2P get their proper respect and positional balance in the F2P Combat Triangle. Otherwise, P2P'ers and Jagex alike are not going to have the influx of players that they want, because people will be mentally repelled by the thought that something may be broken in P2P also. (Which sadly, may be possible, but I'm not gonna judge on that one.) ~Mr. Devnull Since there are 2 colour of wizard robes, blue and black. Why not just make them into 2 sets and choose 1 to be a higher level? This should be simple enough for jagex to do. It used to be that black ones were weaker than the blue ones. The black ones were raised to the level of the blue ones at some point, and probably due to style complaints. If anything, though, neither of the current robes should have their stats increased, and a new set should be created with a proper defense level requirement, just to prevent the style argument occuring again, as well as to avoid the whole "low combat level mage pures have been made into gods" thing. ~Mr. Devnull
  13. LOL ... I'd go mad without a menu bar and the buttons I've stuck on it, so I tossed my bookmarks toolbar. :P [hide=Look inside for my current Phoenity layout...][/hide] I hit a problem or two, so that's why it isn't decked out further. Don't worry, I'll get it fixed some day. ~Mr. Devnull
  14. Greenboy1134, looks to me like some virus has [bleep]-ed your TCP/IP stack to hell. Use a computer that can get on the net (unlike yours), and download NOD32 from http://www.eset.com, and unleash it on your computer, which is unable to go on the net at the moment. Hope and pray that it can clean the virus out without any updates. It should be able to, from what I've heard, even if the virus is new ... but in the event that the virus is completely new even with the installed definitions, you may be looking at a format and rebuild of your computer, depending on the virus's severity level. :? I'll admit, I've had the luck of stopping viruses before they can actually infect the PCs that I use. However, NOD32 is capable of killing viruses that are present even before you install NOD32, as I found out the hard way, and liked, so I'm hoping it can do the same for you, if this problem is due to a virus. : Good luck, Greenboy1134, and let us know in this thread how it turns out. BTW, if NOD32 does manage to get you back up and running, and you decide to stick with it, I should warn you that it is not totally free. The update features, unless you buy and renew a valid license to keep the update features unlocked, will disable after 30 days, and until you get a valid license. Thankfully, though, it does not cost that much to keep the update features enabled. (In fact, it is actually less costly than Norton or much any other.) Don't worry, though. If the update features disable for any reason, it won't take the rest of the product with it. AntiVirus Protection systems WILL remain running, both locally and for internet use. ~Mr. Devnull
  15. VjuliusT, I suggest you get a theme more like "Phoenity" for your FireFox. It may not be a dark theme, but it beats the pants off many others for both speed and web page view space. And yes, I use Phoenity. No other theme settles well with me, but that's probably just because I am me. Here's a link to it: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1406 Enjoy! 8-) ~Mr. Devnull
  16. [begin swear]Damn.[End swear] They changed it in FF2 and later then! (I'll bet the term change was due to MicroSoft getting their grimy mitts into the FireFox stuff! :x ...)[/b[ ~Mr. Devnull What is with you and bashing Microsoft every chance you get? There was no reason to even bring that up. You pretty much don't have a valid argument against them, in any thread. I guess your just hoping on the bandwagon of thinking that hating Microsoft is "cool." Actually, I do have a valid argument here, blade995. And no, there is no "Hate MicroSoft bandwagon", or even if there is, I've never heard of it, and personally would hate to hop into it, seeing as a lot of my favorite games need MicroSoft Windows. -.- Now, getting back to the point, there is a reason I can bash Microsoft on this one, which you apparently don't know. So, I'm going to tell you. In the tech news (PC World, PC Mag, and a few others) in the last few months as well as on Mozilla's own sites, it was made clear that Microsoft was taking an active hand in making sure that Mozilla's FireFox could even run on XP SP2 and Vista, instead of colliding with XP SP2's security measures or Vista's UAC in some awful and unexpected way. Sadly, it would seem that they've been up to a bit more, seeing as a few of the IE terminology things managed to creep across too. Just look at IE's "Favorites" menu and the "Organize Favorites" option there. Looks similar, huh??? This also makes me wonder, sadly, that MicroSoft may slowly be creeping their hands into a position to crush FireFox totally, which would utterly upset me to no end. But hey, MicroSoft wants to get rid of all competition and be the only OS and browser maker out there, as everyone already knows. And what, you possibly want them to win, blade995? You want to find some day that for not having sense of mind to not let MicroSoft rope you in, that all you have to use is them? Pardon me, but I'm going to take a break from a MicroSoft 'shill' like you. <*Walks off*> ~Mr. Devnull
