  1. yea, they are like that in my walmart. Except they have, gaia online and i think neopets membership cards as well. I thought Neopets was free to subscribe? :-s
  2. Remains the fact that RS is crippled technologically, lol. Iamdan is an idiot for thinking the HD update changes anything to that. [/hide] I really wouldn't say it was crippled, maybe limited slightly compared to other games but really not crippled. I doubt millions of people would play a game with crippled technology on a daily basis. They manage to make new and exciting updates - in what way is it crippled? The graphics? It's brouser based! and by far the most high-detalied brouser based game out there, which is a huge acheivement. You could say: Oh, WoW's far better, but then this thread is about the growth of RS, and imo WoW is far too expensive, you have to pay for the big updates (like Wrath of the Litch King,) and download patches and pay a far larger monthly fee. RS is very cheap relatively, and because it's browser based the updates are already there - it's minimum hassle. I agree with you, it is imo undoubtedly the best browser based game out there, its weakness is also its strength. WoW and RS are impossible to compare, because they hold almost opposite values in what makes a good game. As long as Jagex keeps going, RS is going to expand in the future, because Jagex always has that ability to push up the system requirements when there's a general consensus that the vast majority of PCs are compatible with the new requirements. Around 8 years into the future, they'll have probably have updated the graphics again, introduced a 1st person perspective, a customisable interface, maybe have a day/night system, whatever, but they'll keep lagging in graphics behind other MMOs, by a few years. But that's exactly the point, RS will always be that almost universally accessible yet quality game.
  3. Heh, good find, but It's not very informative. It reminds me of what happens if you try to bring the gold explorers ring onto Entrana, they say its magic is too powerful. *mysterious music*
  4. Hmmm, fatal flaw here lol Maybe have it so that when you log into a pvp world it puts you in the nearest safe point. But that would just get annoying, and massive groups would just swarm the spawn points for easy kills. I mean they know where you will appear, and especially on the first days there will be nearly constant prey. All they gotten do is wait for you to pop up and boom, all you'll see are red splashes and you're dead. The point of a SAFE spot is that it's safe; as in, they can't just attack you right when you log in, but have to wait for you to leave said safe spot.... :P Although I could see large clans surrounding safe spots with walls, I still think this sounds like a good idea. Just make it so that the walls have to be x spaces from the safe spots (to make surrounding them require more people/resources and less likely to happen) and make it part of construction and there you go. If someone wants to get to a resource/npc on the pvp world, they're going to have to deal with clans attacking them anyways, and, with the 10-second rule, chances are the clan's going to win even without the walls. Right. But that still wouldn't work since the clan has already spotted you. The point isn't that the clan gets to kill you when you aren't READY, it's that they know where you are. This way even if there is a safezone, once you leave you're done for. And all you can do is pretty much stay there or log out, unless there is a PvP world without a clan surrounding that area. For the same reason, the 10 second safe idea also wouldn't work since the clan would just run after you for 10 seconds. A 10 second rule isn't needed, this is why there are going to be wilderness style levels, areas around safespots will have a very low level range. A tiny portion, if any, of said clan will be able to pick off people leaving safespots using the conventional run-like-blazes method, as opposed to going to the bank and teleporting.
  5. *chortle* Oh, yes, isn't it just?
  6. I agree with you, it's a bit weird that Jagex updated every single shop except this one.
  7. It should be $20 for 90 days. I hate when companies don't offer deals for bulk purchases. Stupid Jagex. Good thing I'm not renewing my membership when it goes out. It is reduced, by $1.35. Although that isn't really much for a triple-buy.
  8. How do you know the prices? http://www.runescape.com/kbase/viewarticle.ws?article_id=738 The info is next to 'inComm'.
  9. Cool idea. It's $7.95 for 30 days and $22.50 for 90 days, which is alrightish.
  10. I don't think I can support this either. It's always the player's fault that they go up a level.

It's just typical, you wait for one to come for a few years, and then suddenly 5 come along at the same time. *tut*

    Yeah. What he said.
  13. I think there should be some ranging and maging versions of cave horrors, which will then drop some different masks. Then there can be three versions of the slayer helmet.

Strunk isn't suggesting we knock a novel down to a page. He is suggesting that we remove superfluous material to ensure that the work as a whole has meaning, rather than only particular sections having meaning. Trapical's post certainly is a breath of fresh air, and I greatly appreciate somebody who takes the time to write down their thoughts in full, structured English. However, I feel that his writing style can be greatly impproved by choosing his words in a more concise manner. This is, of course, just a piece of advice, one which he is welcome to reject. Actually, I think that making the language more concise will reduce the quality of the post. Part of Trapical's charm lies in that he's concise enough to put across complex ideas efficiently, but not so concise that the style and flow of the writing is lost. Great post Trapical, it really connected with me. We really should make a 'Trapical's collection' (with backups!), so they're more accessible.
  15. That's a pretty common bug, but it's harmless.
  16. If you play in a dark room or sit too close to the screen, or go on the computer for prolonged periods of time, yes, it will affect your vision. But it's perfectly possible to play the game without doing these things. However, astigmatism is so common that it's likely that people who do wear glasses due to their computer/TV screen would have ended up wearing glasses a few years later anyway.
  17. I would be playing a different game, and if it isn't an MMO, my typing would be much slower and I'd have poorer grammar. (Not from Runescape, but from tif).
  18. Ok, can we start to build on the actual idea, now that we've established that this would be better as an extension to construction? What do you suggest, jimmy?
  19. It should not be members only, because it is supposed to be the primary activity to replace the wilderness, which was both p2p and f2p. Besides, the appeal of p2p is still there even if they made f2p PvP everywhere worlds, drops would be on average much more valuable, PKing would be much more varied and exciting, there are many more resource spots to claim, and so on.
  20. You know this how? Something that potentially big is not going to be f2p. I really like this idea if it's going to be an addition to Construction. It would make such an expensive skill very rewarding. I think there is going to have to be some limits. For example, you can't build walls in safe zones, which fixes the spawning and access to banks problem. The number of walls a single person can build, and the strength of each wall should vary according to their construction level. You should also be able to build gates and towers to range from. If you get enough people together, you can set up a well defended fort around a resource!
  21. If they're concerned about a politician's appearance more than actual policies, there's something wrong with the system. I think it's actually a great picture.
  22. Then you need http://www.borisborisboris.com/  *hi fives*

I'm not going to do anything, I think it's a boring holiday. Christmas beats Halloween anytime.
  24. I think what's even more important is the two lines in the chatbox above what the pure says. You won by a huge margin, you should just accept that there are some people who can't take losing. :|
  25. There was quite a long period when Jagex could have released Blood Rune crafting and everybody would have gone crazy about it, but they left it too late, released too many ways to generate blood runes by alternative methods, and they're too cheap. With soul runes, it was too late a long time ago, they have no 'real' purpose as most other runes do.