  17. The reason why there are so many security flaws because people are looking for them. If Microsoft didn't have 90% market share then they would not be exploited. Hackers want to target the most users, which is Windows. If Linux or Mac OS X was #1 then they probably would have the same amount of problems. No, the reason there are so many security flaws in windows is because the programmers at MicroSoft aren't fully checking their code and writing it properly before it goes out the door to the consumer. The hackers (both white-hat and black-hat) and other security companies are just simply running into the security flaws after the fact, but the fault is with the original code programmers at MicroSoft. You're right, though, in saying that these flaws wouldn't be so heavily targeted if Windows wasn't #1 in market share. However, don't go placing the blame for the beginning mistakes that are in Windows in the wrong place. The blame for the beginning mistakes is MicroSoft's alone. ~Mr. D. V. Devnull Your thinking is seriously flawed. Do you really think that one of the largest companies in the world would sit back and have lazy and/or bad programmers working for them? Nobody is perfect and people make mistakes. If they could go over every line of code in windows to double check it, then it would take double the amount of time between releases and then they still will not catch too many more. I bet you would say the same thing if another company making operating systems was on top. Apple usually releases more security fixes per month than Microsoft. Actually, yes, I do think that a large company would have lazy and/or bad programmers working for them just to meet their stupid deadline, instead of hiring programmers who would prevent release until all the bugs are worked completely out. And why? Just because those large companies simply are greedy, money-grubbing, evil jerks! Further, it is a known fact that those programmers who work at MicroSoft/Apple/any-other-major-company are not the best, but they get hired simply because they'll do the job on time and not worry about the aftermath of code slip-ups. You're right, nobody is perfect. However, if the programmers would think, as well as the companies that hire them, and go over the code a few thousand times, it is possible to perfect the code they write, and smart programmers do just that. (Heck, smart programmers make sure not to make mistakes, and can correct their stuff in far less passes.) Yes, it would delay the release cycle and make it longer, but it would help quite a lot to prevent black-hat hackers ever having the chance to cause the kinds of problems we see today. No, blade995, it wouldn't matter who is on top in market share. If the OS has bugs, I'm upset at the company that wrote it. And BTW, I've seen crashed Macs. It ain't pretty. Sometimes all you can do is to pull the darn plug and wait an hour. However, that puts Apple at a worse disadvantage. I hate to say it, but since you've started an insult-fest, I've basically blasted you here. Seems you're the one with the flawed thinking, or you wouldn't have been sucked in by the "get-it-out-on-schedule-and-clean-up-after" mentality that businesses like Apple and MicroSoft have about a computer OS. You may have noticed, I haven't been sucked in, and am quite well not going to be. My thinking that things should be done right, and not rushed, is NOT flawed thinking. ~Mr. Devnull
  18. Getting a little off-topic here.............. Well, at least since you're using Win98SE, you don't need so much RAM for the main OS or much anything else, but the hard disk size is going to get you (You could use something a little larger, like 20 GB)... That and the video card (32 MB FTW?) and possibly a potential need for a slightly quicker CPU (Like 500 MHz) ........... But other than that, you're definitely fine. :) On the other hand (and to get back on-topic), I still have yet to hear what RazorAce's OS and ISP are... :-k ...once I know, I'll be able to go to the right spot in my brain. <*Walks out, dizzy and overloaded... He'll be back later, looking for RazorAce's reply.*> ~Mr. Devnull
  19. Windows media player may just be rendering the video wrong because of a bad codec. You can download a codec pack that may fix it. Download from here Uh, K-Lite Codec Pack is not the best one to use. I've actually seen a comparison between it and CCCP (Combined Community Codec Pack). K-Lite came out ugly. So I would suggest to SaradominsServant that they go to http://www.cccp-project.net/, and get the CCCP. I'm using CCCP, and it helps a lot. Haven't had a video go wrong on me yet. :) (BTW, there are no russian puns here, even though the CCCP's non-russian authors liked making one.) ~Mr. Devnull
  20. That computer is perfectly fine for runescape. If the game is running lag free (which it should be with those specs) then you don't need it faster and you probably wouldn't notice the speed improvement anyway. Runescape is more based on internet speed (ping time, not bandwidth) than your system specs. Hey, blade995, I know I'm gonna sound crazy, but since RazorAce didn't say what OS they are trying to use, and if they are trying to play RuneScape on WinXP with only 256 MB of Physical RAM, then they definitely need a RAM upgrade. I have found that RuneScape can need up to 128 MB of space in RAM just to function inside of its' Java scratchpad area sometimes. Other than that, you're right, RazorAce's system specs shouldn't be an issue. RazorAce, just out of curiosity, who's your ISP? :-s ~Mr. Devnull
  21. In addition, Lenticular_J may wish to make sure their "Enable Java" option is on in FireFox, in the menus under "Tools > Options > Content (tab)". If it is not, then it would explain why RuneScape won't launch. (BTW, don't take my head off. I'm just covering the bases here.) ~Mr. Devnull
  22. I bet they saw that sentence and some internal fuse blew that should not have. So they think that P2P is going to get [bleep]-ed over when they really are going to have quite the nice bonus happen! ROTFLMAO! :XD: :P ~Mr. Devnull
  23. I did say it was optional. And plus, you can choose 1-3. Also, people do complain alot. They do need more security though. And personally, I haven't seen a decent account defense since... ever... No, you write your own questions and answers. So, even some of your friends wouldn't know. I wrote my own questions for that... Everyone does. LOL  ~Mr. Devnull
  24. [begin swear]Damn.[End swear] They changed it in FF2 and later then! (I'll bet the term change was due to MicroSoft getting their grimy mitts into the FireFox stuff! :x ...) ~Mr. Devnull
  25. Uhm, not quite sure that line fits. :-k (I've been here since June 2K6!) ~Mr. Devnull
